kadabrium Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Apparently these are the trains for the new 10 looper being built in Locajoy (Chongqing safari park, China) Is it me or are those skyrush lapbars? from a Chinese forum http://tieba.baidu.com/p/2300578926
A.J. Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 So far, we've seen them on Skyrush and Hopi Hari's yet-built 10-inversion coaster. There's also a variation of them on Lex Luthor Drop of Doom. Lap bar enthusiasts...rejoice?
_koppen Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 They are also on the Fly Rider in China, and the new LSM ride in Vialand probably also have them. What I'm really interested in, is if parks with the accelerator trains can upgrade easily to these. I can only imagine how Furius Baco and Speed Monster would ride with these.
australianalex Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 This is great! I expected Intamin's new looper trains to use the Accelerator restraints with the thin, loose OTSR's as they'd improve the ride experience alone, but this is even better.
_koppen Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 How about some new photos of this awesome new train from Intamin? And as I wrote about a year ago in this thread, imagine if these restraints could be converted to all the Intamin's using the OTSR introduced on Storm Runner! Source
thrillseeker4552 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I believe the new Intamin looping trains have more minimal restraints that Skyrush and the U-Coaster in China. They appear to be much more comfortable too. And while Intamin's lap bars may be getting better, you can't beat Mack's launch coaster trains.
simon8899 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Hope these will also come to Cinnecitta in Italy!
coasterfreak101 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Oh wow. Let's see some restraint conversions for the rest of us who aren't getting new Intamins!
_koppen Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 The kick-ass looking new LSM coaster in Turkey also got them!
rcjp Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 ^All their new rides seem to be getting it. I hope this is the end of OTSR for them
_koppen Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 ^All their new rides seem to be getting it. I hope this is the end of OTSR for them I would hate to see them on the Zacspin though, that would be horrible!
tribar Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Get these on Maverick. Ride would be so much better with them
rcjp Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 ^All their new rides seem to be getting it. I hope this is the end of OTSR for them I would hate to see them on the Zacspin though, that would be horrible! Yeah, forgot those.
Blue Turbo Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Yeah I hope this is the end of their OTSRs. I am not a fan of them. Being tall, the ones in Cheetah Hunt dug into my shoulders
coasterfreak101 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I'm thinking that any future rides like Maverick or I305 will stick with the strap-OTSRs (maybe with the new lap bar), but if there aren't severe laterals like those then they'll go with the lap bars only from here on out.
rcjp Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 ^Skyrush has a few laterals that try to snap your back and no OTSR!
yay101 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I wonder if these restraints can be used on Intamin inverted coasters too!
Midgetman82 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 ^Like Volcano at KD? That'd sure to be interesting, though I think they'd have to have the seats more reclined for safety reasons. I love the looks of these restraints, and the fact that more coaster companies are looking towards lap bars for their inverting coasters! I wonder how much it could improve a coaster like Thorpe Park's Colossus, considering the many reports of roughness from it.
gerstlaueringvar Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Has anyone ridden a coaster with these trains? How does the lap bar compare to Gerstlauer's and Mack's?
A.J. Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I love the looks of these restraints, and the fact that more coaster companies are looking towards lap bars for their inverting coasters! I wonder how much it could improve a coaster like Thorpe Park's Colossus, considering the many reports of roughness from it. Roughness has nothing to do with a ride's restraint system.
Midgetman82 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 ^I meant if Colossus would change from OTSR to lap bar restraints, how much would the coaster improve with no more headbanging.
Koasterking48 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 If Intamin were to convert their "older" restraints to these new ones, Maverick and I305 are at the top of my list for the ones that need it most. I'm sure iSpeed could use them to, but I have yet to ride it to make that call.
CPmillenia94 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Idk how comfortable the would be with those barrel rolls... All of my weight is on the restraint with volcano when I'm sideways and it doesn't seem like it would be comfortable not having support...
Myself Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 As cool as it would be to see these on Maverick, I'm not entirely sure Cedar Fair would be too sold on this idea yet. But who knows? I'm personally rather happy with the vest restraints I305 currently has. I could see Hersheypark springing on these for Storm Runner and/or Fahrenheit, though.
