HCLcoasters Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 10. Millennium Force #2 16. Apollo's Chariot #14 17. Maverick #1 19. Nitro #20 27. Griffon #6 30. Storm Runner #12 31. Top Thrill Dragster #7 34. Superman - Ride of Steel @Six Flags America #21 48. Raptor #38 54. Alpengeist #5 I wish I had a bigger count so I could actually compare my list more thoroughly.
downunder Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I was checking out how close Eagle's Fortress came to being number 1, it had a 4-4 tie with Bizarro but what really killed it was a 2-1 loss (Bizarro had no losses) to Mammut (the Italian Minetrain, that is), damn you Mammut fanboys!
thrillrider Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I thought bizzaro was just "meh". The lap bars hurt my legs. Where was tennessee tornado on this list? Did I miss it?
downunder Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 ^Ten Tornado was #125. I think Bizarro, which has new trains doesn't have the old leg irons of SROS?
Blythy Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Poor for new uk coasters. Saw and Mumbo Jumbo are way down. Colossus was quite good I thought, better than Nemesis Inferno imo (which was a lousy copy of Nemesis ) Stealth is probably better than kingda ka because of the lack of letdown factor that you might get. Plus, I thought it was awesome. As for PMBO, very low, has a cracking start and a very good end. pity the bit from the turnaround to the helix is shit. I think the ranking system is a bit off for people like myself, who haven't ridden that many coasters, Air is my lowest, but definately wouldn't say it's shit.
cobra_roll06 Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 There is a strange comfort in knowing that I live one mile away from the worst coaster in the world...
Gav Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I also don't understand how Batman: The Ride came out ahead of, for example, Talon. B:TR is by far my least favorite invert. Wait in a dank station to get in a tight seat and then go through the ugliest scenery on any coaster anywhere? I don't think so. Don't forget that ranking includes all the B:TR clones (Great White, Goliath, Vampire etc) not just the one at your local Six Flags. Others might be better themed. Or perhaps people just ranked it higher because it has an awesome, forceful layout.
downunder Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 There is a strange comfort in knowing that I live one mile away from the worst coaster in the world... If your photo is anything to go by, you must ride it a lot (Steeeve!). I'm amazed anything could supplant Goudurix at the bottom of the table. I was surprised Ninja from SFOG rated near the borttom, I mean it's crap but not that crap. I'm always torn between mediocrity and level of painfulness for my bottom coaster, this year I went for extreme mediocrity combined with a seriously large unacceptable level of wetness.

Medusa1861 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Wow. Not to complain about numbers or specific placements. But I've used polls like these as a basis for what is "good" and what is not. I disagree with too many of the top. And not just like oh this 3rd place should've been 8. I mean like far. Montu was horrible. (I rode front and back) Kumba on the other hand surprisingly well and that i must agree on. the placement is probably where it should be. Apollo wasn't very good, neither was Bizarro (SROS). Nitro also. It has to be just me but those two B&M Hypers give me no forces at all. I'm really hoping now with this TPR trip that Expedition GeForce, Nemesis, and Goliath (WW) aren't let downs. I guess it is back to the old fashion way. Ride whatever looks good and not what people tell me is good.
ginzo Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 ^If you didn't like Bizarro, why would you expect to like GeForce and Dutch Goliath?
ParkTrips Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 ^ Because they come with "HAHA I went to Europe and you're stuck here riding inferior Intamins at crappy Six Flags parks" bragging rights?
hyyyper Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 ...Montu was horrible... Go back to Tampa and aquire some taste NOW!
CreditCrazy Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Here's a fun little game from another site... Look at the Steel and Wood results: Steel - http://www.ushsho.com/detailedsteelrollercoasterpollresults2009.htm Wood - http://www.ushsho.com/detailedwoodrollercoasterpollresults2009.htm And see how "good" your count is. 30 points for every coaster you've ridden in the Top 5. 20 points for every coaster you've ridden in the Top 10. 10 points for every coaster you've ridden in the Top 20. 5 points for every coaster you've ridden in the Top 30. 1 point for every coaster you've ridden in the Top 50. Then add the Steel and Wood up for your total. Mine: Steel: Diamondback – 30 Millennium Force – 20 Maverick – 10 Phantom’s Revenge – 5 Top Thrill Dragster – 1 Tatsu – 1 Xcelerator – 1 X2 – 1 Raptor – 1 Total: 70 Wood: Voyage – 30 Raven – 10 Terminator Salvation – 5 Legend – 1 Giant Dipper – 1 Thunderbolt – 1 Total: 48 Overall: 118
ParkTrips Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Because I'm curious.. Steel - 179 Wood - 198 I've been on probably 3x as many steel coasters as wood ones - I wonder if I got more points because I tend to seek better wooden coasters, or because a higher percentage of top wooden coasters are in the US where I have done probably 90% of my coaster riding.
larrygator Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 All this tells you is who the real dorks are, but still fun. Steel = 298 Wood = 302 I tried to add Robb's since I think I know where he has been and I'm guessing he nets out around: Steel = 369 Wood = 378
Pufferfish Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Here's mine, not too impressive... Steel: 87 Wood: 20 Overall: 107 This tells me I need to ride more woodies.
jbarner14 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Here's mine: Steel: 132 Wooden: 166 Total: 298 It helps when you've ridden 4 of the top 5 wooden roller coasters.
downunder Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Steel - 160 Wood - 234 I think mine shows that a lot of the top rated wood coasters are in the US.
Skycoastin Steve Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Wood: 160 - not too shabby for only 45 rated Steel: 138 - blech, my steel list isn't that great
therooboy Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Steel 147 Wood 23 Total 170 & after my 2010 Summer US trip Steel 268 Wood 211 Total 479
