Lady Gaga Lawsuit!

Recommended Posts

So I came across a very interesting lawsuit today... Apparently Lady Gaga is being sued by her former producer...

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A former producer to pop sensation Lady Gaga has sued his one-time protege for more than $30 million claiming he was instrumental to her success but unable to profit from it when their romance ended.

In his lawsuit, filed on Wednesday in New York State Supreme Court, Rob Fusari contends he was a key figure in transforming the ambitious young woman named Stefani Germanotta into the pop phenomenon she is today, even helping coin her moniker, Lady Gaga.

But when their romance fizzled, Fusari was cut out of her record deal, failed to be paid royalties on subsequent music sales and was shortchanged on the producer fees he was due.

"All business is personal. When those personal relationships evolve into romantic entanglements, any corresponding business relationship usually follows the same trajectory so that when one crashes they all burn. That is what happened here." the lawsuit said.

Lady Gaga, a 23 year-old double Grammy-award winner, is considered among the most exciting new pop artists of recent times and has sold over 10 million albums worldwide. She has cultivated a rabid fanbase with hits such as "Bad Romance" and Poker Face," and thrilled audiences with stunts such as setting her piano alight at the American Music Awards or having fake blood drip from her ribs in a live performance.

The suit details how Gaga met Fusari in March 2006 through a mutual friend. Initially unimpressed by her appearance, he asked her to sing and was "within seconds" blown away.

"Fusari thought Germanotta's songs were brilliant but lacked commercial appeal. He pushed her to explore different musical genres," the suit said.

As the relationship became romantic, the suit details how Fusari supposedly began crafting Germanotta's image, even accidentally purloining the Lady Gaga name.

"One day when Fusari addressed a cell phone text to Germanotta under the moniker "Radio Ga Ga" his cell phone's spell check converted "Radio" to "Lady." Germanotta loved it and "Lady Gaga" was born."

Linky $30 million... Really? Ugh some people.

Anways... Just wanted to know your thoughts on this!

I don't really care about this sort of thing because anyone can sue anyone and who really knows the real story, right? I don't wish Lady Gaga to have to pay the $30 million, but I also don't wish for the ex-douche to lose out of money that was supposed to be paid to him. Hopefully what's right will be done for both parties (assuming the truth us being told here).

Speaking of being sued does anyone know what happened to the case about Coldplay being sued due to Viva la Vida violating copyright law or something like that?

Settled last September Viva La Vida is all Coldplays. Joe Satriani did get something but settlement is sealed.

^Yeah, I thank thats how it came to be.

I can't really make any points in this thread, because I can't really figure out what the thing is saying.

However, if this is one of those incidents where the other side just wants to be money-hungry. Then thats not fair for Gaga.

As much as I can't stand Gaga's music, it doesn't seem fair on her end. As it seems like she did not do anything wrong besides make music that makes babys cry.

Lady Gaga is has now sued Furasi

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't mess with Lady Gaga.

The wild-styled singer fired back at her former producer Friday in a lawsuit saying he's the one who broke the law by duping her into signing an illegal contract.

Lady Gaga's ex-lover and producer, Rob Fusari, sued the singer for more than $30 million on Thursday, claiming he came up with her stage name and co-wrote some of her hit songs.

But Gaga's lawsuit says the contract between her and Fusari is invalid because Fusari was not a licensed talent agent.

Not only do Gaga's lawyers want Fusari's suit thrown out, they want him to pay damages to the superstar singer for trying to take advantage of an "inexperienced performing artist."

Fusari made Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, "enter into an unlawful arrangement" when he made her sign a contract giving him rights to her future earnings, the suit says, calling his actions "predatory and financially abusive."

"The ... arrangement was structured in such a way as to mask its true purpose - to provide the defendant unlawful compensation for their services as unlicensed employment agents," the suit says.

Germanotta and Fusari met in March 2006 when he was looking for a female rocker with "garage band chops," according to his lawsuit.

The producer, who worked with Destiny's Child on "Bootylicious," says he persuaded Germanotta to add dance beats to her music and call herself Lady Gaga.

Fusari's lawyer, Robert Meloni, called the claim "ludicrous" when he read the suit last night.

"Rob was no more of an 'agent' for her than she is a Roman Catholic nun," Meloni said.

I love this quote. It's exactly what I think of Lady Gaga. She's a talented singer/song writer, but she's not nearly hot enough. So she just stole Madonna and Cher's over-the-top act to have commercial success as well. I just wish she could admit that it is all an act instead of trying to say it is just "an expression of who I am."
