P. 651: Montezooma's Revenge project terminated?

Went to Haunt again tonight…The things that annoy me still hold true (photos in queue lines, no maze in bumper cars and fiesta plaza), but the mazes and streets had good energy. Dominion was ridiculously full of monsters, which made it best of the night. Something I never thought I would say, but each room was packed with 3 or more monsters---scares everywhere. Fail of the night was Gunslingers, which had the least energy and 3 monsters blocking the exit to have a personal conversation (they didn't even realize we were behind them for a minute). I still hate that so many monsters in that maze have no mask or makeup too. I also loved the added line about Bill & Ted's to the hanging.

^^ Something like that belongs more in Camp Snoopy but I doubt they'll put that there since they already have Lucys Tugboat which is kind of similar.

I forgot to add: for all the love KBF has been getting for improving things, the restrooms were in pretty bad shape. The Dyson airblades had rotted away, lime stains all over the fixtures, and it was obvious that no one had come in for quite some time to even do basic cleaning (water spots all over sinks, dirty mirrors, TP on floor). Very Six Flags.

^I do agree that those Airblades need to be cleaned, I'd rather dry my hands with paper towels.

Also, the Xlerators in the Bigfoot restrooms are really slow and are rather pointless since they really don't dry your hands.

I agree, even the employee bathrooms can be pretty bad sometimes. I'm not in park services so I can't really control this, but hopefully it'll get the appropriate attention soon.

BTW, here is a picture of the disgusting condition of the Dyson in the mens restroom near Mystery Lodge:

That's seriously one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen in a theme park bathroom. I don't even think I've seen something this bad in a Six Flags bathroom.

WTF?!? How is that acceptable?

Those Dyson dryers are disgusting (not just the ones at Knotts). They have the claim as being the most sanitary blow dryers which I don't buy at all. I have seen them in worse condition than the one above (sadly) elsewhere. I have a hard time putting my hands inside something where hundreds of other people put their hands and it collects water at the bottom. The one thing I'll give them is they do dry your hands VERY fast compared to the regular hand dryers.

I also have a hard time believing waterless urinals are sanitary. We have them at work and they seem to always overflow, and even when they don't it smells SO bad around them.

I agree, I'm not a fan of Dyson Airblades. I think the design is pretty pathetic to have all the water collect at the bottom, as you said.

I'd rather use these dryers:

I much prefer the Dyson Airblades to the more "conventional" air dryers, because I think they're faster and more efficient. I think the problem here is how Knott's has been maintining them (or, perhaps, not maintaining them).

I'm not sure what emailing the park will accomplish, as it is very clear no one has payed attention to it for months. That is what happens when you don't have someone regularly coming in to wipe it down. The airblades are great if properly maintained.

^Exactly. Kings Dominion uses Airblades, too, and the units in that park have never reached that state of "yuck."

If this was Six Flags I'd agree with you however after working 6 years in the park's Ride Operations department, I can tell you first hand that all department supervisors read guest complaints personally and will respond. Will it be resolved overnight? Absolutely not, however it will get the attention it needs.

I do however agree with you that it should have never gotten that bad to begin with. Seeing how the park reads the boards it's probably already being addressed.

^My point was that there is absolutely no excuse as to why they should not notice this on their own. Sure they will read the comment, but what will they do? Either they have not being doing their job in the first place by checking the restrooms, or someone higher up at KBF doesn't care enough to invest in an essential part of the guest experience (trust me, I know those things aren't cheap---but why pay to install them in the first place if you have no intention to maintain them or keep spares on hand?).

I wouldn't say very SF as SFGAdv has done an incredible job of maintaining thier restrooms for the past 8-9 years. 95% percent of the time there is an attendant doing real work.

Just got back from another visit to Haunt, excellent this year.

The Academy of Villians show which replaced Elvira for the last two days of Haunt was spectacular, I'm glad I stopped by. The dance numbers were super impressive, and that's coming from someone who hasn't watched an episode of Glee ever.

Wound up doing Gunslingers Grave Skeleton Key room a few times. 3 actors the first time, 4 the second, then back to the regular two the last time. Gotta say all the Skeleton Key rooms impressed me except Slaughterhouse. End Games was simple, but the performances I saw were great.

Got great value out of the boo-fet early entry, 6 front row rides on Xcelerator without even having to get out of my seat, and then a couple in the back row. Considering what the lines were like all night once everyone got in, I was pleased.

The Hanging was so much fun, I watched it twice.

Luckily, when I used the bathroom, there were hand towels and no dryers.

I'm beginning to think there will not be a 2014 announcement for KBF lol! Its starting to get quite late in the year and still not even as much as a hint towards any announcements.

Last year it was on Nov 1st, the first Thursday of the month, so I've been secretly hoping we'll hear something tomorrow (probably not). But yeah, there haven't really been any new rumors flying around, so anything could happen. If nothing else, I'm at least expecting that they'll eventually announce the Mine Ride update.

Over a page of talk about restroom hand dryers?! I never use the traditional ones anymore, but I liked the Dyson model...possibly having second thoughts about that now.

All right, back to other things...

Posted

^We ripped on SFMM for the poor condition of their restrooms, so it is only fair KBF gets the same treatment.

The Mine Ride is going down soon so I can only imagine why .
