NEWS: Disney reveals details on Walt Disney World MyMagic+

Recommended Posts

^This. I have never really followed a strict schedule at a park, and I was worried this would affect people like me who wing their entire day. Good to see there's still some wiggle room left without fully assigning a schedule.

It's like I've said, the system doesn't really change anything, other than it "guarantees" you three rides. Look at it like an insurance policy. Your day can still be as spontaneous as you want it to be. If you're at the park for 8 to 12 hours, your FP+ reservations aren't going to take up that entire time. You can still go around and do whatever you want, but know that, even before stepping foot into the park, you're guaranteed a ride on Space Mountain, Big Thunder, and Splash Mountain if you want to.

You don't HAVE to use them, and now you can change the time.

And I'm sure as testing continues, that 3 will increase to 4 or 5, or maybe just be based on capacity and availability.

Looks like there was an update to the FastPass+ on the My Disney Experience App just from last week! I was now able to make my reservations and then go in and change the time to nearly ANYTHING I wanted with a giant selection.

But I wanted my Thunder Mountain FastPass time to be EXACTLY 10:03am! Shame on you Disney for taking my choices away!!!

Will be interesting to see how the new system will work out on lower crowd days. Having visited last year this time I was able to get up to 8 Fastpasses a day hopping between parks. Starting at Hollywood Studios then on to Epcot and finishing the day at MK. Even while regular waits were at most rides at about 20-30 minutes - Soarin honorably excluded - one could reduce those to zero with the old system.

I hope the system will in the future adapt to the overall attendance and you can during the day book additional FP+ tickets if available - or the system will offer you FP+ tickets for immediate use if slots are still free - likely using a smartphone app. This of course also requires a WLAN coverage inside all parks to cater all non-US visitors who will likely not use expensive roaming for this.

Have you been following the thread? The parks (actually ENTIRE RESORT) now has free wifi for this very reason and there is a Smartphone App that we're all using to do this!

^^ It's also been mentioned in this thread how FP+ seems to have shortened standby queue times resort-wide for most attractions. So the *need* to get 8 FastPasses in a day is sort of going away. You can't think of this new system with the parameters of the old system. That's not how it works. It has changed everything. And this has all been talked about in the thread.

Hate to say it, this system will NEVER be made for "locals"

It does make me wonder how the system will operate when it eventually comes to Disneyland. Cause I can't see it being 100% the same. I'm sure there will be different restrictions and rules. But it's very exciting to see this roll out!

For anyone who uses the app to make reservations on a regular basis: how does the staggering work on the FP+ system? On the legacy system, you had to wait till your Return Time was good or wait two hours to get another one (if your return time was farther then two hours out). Do these same restrictions apply to FP+ or could you pick reservation times as close together as you want?

^So keeping in mind they're constantly changing this and we only JUST got the option to select from a wide variety of times I logged in today to research your question based on an upcoming visit I have FastPass+ for.

I have reservations for the following:

Attraction A - 12 - 1

Attraction B - 1 - 2

Attraction C - 2 - 3

If I try to change the time on one of them it will NOT give me the option during the same windows as my other two reservations. So it looks like you can only book one per hour.

As to your "How will this work at Disneyland" question. I have no idea, and I would be TERRIFIED to implement this there!

What's terrifying to think about it how much the WDW idiot fanboys have been complaining about the system, and Florida gets about 1% of the amount of idiot fanboys that Disneyland does.

That should keep you up at night!

We've yet to visit Disney, but it's on our radar for the near future (we even have a "Disney/Florida jug" for all spare change at home. ). Personally, I think the new FastPass+ system sounds amazing, and it's a great use of modern technology to make the experience for visitors even better! Seriously, I don't even understand how people could be complaining about this!! How is this not 1,000 times better than having to run around the park and collect paper Fast Passes? And for perspective, I showed this system to my wife (who has visited Disney World before). Her response? "That's genius really. Now you can book and guarantee the rides you really want to ride, then go about your day with even less need to run around." I think that says it all.

Ah I understand you now. I usually just made the time changes on a computer and I guess that had all the time options available (minus what's full up).

Regardless, I think the next step is to have AP Holders receive their MagicBands, regardless if they have stayed on property or not. I've heard some AP's complain because they haven't gotten theirs yet. I just tell them to shut up and stay on property one night if their that desperate!

Some passholders HAVE received their Magic Bands. They're rolling them out slowly and carefully to see how it goes since remember, My Magic + is still not official and in testing.

I got the passholder email telling me I'm not getting my bands, but I will soon and should get excited and here's all the other stuff I can do where one of my friends got the email inviting her to apply for them and she got them super fast once she filled out the form.

I don't think the roll out will be bad at Disneyland. Lol. The complainers are the same group of people anyways. And if it's reducing the normal standby times then that's great! Most APs on the west coast do short evening trips, so three fast passes is actually pretty generous. When I do an evening trip, I'm lucky if I get a fast pass at all for some rides. If I could reserve Space for 6pm it'd be amazing!!!!

People are dumb. Dave, send out the BEES!!!!!

So this weekend I will be in Orlando at the invitation of a company I do business with, all expenses paid! One of the choices of hotels to stay at was the Animal Kingdom Lodge which of course was fine by me. Yesterday I get an email that my magicband can be picked up at registration, cool.

Signed up on MDE, hooked my reservation to my account. Added my co-worker as a friend. Bought both our one day tickets and hooked them to my account. Made fastpass reservations and a lunch reservation. Al pretty easy so far.

When I enter the park on Sunday, how do I know when my fastpass times are for? Is there an app? Use my phone and go to the MDE website?

Am I the only one who hates the new fast pass system? I think the old way is better because it was free and you could get another fast pass for the same ride like twice or three times on the same day. Just you had to wait a certian time to use it. Which was fine by me, because I could go do other things at the park while I wait for the time to be able to use it. Of course guest will buy this new fast pass, but to me I think Disney is doing it for the money.

^What are you talking about, this new system is also free for ALL GUESTS. Perhaps you shouldn't post about hating something you obviously don't know about!

I was told by a fellow coaster friend and a person at school, that went to Disney a few days ago, you now have to pay for it. So I assumed you did, and I didn't bother to look it up. Till now you just mention it. So, sorry about that.
