When "Italian Job" became "Stunt Coaster at KD and KI I always thought that sounded really stupid and lame; seems like they could have come up with something a bit more creative (honestly never cared for the original name either but at least there was a reason for that due to the movie tie-in). Also, I have always thought that "Great Bear" was an extremely uninspired and boring name for a coaster, even one that is rather mild to begin with. A name like that would fit much better on some kind of flat ride or perhaps a log flume.

Lex Luther Drop of Doom. For those not in the comic book know, it just sounds like some kind of stressed out business man falling out of a tower or something.

So I'm guessing that word doesn't mean the same thing in Germany

Well, "titty" hasn't any meaning in germany and its only used in the english meaning - but I guess we aren't that juvenile about it....

Dragon in Snowfield - Vekoma Mine Train - Happy Valley Chengdu China

Dragon in Clouds - SLC - Happy Valley Chengdu China

Fly Over Mediterranean - Megalite - Happy Valley Chengdu China

So.. three odd coaster names in one park? Serious..

^ LOL...I was thinking of that one and also wondering why no one had mentioned Steel Eel yet?

Some other cool/funny names not yet mentioned:

* Der Flinger - old paratrooper ride @ Adventureland

* Corn Hole @ Geauga Lake - Ooops...not a ride, but still funny

* Everything named Le______ @ La Ronde (yeah, I know it's French, but still awesome & funny...maybe you had to be there)

* Witches Stew @ CLP

* Whizzer @ SFGA and Water Wizz Water Park near Hyannis, MA

Wow this thread really took off, that great, and wow guys i didn't realize how many names there were out there. Hopefully some of the park officials will see this thread and realize there should more of an effort put into naming there rides for the future.

Also did some looking at coaster names on RCDB.com and found some other names,

Holly's Wilde Autofahrt- At Holiday world, Is it pronounced auto fart? I no it means Holly's Wild Car Ride, but still lol

10 Inversion Roller Coaster- At Chimelong Paradise, no effort put into naming the ride, more common sense.

Now I'm no racist or anything but if you take a look at this acronym it might surprise you,

Kozmo's Kurves at knoebels , a little too many k's for my liking.

Another thing that I dont understand is why have a park with two rides having the same name? Or same basic theme?

i.e. SFGADV (My home park which i still love) - Batman and Dark Knight, makes no sense

^ Well, coming from SFGAm we have the same thing, and I think its fine since Batman is themed after, well, Batman obviously were as Dark Knight focuses way more on the Joker. So the names are similar, but the themes set them apart.

Windseeker...because whenever there is wind the ride shuts down; ironic, no?

As I recall Windjammer at KBF also had this problem - if it was windy they couldn't run it!

Yeh no, i get it, but still the company is spending major amounts of money on a ride for them to basically duplicate a theme, i would understand since its alot easier for the whole trademark process to have more than one ride same trademark, but all i'm trying to say is we there should be more creativity and imagination put into the process of building and naming rides.

Am I the only one that actually LIKES the superhero names that SF gives their coasters?

The only one I didn't really like is Superman Ultimate Flight for SFDK's Skyloop model and that's because the name really doesn't suit the ride. All the other superhero themed coasters have decent names.

Names like Superman Ride of Steel, Bizarro, Superman Ultimate Flight, Batman, etc aren't half bad when done correctly.

My biggest gripe would be naming a GIB and a B&M invert Goliath.

But most of SF's ride names aren't too bad.

Goliath, Tatsu, X, El Toro, Raging Bull, X-Flight, Green Lantern, Apocalypse, American Thunder, etc are all pretty good names.

CF had some pretty bad ride names too, but it seems that they've improved in the past few years. Going from Chinese-esque ride names like Drop Tower and Backlot Stunt Coaster to names like Leviathan, Stinger, Behemoth, and Intimidator, you can see an improvement.

1. Big Spin just sounds like a lame name for ride, it fine when Six Flags had Tony Hawk with it, but then they've ended getting rid of anything relating to the skateboarding superstar and dropping the "Tony Hawk" branding from Big Spin, then they finally made a "right" move and renamed the ride Pandemonium.

2. Halfpipe just sounds too generic for a water slide at Six Flags America.

3. I also find 'Cuda Falls a silly name for a ride besides I don't think Darien Lake doesn't use the "Barracuda Bay" moniker anymore.

4. Here's also anther funny ride name from Darien Lake Twisty Tubs, seriously I would like to see Darien Lake rename the ride to "Slime Cans".

5. Big Bad Wolf sounds like ride name that shouldn't have been in a Busch Gardens park, but a fairy tale theme park.

At least they didn't go with the Three Little Pigs Racing Coaster.

I was recently clicking through the random coasters on RCDB's home page and stumbled upon a really nice Gerstlauer spinning coaster called "Vicky The Ride". Pretty weird! But it's a beautiful ride, even if it does have a strange name! The trains on it are these gorgeous spinning boats. Post pictures if you want of the coasters when you post the name, so people can see what they look like. Here's the link to Vicky's RCDB page.

So, what do you think are some of the strangest roller coaster names?
