^The park is near Busan.

Lotte World, known as the world's largest indoor theme park in Seoul, South Korea, has just signed the largest contract in the waterpark industry with WhiteWater to open a new waterpark to be located in Kimhae, near Busan, South Korea.

The $22 million contract specifies that WhiteWater will engineer, manufacture and install 100% of the waterpark's indoor and outdoor attractions. Lotte World Waterpark is anticipated to be completed in May 2013.

This exciting project will feature a thrilling array of waterslides including two MEGAtubeTM rides: the new Family RattlerTM and Family PythonTM, the legendary Family BoomerangoTM, AquaLoopTM, AbyssTM, an 8-Lane WhizzardTM, Family Raft Ride, Dueling Master Blasters® as well as Speed Slides and Body Slides.

In addition to waterslides, Lotte World Waterpark will also offer a 115 foot (35 meter) pneumatic Surf Wave pool, a smaller, indoor 60 foot (18 meter) Family Wave pool, a FlowRider® Double and two AquaPlayTM multi-level interactive play structures - an AquaPlay Giant RainFortressTM and an AquaPlayTM AP1050, both featuring large tipping buckets. Lotte World Waterpark will also showcase some of WhiteWater's finest custom theming with complex custom-designed Polynesian themed waterslides, AquaPlayTM structures, towers and much more.

WhiteWater's CEO, Geoff Chutter is delighted to announce this contract stating, "WhiteWater is thrilled to have been chosen as the supplier and manufacturer for Lotte World Waterpark. This project will be a wonderful showcase of WhiteWater's signature attractions and we are proud to be part of such an industry leading project".

Oh, great!

I have been wanting to see some pictures and concept art of this ever since it was announced.

That's a lot of slides for opening! Is it going to open all at once or in phases?

I would assume it's all going to open at the same time.

Still it won't be enough slides, considering that the other two big water park's Whitewater has built in South Korea (Everland & Ocean World) has been extremely crowed, with lines up to 2-3 hours a slide.

Are those racing water coasters I see? (The red and yellow slides on the right comming from the same tower) If you look at the picture it looks like they go uphill at various parts. If so then that would be awesome.

They are indeed water coasters, Master Blasters to be exact, and they will be dueling, according to the press release.

Here's a picture of an existing dueling Master Blaster.

Nice to see Lotte World opening another park, I found Lotte World to be very nice and cool (the indoor park is so cool! And let's not forget the Aquatrax) the only thing I had to grip about was their line policy to avoid graffiti but I can understand that as Koreans just love to do graffiti. Judging by the art it looks like this park will have a TON of great slides!

For those who don't know Korea well, this park will literally be all the way across the country from Seoul and the existing Lotte World, on the southern tip of the country. Luckily, South Korea is a relatively small country. But it would still be a high speed rail ride of several hours, and an even longer drive. However, it's not all that far from Gyeongju and the Gyeongju World theme park, with the very well themed B&M inverted coaster.

I just remembered this project all of a sudden. I did some Korean googleing and this is what I found, looks pretty kick-ass so far.

(I really have no idea on the date of them, or how fresh they are).

Looks like the play structure will be a copy of the original giant one at Hershey. Also the Volcano in front of the giant surf pool will look pretty dope when it's finished.

Here's a video with the ride conept art

Busan is not really that far from Seoul. Korea is pretty much the size and shape of Indiana. Seoul to Busan is 2.5 hours by KTX train, 6 hours by cheap busses. Every notable park is between those two cities, and public transportation is probably easier in Korea than it is anywhere in the world. Tons of people speak English, Taxis and Busses are cheap. Really accessible place.

Sorry to bump an old topic but this water-park is opening next weekend: http://www.lotteworld.com/contents/contents.asp?cmsCd=CM0460 although a lot of the slides won't be ready until the following season may 2015. We hit lines of 2 hours at Carribean Bay when we visited so I dread to think what lines will be like next month with only 3 of the bigger slides operational (not counting the ordinary body/tube slides)

I do think it's quite nice where it is despite being the other end of the country from Lotte World, some of the bigger water parks are already around Seoul or around the middle of the country with one or 2 more just opened around Seoul so I think with all the theming and publicity lately this is going to do very well with the people of Busan.

It's amazing how fast they've built it .

And those slide complexes and theme parks pop-up like mushrooms over there, and looking at the economy, I think that we will see some more pop up in the next decade.
