robbalvey
One cool thing about living in Orlando is all the fun little attractions and things you can go do besides the theme parks. Recently, a new Trapeze Class called "Trapeze Federation" was set up in Orlando, and those of you familiar with the area, it's near I-Drive and Kirkman, not far at all from Universal Studios. You can check out their Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/TrapezeFederation And visit their website here: http://www.trapezefederation.com Elissa had done the flying trapeze about 13 years ago and KidTums had never done anything like this! By the end of their first two hour class, Elissa was doing a knee hang and a grab, and Kristen was flying 25 feet above the ground! They both loved it so much, they signed up for five more classes! Anyway, here's some photos and video, and I'll let them do most of the talking... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbpOLQ-8jig Here is the trapeze rig. It's right off I-Drive (you can even see the Fun Spot skycoaster in the background if that gives you an idea of where this is located!) In just a few minutes, that's going to be Elissa and KidTums flying high up in the air! Stretching is a VERY important part of the lesson! Elissa is climbing up...ready for her circus training! The first try is a simple swing, just to get used to the harness and the rig. Next, KidTums gives it a try! She's doing great! Proof that this is awesome fun even for a six year old! Next, we go over to the lower trapeze bar to learn how to do a few tricks. This one is called the "knee hang", and Elissa is ready to do it, but KidTums says she's "not too sure about it..." Elissa goes to give it a try high up in the air... Success! Yay! Even KidTums is able to pull it off! Pretty soon Elissa will be able to audition for Circus Circus or an act on a Carnival cruise! YES! She does a catch! Next stop... Circus with the Stars! KidTums getting ready to go...this also gives you a perspective of how high up you really are! She LOVES it! She seriously did not want to leave! Elissa kept practicing that catch! (After all, you need to be GOOD for Carnival, right?) She really did awesome at this! You, know, just a couple of dudes, grabbing each other... this kind of thing is pretty common here in Orlando! KidTums gives Trapeze Federation TWO THUMBS UP!!! Check out their website - if you're a local to Orlando, or in town visiting, we recommend checking it out. It's a nice break from the parks! jray21
That is really really cool. Yet another reason why Orlando is awesome! I can't wait to see Elissa and KT headline one of the acts at Circus Circus Reno!
SuperShawn
Looks like a ton of fun! Something else to add to the to do list!
Mrlittle
Pricing is not that bad. I wonder what the student discount is they offer. I now have like 14 reasons to get back to Orlando. Any chance we will see Robb take a trapeze class?
SharkTums
^They tried to get Robb on it but he wanted no part of it! I will try over the next 5 weeks to get him on, if only just once!
Chroniq
KT is a boss.. Just saying. Impressive.
PKI Jizzman
Even though I enjoy heights, drop towers, etc; swinging from a bar like that would make me nervous. Even with the net below! Do people still go to the circus?
ernierocker
That's an activity I will stick to watching on the ground. Still awesome you guys have something so close to your house like this!
DougMJr
I want to do this! Looks awesome. Good job guys!
Hilltopper39
So this place is basically a random trapeze class set up in a field somewhere off of International Drive? This is the most Orlandoy thing ever, and I love it. Seriously this looks like a blast, I'd love to check it out. Wonder what the weight limit for their harnesses is? Better yet, I wonder what the awesome limit for their harnesses is because my fat arse trapezeing about would be awesome.
SharkTums
^Pretty sure they said the limit was 250lbs, but I get the feeling from some people I've seen do it they'll go higher than that and maybe just not offer 'the catch' to you. KT is a boss.. Just saying. Impressive. I was seriously so impressed. I went first and just climbing the ladder I was scared and nervous. I instantly realized this was a bad idea and she wouldn't even be able to climb the ladder. By the time I got off the net she was already half way up! I was cheering her on and so happy! If any of you decide to do it, let me know and I may be able to arrange a better price for you as TPR Peeps!

Seems like 250 lbs is a fairly common weight limit for bungee jumps and skydiving and stuff, and that's alimit I'd rather be way under than slightly over... cfc
KT is one smart, brave kid--you wouldn't catch me doing that stuff.

It also looks like they have a Groupon going on right now, for anyone interested. I'll be in Tampa so I'm thinking about taking the 2 hour drive and doing it later this month. http://www.groupon.com/deals/trapeze-federation
televisedconfession
OMG, Kristin is SO adorable! She did such a great job!!!! This looks like a great activity, and can't wait to see you all progress over your next couple of classes! Keep the updates coming!
Meteornotes
This is really cool. There's no way I could ever do this, though, as I injure myself just walking around my house. I'm pretty sure I'd somehow set this attraction on fire with my magical self-endangerment powers. dt
jray21
I definitely have to do this on my next visit! KT is amazing. I definitely wouldn't have done that at her age.
SharkTums
So Trapeze Federation was on the local CBS News tonight and Kristen made quite the TV debut! http://www.clickorlando.com/news/Family-Adventures-with-Matt-Trapeze-Federation/-/1637132/19791812/-/format/rss_2.0/-/qtuwm8z/-/index.html
