Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Those weekend crowds in September are notoriously some of the busiest of the year. I'm talking 45 minute-long lines for the swinging ship ride. If you're committed to that date, Flash Pass is key for a tolerable experience.

I am looking into it already. And I am ok with the pricing. We would probably just do the Platinum. I have a question though that I can't seem to find the answer to. Can Flass Pass be used an unlimited number of times on all of the rides? I know you can do consecutive rides on select rides... but lets say, for example, if we rode kingda ka and rode consecutively on that, then a couple hours later we decided to go back and do it again, is that part of the program? I don't know if I would find it to be worth it if the capped the number of times you are allowed to use it per ride.

Actually, now that I think about it, they'll tell you if this is not the case. There may be a ride that you're given a specific time frame for and only one ride, but otherwise, it should be unlimited (unlike Hershey and Kennywood). Someone will correct me soon enough.

^ I think they mean double rides on platinum FP. I have never gotten platinum FP at Great Adv but at SFOG I did multiple double rides throughout the day on everything, including having a personal marathon on Goliath at the end of the night since the wait for me on the Qbot was 5 minutes and I used the doubleride every ride- reriding twice and walking around. I'm sure it's just like this @ Great Adv, maybe not for Joker since its new. In fact I think you can only use platinum FP for Joker anyway.

But as far as what Bill said if there is no one in your row they'll let you reride til your arms fall off.

Three days ago I just asked about what this upcoming weekend and no one said anything. Reservations made already.

(Re; Saturday, you know the answer. Actually, I may have broken my own rule. Think of when you want to go, then you know the worst time to go.)

I have a feeling Sunday might be quiet. Still trying to get over if I can. Rain in morning, Eagles and Giants games on Sunday, last day of Hurricane Harbor, other than BAFF (which is Saturday and Sunday) there is nothing going on at the park. Next week the fright fest crowds should start.

Yeah hope so. I know I went the same day 2 years in a row to SFA, 3rd weekend of Sept., first was good the second year was mobbed, who knows why.

I was going to look and see if I saw you.

So the regular flash pass: I'm guessing you can reserve one ride and since it's electronic you don't have to be at the ride to reserve it? I was planning to stay 'til close, but the regular flash is same price as another night in a hotel...

Regular you wait same time as line is just not in line. If you want to ride Toro and it's 30 mins you wait 30 minutes just not in line. Go eat or fart around or ride something without a line. Show up at or a few minutes before your reserved time. Gold cuts wait time in half. Platinum 90% but you also get a wristband for doublerides. Gold usually gets the job done nicely unless it's absolutely mobbed.

Protip: always reserve your next ride as soon as you pass the flash pass attendant. This way you are optimizing your time by "waiting" for your next ride while you're loading, riding, unloading, and exiting your current ride. If you time it right you won't wait much at all (depending on crowd levels of course).

We are going to just do the platinum. I've waited years to go. And probably won't get a chance to come back for years from now. Might as well maximize our time. Plus we can't stay late either. We have to drive back home 6 hours after. I doubt we will even see any of the FF stuff. Lol. Oh well. I'm going for the coasters anyways.

It sucks so you're not missing anything. And I would normally agree with Genx24 but if you only have 6 hours then yeah, buy the Flash Pass right away.

Really appreciate all the assistance. Booking everything today. We are excited.

I can't imagine fright fest at SFGAdv being anything different than SFMM.... and I agree... it sucks. Never wasted my time there. Always did USH or local haunt attractions instead lol

I used to always go to SFGAdv on mid-September Sundays to light crowds, but it's been about 3 years. At the time I don't think FF events started until late-Sept and ran for only 5 weeks. Does anyone recall when FF stared operating at SFGAdv in mid-September.?

2013 was the first year that they started running Fright Fest earlier that year. They even had the park open on Friday nights in September that year that were really empty.

2012 they had Fright Fest start on the 22nd and on 2011 not until October 1st.

OK,that makes perfect sense. I'm not going senile.

Those Friday nights in 2013 were the best. I went two weeks in a row and my friends and I basically had the park to ourselves both weeks. I understand why they got rid of them, but I wish they hadn't.

I remember it being the same way on Sunday mornings.
