thrillrider
Ok, first I want to apoligize for starting a thread yesterday, and not posting updates. I took some pictures on my phone, and when I went to upload them on here, they would stall half way thrue. So while trying to do this, I drained my phone battery. Anyway, onto the trip report. Normaly we wait till the second weekend of the season to hit kings island because they are only open on saturday of the first weekend. But due to prior plans next weekend, this weekend was the only option. I have to say that the place was packed! Lines were spilling out of the q lines. The day started off kinda bad, because first off we over slept and missed the beast walkback, and there were a lot of rides not open for the first half of the day. The waits for the major coasters were up over 120 min for a while. The crews were doing there best to keep the lines moving, but some coasters were only running 2 trains. But as the day went on, more rides started to open, and the lines got a little shorter. Even with the long lines, we were able to hit all the major coasters once(except for stunt coaster), and we were able to get 2 rides on the beast. We opted to save the beast for the last ride of the night. It did not dissapoint. There is still nothing like a night ride on the beast. Durring the durration of the day, we ran into some "weird" people. I will let the picture do the talking. Also got some video of the windseeker lighting. All I can say about it is that it looks amazing. It's a very bright ride, and will be seen for miles. We started out our 4.5 hour drive to the park around 4pm. I have passed this building several times and thought it was weird. It is a very small skyscraper. I guess they ran out. Almost there. Our hotel. Not a bad place. We plan on staying here again. They also have an all you can eat breakfast buffet. This one is for Rob. There was an info booth, but it had crashed. This is the season pass line. Glad I had tickets for today. Main gate area. The first stop was the guest services for a parent swap and to get my daughters height checked. As you can see, it was pure choas. Got the parent swap, but now they make you stand in another line to get the height check. No trip to KI would be complete without a tower/fountain shot. Jeff jhonson was at the park today. The worlds largest lollypop. Guests waiting for 10am. First ride of the day was the boo blaster. Ride vehicle....for the TPR gallery. Great pumpkin coaster. My daughter was finnaly tall enough to ride this. She loved it. She loved the kite flyer as well. I agree... We decided to hit the log ride. Diamondback was quite buisy. I wish I was big. Plan on hitting this up later. Time to check out the coney mall area of the park. This was the line for the racer. I want one. Monster. Scrambler. The new pavers look great. They have a few new games this year. This was the angry birds game. Only thing missing here is Bob Barker. The line for flight of fear was 120 min long. Racer lift hill. We did not bother with firehawk today. Yep.... At least they finnaly cleaned the theaming in the fof line. Random theaming They were still showing the video in line. Dark picture, but these 2 girls were freaking out. Swing ride...closed. In the morning, they had the entire corner of the park closed. They did end up opening vortex later in the day. I see you windseeker. Nice sign. My daughter loves this ride. Diamonback doing it's thing. Even the bathrooms had a line. Stunt track had a full line. We were going to ride the beast, but the line was out near diamonbacks splash pool. So we decided to grab a beer and some ice cream. It's been a while since I have been on the train ride at kings island, so we checked it out. They have log cabins and scenes durring the ride. Train house. The rapids ride was buisy today as the weather was great. The log ride has about the right amount of wetness, but it was closed. Dry... Not sure what snoopy has in his mouth, but it does not look good. Our friends from ace were at the park this weekend. Just an idea of how buisy it was. Rip it down. A nice new shiney coaster would look good here. Are they ever going to do something with this area? Splash!!! While up in the tower, we noticed that vortex was now open. The beast. Not sure what this road was for, but it was not there last year. The line was still spilling out on the midway. Station shot. Not sure what was up with all the mega bees flying around the park. They were everywhere. First weird person of the day. Another new game this year. It's one of those lazer games. Country show in the fest house. Not a very good show. At the end, they got a golf clap. I skipped this ride today. With deals like this, it was a wonder why there was nobody in line. Adventure express. Noted... Station shot. I was going to make this guy our next weirdo, but I decided it was better to put him in the loser catagory. Hmmmm... Another one of my daughters favorate rides. I see you son of beast. Fest house. I have been to a lot of parks, and this has to be the worst name for a ride anywhere. Cool looking station though. I am still baffled why people wear hats into an amusement park. Meh...... Next weirdo of the day prize goes to..........Mr crack Kills. For all the firehawk lovers out there. New domo monster this year. The son of beast station, is not a halloween haunt. Flight deck looked good with it's new paint. Station shot. Let's see whats going on at amazon falls. This can't be good. I guess this was a block violation. Maybe next year. BigDipper 80
I must admit that I really like Windseeker's sign. It's very sleek and classy.
