cjeagle35 Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 ^^Sorry, I just don't see myself as a fan boy. Kings Island is my homepark, and I like Cedar Point, but I'm not niave enough to think they've never made a mistake. Its just when you say Cedar Fair isn't going to put in any good attractions into a park attended by 3 million people, that I will make an arguement. That simply doesn't make any business sense. While I don't agree with the X-Flight decision, you have to realize, CF will do what is best for business, thats how amusement parks work.
PKI Jizzman Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Woooow......didnt know they took out the loop of SOB to make room for X-Flight! what I ment...
matteocrepaldi Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 I'm really glad that it's going to Kings Island because next year I'll be able to get the credit.
mcjaco Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 I sincerely doubt that Cedar Point is well known in Chicago. But, yeah it's obviously well known in Michigan, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. However, Ohio CP fanboys are highly obnoxious. Cedar Point is pretty well known. They don't do a ton of advertising, but I'd say we know it's there. SFGAm pretty much takes over the airwaves starting in March. Again, why is this thread still going???? And why can't I keep away?
Carnage Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Again, why is this thread still going???? And why can't I keep away? It's like a car accident. You just can't help but slow down and turn your head trying to catch a gimpse of the damage.
rollermonkey Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 It'll proably keep popping up until the ride actually opens.

SFGAm pretty much takes over the airwaves starting in March. Is it well known to the average schmoe in Chicago? Or just with "out of town roller coaster weirdos"? It would seem odd for the average Chicagoan to make the pilgrimage to Sandusky when they have Great America and Wisconsin Dells. Again, why is this thread still going???? And why can't I keep away? My parents ignored me as a child. So I have to argue on the Interweb to feel good about myself.
mcjaco Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 ^ I'd say if you told the average Chicagoan if they had heard of Cedar Point, a good protion would say yes. I have non coaster freak friends that know of it. I'm not saying it's a vacation getaway, but it's a know theme park in this state as well. We get a lot of ads for Indiana Beach too. Oddly, Kiddieland and Santa's Village rarely advertised. At least not in the past 10 years, when I was a kid they did all the time. Now if you asked them if they'd heard of Six Flags in St. Louis.....I'd say no way.

ParkTrips Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 hey if I have random non-coaster friends down in Atlanta that know of Cedar Point I would think that those in the Great Lakes would be fairly familiar... sigh
speedracer Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 ^ even out here, when non-coaster people find out I'm a coaster fool, the first they ask me is if I've heard of CP. Sandusky and CP are so used now in maintream media, it's almost to the point where CP/Sandusky are becoming pop references. OT, I'm just glad they didn't move this thing to PGA, that would have been a slap in the face!
Airtime&Gravity Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I don't see how this will be KI's ten million attraction. I hope that it is themed to the scale of Borg, but I still think that they will have money left over. CF could really do something with this, but knowing them, they will build it on a slab of concrete.

disneygurlz2s Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Not sure if this is posted anywhere else, but it has been confirmed by photos on several coaster websites and in the local media that trucks containing large sections of bright green track have been rolling into the PKI lot all week. I can tell you (since hubby is a seasonal employee) that it is, indeed, X Flight and that it is supposedly going in somehere in the vicinity of the Racer. (I am assuming that it would be going to the north of Racer and east of Flight of Fear as there is substantial undeveloped territory there.) PKI makes the official media announcement on February 5th. Shari
PKI Jizzman Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Allll that can be found on previous pages....there were pics from December of a cleared section behind the flight of Fear...yes.....everyone knows... The whole concrete joke is old.....I just hope that there is some cool scenery or landscaping along with it....water underneath it like BORG would be sweeeeet!

SF theming is ten times better then anything at any CF park before the purchase of Paramount. CF parks are nothing but concrete.
PKI Jizzman Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 And so are every other park; Id rather walk on concrete than dirt! I think the whole "CF is nothing but concrete" thing is stupid, when you need to make room for new rides, you have to pave so people would get to the ride...
mcjaco Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 ^ Um yeah, you pave paths to the rides, not the entire area....\ Why can't this thread die...... Stabs thread multiple times
disneygurlz2s Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Allll that can be found on previous pages....there were pics from December of a cleared section behind the flight of Fear...yes.....everyone knows... Ummm...sorry.... I didn't have the opportunity to read all 32 pages of this thread, but based on the comments on the last couple of pages, it seemed as if there were some people who still doubted that this was what it was? Why can't this thread die...... Why are you still reading/posting to it if it bugs you??? Shari "Geesh, sorry" Shoufler

SF theming is ten times better then anything at any CF park before the purchase of Paramount. CF parks are nothing but concrete. Yes, I especially love their parking lot coasters, those are my favorite themed rides ever. Honestly I don't see why we hold CF and SF to the same standards as the Disneys and Univerisal's of the world. These resort parks make exponentually more than the simple regional amusement park. CF and SF can't simply afford to have the same quality of theming. As long as the parks are landscaped well (flowers, trees, ect.). I don't have a problem with them.
jamesdillaman Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 ^ X-Flight was pretty much a parking lot coaste at GL. Hopefully it will sit on top of something better at PKI than it's setting at Geauga Lake, which was awful. Didn't even have grass. -James Dillaman
coaster05 Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Really SF has parking lot coasters I had never noticed that. I sure am glad I can come to this thread and pick up these wonderful bits of wisdom. So I am curious outside of the Camp Snoopy areas where is all that wonderful CF theming I am getting ripped on at. Because when I am wandering around a SF park I see these different sections as I go from place to place and I was wondering where those divisions and areas are at CF. I was obviously not trying to compare SF to Disney I was just saying that I find SF to have more theming, not perfect theming, than CF.
jamesdillaman Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 ^Maverick DOES seem to have pretty good theming going in with it, so we'll have to wait and see. But yeah, six flags theming is good, too. Like how they theme most of their parks to an old themepark with broken-down rides. That's pretty cool. And I think Walt would personally come out of his grave and smack you if you seriously compared SF to Disney. -james dillaman
