  1. The cave is the exit of the ride. You enter the queue through the gate behind the fountain, the two doors above the rockwork with te balcony in front is the entrance to the pre-show room.
  2. The making-of looks great! I do love the self turning book effect. The animatronics do look high quality and i love some of the little details.
  3. The queue will end up a couple meters before te doors with probably turnstiles. When the doors open of the pre show they will let the guests through the turnstiles and enter the building.
  4. The plants are fake. These doors are the entrance to the pre show so you will pass them during the queue.
  5. Efteling is a park with a love for Darkrides so this is a perfect addition, the animatronic looks great. I don't think their next big attraction will be a rollercoaster but the park menagement was enthousiast about their collaboration with B&M so it's quite possible they wil build another B&M coaster. The same park menagement told they are not interested in a B&M Wing-Coaster. So Yes, a Flying Coaster is still a opportunity.
  6. Hmm still the same twitter issues I guess. At the next page there are some of the pictures I've post above. www.plaetjesmakers.nl/index.php?/category/310

  9. Ton van de Ven former designer by Efteling died this morning at an age of 71 after a cerebral haemorrhage. The designer is known for the big rides he designed for the park like: Fata Morgana, Droomvlucht, Villa Volta, PiraƱa and lot of other beloved attractions at Efteling. Ton van de Ven started at Efteling in 1965 and retired in 2003. It's so sad he passed away, but his creations will live through. 14. I thought the theming on Baron was amazing until I saw a rogue apostrophe in the word Pizzas It's correctly written in Dutch. In Dutch we write it as Pizza's intead of Pizzas. It might be confusing because of the word shakes but in Dutch we don't have an own translation for milkshakes and shakes.
  15. I'm fully agree with you. I do like preshows but a lot of people don't have that kind op patience. Especially for people from abroad it can be quite boring. Baron 1898 is built with a more international audience in mind, the name of the ride is written the same and has the same meaning in Dutch, English, German and French. The first preshow will feature an English translation. The animatronic will speak in Dutch but witch some English phrases and some German, like "Gluckauf'. The speeches to foreigners completely fits the theme of the attraction. In the early Dutch mines there were a lot of employees from abroad. It started one of the first major immigration waves to the Netherlands.
  16. I've just had the same thought about similarities with the Mystic Manor preshow. The outdoor queue for the single rider looks as though they even have to visit the preshows every time. Efteling doesn't offer Baron 1898 as just a rollercoaster but as a total experience.
  17. The last secrets of the Efteling rollercoaster Baron 1898 be unraveled. 'Looopings' can tell you what's happening in the pre-show/station building of the new attraction. The two shows in the complex were hitherto secret for the public. Visitors who pass the entrance of Baron in 1898, ending up in an old gold mine. They walk into the dressing room, which can accommodate just 36 people. In this closed space the first show is staged. The greedy Baron Gustave Hooghmoed, the main character of the attraction, has placed two projection screens in this room. With pictures shown on one screen and an English translation on the other screen, he explains to the guests that they are miners who will receive their helmet. Gustave Hooghmoed promises to his miners mountains of gold lie ahead in the offing. In the middle of the room there is a remarkable record player that plays music of the attraction. Visitors hear the mining baron telling them in Dutch: "With my cathedral of steel you descend to the deepest caverns." He also says in English: "I welcome all of you miners from abroad in my beautiful mine." The voice of Hooghmoed is known as voiced by actor Paul Gorcum, the famous Baron from 'Bassie en Adriaan (old Dutch tv serie). After that, the projectors wich designed as old episcopes supposedly broken. By Using modern projection techniques the Witte Wieven (mythical creatures who are trying to warn us.) appear on the walls They sing that the group must go back. "U zijt gewaarschuwd." ("You have been warned.") Hooghmoed is angry about this "superstition" and recommends his miners they should not listen to the Witte Wieven. He gives his miners the order to continue walking into the next room, the salary space. There, visitors will see the main character for the first time 'in person'. At the top of the stairs is a sophisticated talking animatronic who must represent the baron. The animatronic encourages the group to walk through the boarding hall, where your transport will be prepared. In the second show Gustave Hooghmoed tells foreign guests to look at the instructions above the doors. The baron laughs, but also looks haughty. He ends with the best wishes 'Gluckauf!". Then the doors open towards the boarding hall. The trains with eighteen seats are ready. They bring the guests towards the boiler house, where the lift hill starts. Source: Looopings www.looopings.nl
  18. Great inside views, the theming looks stunning! I love the details and that great steam engine. The animatronic of the baron looks impressive!
  19. The music in that video is not the ride's theme. Today there were some outdoor sound and music tests. Even today, first manned test drives. Source: Facebook/Twitter Efteling.
  20. Here is nice video with some working effects like the fog and the turning wheels.
  21. Today there were new fog tests Sneak peek inside the entrance Source: plaetjesmakers.nl/index.php?/category/baron1898
  22. The track is still covered because none of the theming is completed. The covering should prevent to get shotcrete or paint on the track. The track will be uncovered when all the rough theming in that section is finished. The mountain range is just a part of the whole theming.
