Actually the rumor is that they are completley replacing all the track with the exception of the station and lifthill.

 

If you ask me it's wasted money. But I gues it's sort of cool that they are preserving this classic for the future...

Something called 'maintenance'.

 

 

Acoording to Looopings this what Efteling is doing.

 

Efteling will make use of the annual winter closure of the Flying Dutchman to refurbish the attraction that opened in 2007. The track piece just before the splash will be completely replaced. That part wears out faster, because the track there is always wet and dry. The rest of the track will be sprayed clean.

I know it's an old vekoma but I still don't get how people manage to have painful rides on it.
