^^ You raise a valid point. Perhaps it's worth taking to your local chamber of commerce, city hall, whomever makes the decisions reagarding public transit. And surely you have friends who feel the same way. There's strength in numbers...

Eric

It isn't really the councils who decide on this matter, as the transit company's are independent from the council/government. So they can charge as much as they like. And as you can't drive until your 17, they are obviously going to take advantage of the fact that people my age who need to get about need to use public transport.

And it took me two hours on buses to get home last night, I got home at midnight. And the film I saw wasn't even that good. But I still had a good night with friends, which sort of spoils the 'rant' of it

One of the Officers at work (nicknamed Tim nice but Dim) has decided he wants a new office so he is chucking out about 8 years worth of old files and legal documents - about 150 files - anyway he has piled it up in our post room which is not only a health and safety hazard but a nasty eyesore and our big BIG boss is coming round in two weeks. Not good.

Also I just found out that there is going to be job cuts in my camp. Great.

^People get grossed out in high school as well. Birth is not exactly a pretty sight.

But still. He was also the person that, on sight of the squid BEFORE the dissection, had the same exact reaction.

I live in Myrtle Beach, sc. And we are famous for the motorcycle rallies in May and October. Now city council is trying to get rid of them. I think this is a stupid move. The rallies bring in to much money for our economy.

Airlines should stop charging extra for checked bags. Now I know they are only trying to make up for money lost due to fuel costs, but this whole paying for first checked bag is a real problem. It slows down the check-in at the airports which makes for longer waits and problems with checking in. People are going to go the extra mile to avoid having to pay for their bags whether it means arguing with the people working the check-in counter, or bringing their oversized suitcase on the plane to fill the overhead compartment. The airlines to crack down on all the violations of size limits for bags. Too often I have been on flights which are delayed because someone refused to check their 50 pound bag and tried to stuff it in the overhead compartments. They should just raise the ticket prices to cover the fuel costs instead of this "nickel and dimes" thing they have going. Besides, a less than $15 cost increase in ticket prices for everyone would actually save money for those with checked bags.

Another option would be to charge for total weight of passenger plus their bags. Here in America, this could generate a lot of extra money for the airlines. A 300 pound person should pay twice as much as a 150 pound person. This would also cover costs of the fuel it takes to get the heavier planes off the ground. Passengers in the cabin would also benefit from not having to sit next to someone whose body spills over into their seat. Too bad here in America this couldn't happen because the airlines would get sued for discrimination.

I'm not sure I agree with the higher fee for a heavier person, but I know some airlines have considered it. However, it'd be nice if they had rows with wider seats for wider people. It's not fair to mere 160-pounders like me to have to squeeze into a seat because the guy next to me fills his seat and overflows into mine.

And, yes, they should restrict carry-ons because of people putting huge bags into the overhead compartments---that really pisses me off. I have seen a gauge at some places where carry-on bags are checked for size, and if they don't fit, they get checked. Period.

My rant today is (yet again) to do with work!

I'm an audio typist. I audio type. The other audio typist? She doesn't type. She learns the chief clerks jobs - so she can get it when the chief clerk leaves no doubt. When I ask for help with the typing she tells me she is busy.

Oh when I ask the chief clerk she says she 'has' to teach her the very very important computer work that she has been learning for the past month.

STUPID! They only hired her as an audio typist so that they could move her directly into the chief clerk job in a few months. She's not even a great typer.

Well she's lasted 40 years so far so I doubt she is gonna get it anytime soon

Oh update on the work thing:

She is getting the chief clerk job. yay.

At least this means they are gonna hire another audio typist... maybe this one will pull her weight and actually type.

^ I've talked to people in call centers right here in the U.S. who don't know what they're doing. Sometimes I think they dig up some of them from Dumbass, Iowa or somewhere. "Can I ax you a question?" "Ax" me a question? And it seems like they're always selling some kind of insurance.

But I hear you. I'm tired of having to speak to someone who either can't understand what I'm saying, or I can't understand what they're saying.

Anyone watch the finale for the Eurocup?

Germany vs. Spain

Sad, Germany lost 0 to 1. Although Spain is a pretty good team, I had high hopes for Germany and I really wanted us to win, since it is the first time Germans have actually been patriotic about their country since WWII.

Well, I guess second place isn't too bad but still...

It sucked, I had to wake up at 5 AM this morning, because my mom is gone on a trip and my dad had to set up for my church at 6. And I had to wait 2 hours there until 8, when I had to go set up for the junior high service. But then at 2, we went and got a huge breakfast, I guess that makes up for it.

And I took a three hour nap afterward.

I hate my P.E. Teacher! First, he randomly chose to make us run 2 miles, Then he made us play football and yelled at us because we were weak! Then, Back in January, we had to run the mile IN THE SNOW with only shorts and a T-shirt! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Ugh. Here in California, tomorrow's the start of this law where you can't talk on a cell phone while driving, you have to use a hands-free device. I'm okay with that part, but then there's the part where if you're under 18, you can't talk on the phone AT ALL when driving, whether it's hands-free or not. That's just lame.

Posted

^They have to have some age to set it at I think they do that because at 18, you have more experience driving. But I do understand what you mean. The last day of being 17, you aren't inexperienced, then the next day, your 18th birthday, you are ready to talk on the phone when driving.

Am I making sense?

So, anyway, I got an N64 emulator. I was playing Ocarina of Time on it and my dad went ballistic. As anyone who has played any Zelda game knows, Link tends to yell as he swings his sword. So my father assumed it was me yelling, arrived at the conclusion that OOT was bad for me, and demanded I get rid of the ROM and the emulator. Does this even make any sense? OOT is a classic game, one of the finest of all time; this is my first time playing through. I am in the middle of the Forest Temple; I recently got past a bug in the ROM and was satisfied at that. I don't think that just because a game features a little violence (there is no blood in OOT) means that it is "bad for me". The only conceivable problem with OOT is that it takes fifty or more hours to complete, and it is engaging. Honestly, I feel that OOT is good for me; it encourages creative problem-solving and the use of the tools at hand, not to mention the satisfaction derived from rooting out every last secret in the game. What do you think?

^ I totally agree with you. Thanks, now I have an excuse to play Twilight Princess a little more!

But anyway, I just did the most disgusting thing I've done in a long time. I didn't look at the expiration date on the milk (I just opened it today!), and after I took one gulp, I just spat it out immediately. It turns out that the expiration date was June. June 22nd. Holy crap. Imagine what it would taste like to lick a metal bar that's been lying in the dirt for 10 years and you could almost get the picture. Don't try this at home, kids.

My dad doesn't trust me with anything about computers. I wanted an after-market cooler for my EVGA 8800GT because it was hitting the 90C range. Not good for the card's lifespan.

So I got this* product, knowing what I needed to do (take off stock heatsink, clean leftover paste w/ rubbing alcohol & q-tip/cloth, install new heatsink). But...he doesn't trust me with it. He wants Geek Squad to do it.

Next time I get an upgrade/new part for my PC I'm doing it when he's not at home to prove I can do it without breaking the $1500 investment ($1100 without Geek Squad installation mind you). The thing is, it's my computer. Sigh. The things I do...