Geauga Dog
Thanks for the TR. I was planning on going yesterday but knowing that this is the first park in the region to open around here that everyone would make a mass exodus to Kings Island and your pictures proved it. Seems like you had a good time despite the crowds.
thrillrider
More.... I did not forget about faceoff Decided to hit racer since the line died down. I always get a chuckle out of this. It's OUTSIDE, under a small walkway. Why do the need a fire surpression system there? Damn...... Going up the lift. Ok, now onto windseeker and vortex. Vortex was running great. They just switched the lights on. You can really see the lights. Amazing There are also lights on the top of the tower facing down. Last ride of the night was the beast. Our ace friends had the same idea. Signs in the station. This is my favorate. We found the beast's glory hole I agree. The light show was ok. Got to check it out on the way out. The next morning, we hit the wafflehouse. I will add some more pictures in a bit.

Millenniumfan94
WindSeeker looks amazing, I can't wait to ride it both here and at CP.
Buckeye_Ben
Man, KI looks slammed...I don't know if I've ever seen it that crowded. Can't blame the locals though, it's been raining pretty much all of April down here, and yesterday was the most beautiful day we've had all month. And Windseeker's lights look AMAZING. I'll have to ride it at night, that will be an unreal experience.
PKI Jizzman
It was the first sunny day and it was 70 after over a WEEK of rain, so of course EVERYONE wanted to be outside and at KI that day. I haven't even bothered to get my pass yet.

cfc
"Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown" was a Peanuts movie in which the gang had to win a river-rafting race, so I guess it sort of makes sense for a flume ride--but the name is a bit ungainly. Hilltopper39
The light package on Windseeker looks amazing, I never saw that mentioned in any of the press release materials but it looks pretty cool. I love Kings Island but that place always seems to consistently have the weirdest mix of guests of any park I can think of. From nazi tattoos, to John Cena wanna-bes, and probably more Acer's on a daily basis than any other park in the country. Gotta love Ohio (and by love I mean secretly despise). BeemerBoy
This picture actually sums up my one and only trip to Kings Island. And considering I unfortunately currently live in dumbredneckville, that says a lot.
DJeXeL
I'll admit the Windseeker lighting package doesn't look too shabby.
thrillrider
The lights are very bright. Probably one of the best lighting packages I have ever seen on a ride.
braztaz
Great photos. How visible is WindSeeker as your driving up to the park?
thrillrider
Great photos. How visible is WindSeeker as your driving up to the park? To be honest, I came in the back way. But from our hotel, and the road in front of the park, it was very visible. The lights are really going to be seen for miles. One thing we noticed, was that drop zone still looked taller than windseeker. Not sure what the difference in height was between the two.
Fat-G
Drop Tower is taller than Windseeker.
Intimidator305
Thanks for the great trip report! KI is looking great besides those crazy crowds! I am also one of the Windseeker sign fans, it looks awesome, and so do the lights!
thrillrider
The crowds were insane. I am still baffled as to why cedarfair parks do not offer flash pass.
Amy Baby
Great trip report so far!!!! Be sure to add some of the pics i took. As for the Windseeker lights, they are amazing.
thrillrider
A few more shots. Saw this truck on the way to the park. Don't know why I find this funny. My daughter coulden't believe her eyes when they brought out her skyline chili. This was in the diamondback line. Just a reminder to put away your cell phone on the ride. Flight of fear station. Diamondback More skyline chili. Flight deck sign We got soaked on the log ride. Apparently, the more weight you have in the log, the wetter you get. Wafflehouse goodness. There is this flea market off of I-75, that must have 1000 fiberglass giraffes on the roof of the building. Still no replacement for the giant jesus that got struck by lightning last year. It was also known as touchdown jesus. Looking up the elevator shaft for the tower. This is all thats left of king cobra. This ride is massive....too bad it sucks Another look at amazon falls block violation. Racer station. Some other windseeker colors. They were still working on windseeker at 10pm. WW1 Flying Ace
Nice Pics... Looked insanely crowded. Snoopy is holding his dog-bowl! As a Snoopy enthusiast I must clear this up.
