I have always been told that you learn something new everyday. Whether it is something about yourself, something about your work/school or just the world around you, there is always something to learn.

So lets hear it, what is something new that you learned today?

I'll start with a couple:

-How to make a process map using Windows Visio

-Corporate bonds

-Credits and Debits in accounting

and for something fun, the floor layout of the Bellagio.

Real GDP decreased 2.4 percent in 2009. As a matter of opinion, my professor has suggested that the economy is likely to have a double dip recession as the commercial market now has a bubble that needs to be popped, similar to the recessions in the early 80's.

I learned that Rembrandt was a baroque painter when dutch churches weren't allowed to have any sort of decorations, and therefore they often had no art in them, which left most of the art of that era in the hand's of agnostic p---

I learned that the best way to prank a friend is to put your bike lock on their bike when they are still at Walmart. Then telling them that I left a key nearby and they need to search for it!

Recently I got the idea that Pinfari came up with the "Zyklon" model name as a play on the word "Cyclone". Then today I learned that Zyklon actually means cyclone. So I was even more right than I knew! lol

It's nice to know they had a good reasoning behind a name that could potentially seem insensitive. This addresses that issue.

The insensitive meaning of "Zyklon" rides never even crossed my mind untill I read your post.

I learned what DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) is...

Apparently, 12-48 hours after you begin a new work out routine you experience severe pain that is at it's worst on the 2ND day... Unfortunately, today is only the first day and tomorrow we are running a beep test.

The state fish of Wyoming and Idaho is the cutthroat trout, so named because of the red coloration on its lower jaw. Frankly, I was hoping for a cooler and more sinister origin behind the name, but there's my factoid of the day.

^I always have a hard time fathoming that Mauna Loa and Kea (Haleakala too) have seasonal snow atop them. That is a cool statistic though, and quite the phenomena!

Well, I learned that Queen Elizabeth is the head of state of Canada. Meaning the England still has a relative control over Canada. I honestly feel like I should know way more about Canada than I actually do.

I learned that filling the handlebars of a motorcycle with expanding foam significantly reduces the vibration transmitted through the bars.
