Manny In England Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 What the heck are we supposed to do with that? We're turning it in, so we have to do something... They're just statements, not questions. If you're in doubt, ask the teacher.
onewheeled999 Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 It turns out we weren't supposed to do anything with it. The REAL study guide is what she gave us in class TODAY.
netdvn Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I'm really starting to get really pissed off with online flash videos (like YouTube) becoming all choppy and causing my internet to run slow. It's been happening on both IE and Firefox and it's very annoying because I'm forced to pause the video and pull the video seeker back to make sure I didn't miss anything... And on top of that, some videos STAY choppy the entire duration of the video no matter how long the video is paused. The only way I can watch the videos fully is to download them and the various video downloaders that I use either don't download the video fully, are too slow, cannot be converted, or don't even download the video at all. Also advertisements with sound... I'm really starting to hate advertisements with sound...
SakuraElizabeth Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 All right, here's one: my friend, who is 18 and a freshman in college, suddenly decides that she's going to buy a house.Without any roommates, just her own house. She's completly serious about it. And it's not a small, one either. Let's review the ridiculousness of this, shall we? Houses start at $70,000 at the very very least, plus taxes, insurance, gas/electrical, etc. She works a minimum wage job, the bank would never give her a loan because she doesn't make enough, and there's no way she would be able to afford a house anytime soon, even she saved for a long time. I know it's not really my business what she does, and it's not my place to act like her mother, but I'm really concerned about it...When I asked her how she was going to pay for everytihng, she goes, "Oh, I just have to find the money first", like it would take a couple weeks to come up with money to buy a house. I mean, I'm sure college students have bought their own house before, but without any roommates? Oh well, she'll figure it out eventually. Especially when her parents find out.... Rebecca "whatever!" Albert
BeemerBoy Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 ^ If it won't happen, then why worry about it? I'm just sayin', you know?
SakuraElizabeth Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 ^ Yeah, I know, I think I'm more worried about the fact that she thinks she can do it than that it will actually happen. She's pretty delusional, this isn't the first time she's suddenly decided to do something that makes no sense at all.
Teacups Make Me Sick Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Houses start at $70,000 at the very very least, plus taxes, insurance, gas/electrical, etc. Oh my god, I wish houses started at 70 grand in Jersey, I would be a homeowner at a young age as well. Renting sucks, and in this area the amount it is costing to rent is close to a mortgage payment (w a decent down payment). I just moved into a SHOEBOX (no lie, it is a 1 bedroom 7 ft wide shoebox)...I looked for an apartment that isn't in the boonies for months b/c my last rent was going up to 1k (heat and hot water was included...no other amenities). The owner rented it out for a steal...875/month (no utilities). Since the economy has taken a hit, people are being bastards with renting out crappy apartments for AT LEAST 1000/month...for a 1 bedroom!!!
Yankee cannonball Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Roll Of Thunder, Hear My Cry is the most boring book ever. Yeah, it truly freaking is. I just read the whole damn thing in like two hours and now I dont have ELA homework for the rest of the year
onewheeled999 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I'll admit, there's times where the book gets really interesting but then it falls flat on its face right after that, and gets back to the boring.
netdvn Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 1. Even though I had a great time at the Outer Banks yesterday, it was sunny when we got there, but it started raining heavily during our stay and the moment we left, it was sunny again... 2. It looks so dark outside and its freezing cold, in the middle of May. Where's global warming when you really want it? 3. My 3 year old nephew is driving me crazy with his demands! I can't wait til he turns 4 or 5 so he becomes a little less annoying!
ebl Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 ^ They don't get less annoying when they're four or five. Believe me. And wait till he's a teenager... Eric
netdvn Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 ^ Funny because I've had to take care of 4, 5, and 6 year olds tons of times before and they're much more manageable than my 3 year old nephew... Dan - I'll be out of the house and having kids of my own before Nick becomes a teenager - Nguyen
Homer Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Not sure whether or not I really want to post my own thread on my battle or just post this here, but an update. Some hair is starting to grow back and when good things happen, I'm back in the sh*t again. About next week or so I'm back into Chemo for 8 more sessions, kind of frustrates me knowing that I have to take a full fall courseload for insurance reasons and miss the first few weeks of class because its on the tail end of chemotherapy. About school though, I'm glad this summer semester I'm taking Intro to Business down online. Now if only 20 more credit hours and deciding a major were a piece of cake in this situation. As for post surgery things, still on the walker, but by the end of the week I should hopefully have enough balance for the cane. And physical rehab at a gym should be fun. But time for the super good news... The first six rounds of chemotherapy or so had a 99% kill rate on the tumors. While its badass most of the cancer is out of me so to say, I'm still kind of frustrated I have another 4 months or so of chemotherapy left. I'm also kind of frustrated that I can't really do parks this year, attend some good friends' birthdays in hopes of getting a girl, etc. I know by the end of this whole roadblock I'll probably be stronger, maybe things will look up once I get my old job back and back on the schedule of school, work, and random club stuff at school. The other things in life that kind of frustrate me in life aside from not being able to really go out and ride this year and missing social things, is maybe just being lonely sometimes. Kinda peeved I haven't had much of a birthday celebration or any visitors at home or in the hospital. But, at least I know my 21st will be definitely action packed. So, that's the update. Kind of LiveJournal-ish, but whatever.
onewheeled999 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I just finished Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. What the hell. It seems like it's gonna get really interesting, but it's done in such a way that it drags on and on even though it's talking about a fire destroying all the family's cotton (Oh, spoiler alert) and almost setting the forest ablaze. And then it ends. At least T.J.'s gone. I freaking hated that guy.
netdvn Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 ^ Just be glad you didn't have to read Great Expectations. That was the most boring book I've ever read. There was no buildup to any exciting event, in fact there was only one exciting event in the entire book and even that didn't last very long. I had more fun reading the ingredients on the back of food labels... --- My 3 year old nephew has really gotten more irritable lately. He hasn't been taking his naps and he's been a lot more demanding! On top of that my younger brother has a habit of messing around with him, causing him to scream, cry, and yell constantly. I have absolutely NO idea how my sister can deal with him without much trouble every day. I guess being a parent is like having a second full time job.

larrygator Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Homer - keep your spirits up, that's great progress. Look on the bright side, new hair style once your hair grows in.

I played that monopoly game before! It was actually harder than normal with the credit cards and everything.
onewheeled999 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I am mad Kris won.Adam is THE real star. Seriously though. I know earlier I said I would be happy whoever won, but I am surprised and disappointed that Adam didn't win out. He was, by far, the best from the start.
XII Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I can't stand it when someone uses the term "Real Americans." So just because I have an opposing viewpoint from you, I'm not a real American? I live in the country, therefor, I'm a real American. End of story. I just hate it when people say "Real Americans buy this brand of car" or "Real Americans will vote for Sarah Palin in 2012." Just something I had to get off my chest.
Manny In England Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 "Real Americans will vote for Sarah Palin in 2012." That's not a complement to them is it?
