CoasterCrazy Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 When do I have to send the $150? I will want my own private hotel room!
disneygurlz2s Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Sounds awesome, but unfortunately we're going to have to wait for something stateside! I am sure that it will be a great trip for all of you who can go! Shari "Vacation funds, if available, will be donated to the Walt Disney Company in the summer of 2006" Shoufler
Justin Adams Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I gotta say that I'd be really interested in going but I would have to be one of those people "partnered" up with someone since my wife will not be out of school yet. Hey Robb are you guys planning on extending your trip for a couple of days and do Disney and/or Parc Astrix? If you're not, how much more do you think it would be to do that? John, I'll partner up with you if you're interested. My girlfriend won't want to do any of this, so I would prefer to partner up with someone myself. This is exactly the kind of trip I've been waiting for. Way to go, you two. This sounds awesome, and is something that I'll *actually* attend! Justin
CoasterFanatic Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Also, give me a private hotel room because I snore like a chainsaw! That is, unless someone wants to room with me. If for some odd reason I can swing this, I will share a room. // Snores like a chainsaw, and can't be woke up
SharkTums Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 This is a great response everyone! Thanks again! - As for when to send the $150...as soon as possible. It is first come, first served and I've had a lot of private emails about people sending their money in as well. - Snorers Unite and find a partner!!! This will also be what we use the "exclusive trip board" for. To help everyone find a partner if they want, help with airfare, side trips (cough day trip to liseberg cough), etc. - Yay for more females!!! - Can any of the UK Members help with the height question? Do you guys have any coasters with restrictions like Deja Vu? If no one knows, I will start to contact the parks myself. Keep asking away!
CoasterCrazy Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 ^^I'm going to mail my Money Order tomorrow!
What Now Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I'd like to do this! I think I should do some sort of budget before I send the $150 in.
robbalvey Posted August 23, 2005 Author Posted August 23, 2005 Ok, the updated flyer has been posted: http://www.themeparkreview.com/events/englandflyer.pdf
coaster1 Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 So Gatwick or Heathrow .. at least we have the choice since limited cities get Heathrow service from the US.
danandjackie Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Just done a DvD of the dibb weekend at blackpool pleasure beach, I can highly highly highly, recommend room 439 in the Big Blue Hotel on the pleasure beach, you can almost touch steeplechase, big dipper and the big one and the rooms are awesome... I`ll pm if i may with a couple of questions just need to look at rail details as we live near blackpool so would have to obviously rail down(cant stand driving to london) to meet you.. One other tiny ? if I may as you are the dvd expert.. I have a friend in the states and want to send a copy of the dvd to them , would i have to make an nstc copy(In the uk our av equipment plays ntsc and pal usually just wondered if it was the same for you). I`ll send you a copy if you help out... Jackie and Danny xx PS jackie would buy a t-shirt but wonders if you have corrected the apostrophy mistake donkeys not donkey's..LOL Danny (dont mention the fact I seem to have about ten spelling mistakes in this post)
coaster1 Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 ^ Most standard DVD players in the US for TVs and such only play NTSC .. DVD-ROMs and DVD-RW's in systems will usually play both PAL and NTSC with no problem, as well as some standard ones.
Hicko Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Will almost certainly join you for a couple of parks on the trip. Should be good fun 8)
CreativeForce Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Hey Justin! Yeah I would definitly partner up with you. The only hurdle now would be to run it by Rebecca. I'll let you know as soon as I find out if I'll be let out of the house!
blackcurrent Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Most flights from the US will get in late morning/early afternoon to one of those two major London airports. Those airports are also easily accessible by train/bus from central London, so if you wanted to fly in a day or so early, it's still very easy to get back to the meeting point. At the end of the day, we need to have a limited amount of accessible meeting points for the bus to pick everyone up so it made sense to choose the airports. Otherwise people would be required to take a taxi or some other transportation to the first hotel, and that would be very costly and not convenient! --Robb The heathrow Express train takes 15 minutes to central London from Heathrow at a cost of 12pounds each way. There is the underground train (subway) which takes around 40 minutes but this is a lot cheaper approx 6 pounds each way. The advantage of the underground train is that it has lots of stations where you can stop. (All the london attractions) There are taxis but this is expensive expect to pay upto 50 pounds to central london in a black cab. From Gatwich there is a train to central london the Gatwick Express and also coaches to London and to Heathrow not sure on the costs for Gatwick. Hope that helps anyone thinking of an extra day or two in our amazing Capital City. Look forward to seeing you all...
Canobie Fan Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I will be sending my money in wed. But I wanted to know how hotels will work? Do you have to room with someone? Or can you get solo rooms or spend a bit more to get a solo room? As I would feel much better in my own room then with someone I dont know. :?
DerekRx Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Checks in the mail! Can't wait for some Balder, Inferno, Rita, as well as some old favorites like Grand National, Nemesis, X:\No Way Out, and Apocalypse. Hope we get some Southport Funhouse action too, my scars are starting to fade from the last time! Wonder what the odds are that we'll actually see a working Jubilee Odyssey and actually get to ride it this time! Better alert the Skegness Bird Committee, we're bringing a bus this time around.
SharkTums Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 ^YAY DEREK!!!!! I'm alerting all of the birds and Lemon Trees near Skegness that we'll be arriving! ^^ Yes there will be an option for Solo Rooms. I'm sorry I didn't mention it on the flyer but the flyer was getting pretty crammed full of information! I will work out exact pricing once we get all the quotes back from each hotel, but more than likely it will add between $400-$500 to the total price if you'd like to get your own room. - Just so everyone isn't confused by Derek's post...Balder is NOT in England, nor is it on the tour, it is in Sweden at Liseberg. Derek, Dan, Robb & I (and I'm sure more people) are adding it on as a day trip! Again, this is what I'm talking about when I tell you we're here to help you with ALL your travel plans, including add on days not covered by TPR! (Although if we do get enough interest I could look into making it an official add on day!) Come on guys, isn't the UK enough!!!?!??!?
SonOfBeastSucks Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Sounds like fun! I will be going on the first gorup trip that is planned after I graduate college! Until then, have fun everyone!
OzCatter Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Check should be there by Tuesday at the latest. -Cal
BarryH Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I would like to go to Disneyland Paris and Disney Studio Paris if there's time. I just have to figure out how much vacation time I can burn up for the trip. I can't buy vacation time like some lucky people! If I don't go to Silver Dollar City or Six Flags Great Adventure before the trip, I think I will hit my 300th coaster somewhere on the trip. I'm 5 away from #300. It must be...Vekoma goodness?
SharkTums Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Hmmm...so the 5th coaster you hit in the UK would be your 300???? I might have to modify the itinerary to make sure it's something really awful! Eh, I'll just make sure there's a crappy kiddy credit nearby!
Costakid Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Crap, only 5 day later and I would have been able to go. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. On the bright side, thats $2500 that I get to keep...
