Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom Discussion Thread

p. 201 - Iron Menace announced for 2024!

I accompanied JCoaster to the park today and just wanted to echo the thoughts re: Steel Force. The front row is great, and I was catching major pops of air on all bunny hills. The ride moved itself up from "meh" to "acceptable". Crazy how the air up front doesn't compare to any other row on the train, even row two.

I might be mistaken, but I seem to recall reading that they are mounts for a trim brake, that obviously isn't needed there.

Yes those are for trims.

I was at work all day, wish I would've known you were at the park, would of liked to meet you Jcoaster.

And in regards to the Steele force logo caption: " Oh that was suppose to be mantis logo but named banshee"

Went to the park for an hour on Tuesday night and managed to do quite a bit (no surprise). Took a solo ride on Talon, two rides (one being solo) on Hydra, two laps on Thunderhawk, and a ride on Stinger. Was going to do Steel Force, but a nearby storm put a damper in that.

I pretty much left an hour before closing since the rain was starting to pick up and the operators at the coasters were leaving early for the day.

Great report/photos/captions JCoaster, looks like you guys had fun. Made me want to go to Dorney lol. Glad you guys got to see the light of the front car on Steel Force. I rank it a lot higher than I'm sure most do but only when sitting in the first three rows, I think its a great ride.

Final thought: Hydra still sucks and happy Possessed is still kicking ass and taking names.

Still one of the best flumes. Prefer it over Gadv or Hershey's.

Agreed, it's still my favorite flume of all time. I do miss having even more trees and seclusion (pre-Hydra), but the ride is still completely solid. Hell, it's probably my favorite ride in the entire park.

The passholder early entry stuff is behind a passholder login page. I've copied the text below for your benefit.

Season Passholders will be allowed to enter the park 30 minutes prior to park open every Friday-Sunday through Labor Day. In addition to early entry, Passholders will receive ERT (extra ride time) on the Antique Carrousel, Wave Swinger and Talon.

Wildwater Kingdom will open early everyday so passholders can grab their spot in the sun. Enter the waterpark through the l*cker building 30 minutes prior to the scheduled waterpark opening for Passholders to get a seat and enjoy a wave pool daily.

I've noticed them sometimes opening other rides early as well, so just keep your eyes open when you get there.

Ride ops are supposed to take their chain down and call their ride in as open once they're done finishing daily tests. This can take anywhere between 5 and 45 minutes from you actually arriving at the ride. Most rides should be open 5-15 minutes before official park opening. Whether or not that's actually happening, I can't comment.

Forgot to mention this in the TR, but it is disheartening how much space dinosaurs alive takes up back there. Never realized it till yesterday. There are actually many spots within the park that Dorney could asd major attractions.

Don't be disheartened. Our ship will come in soon. And by ship I mean Space Ship, and by Space Ship I mean Flight of Fear. Actually wait is it still going to be themed to Flight of Fear or is Dominion keeping the aliens? Let's check the "other sites" that are talking about this hot rumor to see what the latest buzz is.

Also if Aliens are coming maybe the dinosaurs were just planted there beforehand to screw with us. Instead of Flight of Fear we could call it "Scientology the Ride" since that follows a similar plot line.

Ha Ha Ghost Town in the Sky. There's already a Scientology Space Alien ride before you could get your Jesus park open.

According to the rumors I've seen on some other threads, Dorney just going to get a giant, empty building. So, Dorney could theme it to whatever they wanted. It could be extraterrestrial dinosaurs if they really felt inspired.

It all makes sense now.

A giant meteor didn't wipe out the dinosaurs, they all left Earth on a giant spaceship.

New for 2017: Dinosaurs Alive: In Space!

Alright! Now if they can perfect the zero gravity inside the building, I am sold! Who doesn't want animatronic dinosaurs floating around inside of a planetarium?

I'm assuming Kings Dominion will keep the queue building. Dorney has no use for a queue building... Too bad... it's a cool queue.

What will they do on the 3-4 days a year when the line is longer than a station wait then?

Oh that's right, put the second train on.

The original station floor will be replaced with trampolines. They won't put in the zero gravity section for a couple years however; they already used their budget for the next five years on this relocation.

Does Flight of Fear have separate loading and unloading stations? If they only run one train with the two stations that might create a line.

Yes, Flight of Fear does have separate loading and unloading stations. I think they would run two trains. Interestingly enough, the Flight of Fear at Kings Dominion has three trains whereas the one at Kings Island has four. I doubt they've used all four or three in years. I also doubt that Flight of Fear from Kings Dominion would get relocated to Dorney Park.

According to the recent rumors that have been "going around", we're getting Flight of Fear from King's Dominion.

There were rumors going around saying that Dorney might be getting the Flight of Fear rollercoaster from Kings Dominion to replace Dino's Alive. Has anyone heard anything about that?

I mean, it would be nice if it were relocated to Dorney Park. But, I thought it was a very popular coaster at Kings Dominion? Or has the ridership been steadily declining over the years? But, I could be wrong or the rumours could be nothing at all, but rumours.

Maybe Dorney will only get the building like some people are saying and they'll build a roller coaster to compete with Skull Mountain
