cfc Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 (edited) I definitely give Carowinds the edge when it comes to food; their Taste of the Carolinas festival last spring was very good. Guess you didnt eat at kd for the bbq and brew fest.... No, I didn't get up there for the BBQ Fest, but I did for their Spring Bloom Festival, which had some good offerings, but was pretty modest compared to Taste of the Carolinas. I'm hoping that KD will continue to improve their food, though. The park is moving in the right direction. Edited August 9, 2015 by cfc
DonkeysWaffles Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Just got off of my last ride on Shockwave. Piece of sh*t.
TB305 Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Thank goodness. Rode the for the last time in July and as soon as we hit the helix I remembered why I hated it.
Tee1999 Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Thank goodness. Rode the for the last time in July and as soon as we hit the helix I remembered why I hated it. Yeah, well considering that I'm about 5'5 on those little airtime hills the damn ride kept forcefully making me jump off my seat and almost causing me to fly off the thing and kill myself. The thing is a biohazard for short people. Won't be missing it.
DonkeysWaffles Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Damn. Dominator's more forceful than I remember.
coasterbill Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Damn. Dominator's more forceful than I remember. It really is, I love the way it yanks you down the drop if you sit in the very back row.
DonkeysWaffles Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Rebel Yell is insane in the back. I will never forgive Kings Dominion if they take it down.
jarmor Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Rode shockwave for probably my last time. I just don't wanna go thru that again lol. Been marathoning the drop box slides, just love them!!!
DonkeysWaffles Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Does anyone black out more on Backlot than I305? Because I sure did.
Tee1999 Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Does anyone black out more on Backlot than I305? Because I sure did. I only blackout on backlot if I only ride the first row. That helix can sometimes be powerful.
Hugecoltsfan Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Rebel Yell is insane in the back. I will never forgive Kings Dominion if they take it down. I rode Rebel Yell yesterday and it was brutal. Does anybody else find Flight of Fear really rough?

certifiedcoastergeek Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Here's the article that will be printed tomorrow morning in the RT-D: http://m.richmond.com/news/local/article_973d2821-4711-531e-a76a-a856b3439565.html?mode=jqm Thay called the Intimidator 305 the Intimidator 360 . A few things to note are that a) Pat Jones stated that the Shockwave might be sold or donated (sorry, Dorney). b) She also said that it was being removed for a new attraction. Singular. That means a coaster (or an upcharge slingshot or a disko. Whatever we get, it's only one ride.) Flat-package hopefuls go home.

BTW this business of only running one train on Volcano is ridiculous.
marth555 Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I heard Volcanos other train is having its yearly inspection
ernierocker Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Went ahead and cleaned this thread up and took care of a certain member who didn't want to play nice with others. Now, I bring you back to your regularly scheduled Kings Dominion thread already in progress.
jarmor Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 It was asked about the line for intimidator, I waited. For one train
BeansproutMidget Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I still find it funny that the line for I305 is always shorter than Volcano's. I'm not surprised, since a lot of people I know are still scared of I305, but will ride Volcano for eternity. But, it still makes me laugh.
Yubstep101 Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Well, today is when the last TOGO stand-up in America (North and South) closes.

The only thing I get out of the article is that: 1) ShockWave is out after today. 2) Something new is coming for 2016. I think the park's general manager, Pat Jones, gave enough information concerning ShockWave's fate and a confirmation/tease that Kings Dominion is getting something for 2016. I would not think a major park official would spill the beans on specifics of what's coming until the park is ready to make the official announcement. The attraction could be a single ride; But, what if the "A New Attraction" is an expanded Candy Apple Grove area with 2-3 new and/or classic flat rides? Given that the reporter was being a little inaccurate on ride names; they could have misquoted Pat when interviewing her. In any case, I'll just "stay home" until I hear/see Kings Dominion's official 2016 announcement.
DonkeysWaffles Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Shockwave is now officially a defunct coaster.
DILinator Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Shockwave is now officially a defunct coaster. Apologies to its fans, but...
Tee1999 Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I know you guys are tired of all this speculation but I've stumbled across this website about the replacement of shockwave and other future attractions. We can't for sure tell if its true or not but here. http://themeparksandtravels.com/2015/07/29/kings-dominion-update-and-the-latest-rumors-could-kings-dominion-be-clearing-land-behind-i-305/
