Skyscraper Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Hi ! The rumors were true, we are getting the used Vekoma SLC from Astroworld for 2010 ! This is really strange since La Ronde already has a B&M inverted, Le Vampire. I hope they bought new trains with the new lapbar style restraints. Guest Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Are we sure this ride is being built? Theres been a few times where rides have been sent to other parks for storage (such as Batman being sent to Darien Lake). I just cant see this happening, why build a crappy invert when theres an awesome invert in the same park. If it is built though I might actually have to consider believing the Chang rumor EDIT nevermind I see that its been painted. Sucks for you guys!
John Peck Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Personally, I really do not like this idea. It should have gone up at Great Escape. I heard that the trains for this ride were sent to SFNE. Should be interesting to see what happens.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Unless Vampire is being sent elsewhere..... RIDE TRADE IS BACK!!!!
B-RadG Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 If y'all will notice you can see that the track and supports have been painted. SF is also copying CF's trademarked red track and yellow supports... someone call Mr. Kinzel I think we have a lawsuit on our hands. (From RCDB) when it was at Great Escape. Notice how it looks crummy and the supports are blue.
atem122 Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 I think they should name it Lightning Hawk just for the hell of it
coasterdude5 Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Interesting, an SLC and a BTR all in one park. I guess anything is possible now! It's good to see an Astroworld ride coming back to life.
DBru Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 ^I believe another one recently reopened at Wonderland Amusement Park in Amarillo, Texas. Now let's see the others follow suit!
KDCOASTERFAN Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 This makes no sense at all, unless their B&M invert is being relocated or scrapped.
ebl Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Maybe the B&M is going for a ride to another Six Flags park. There've been several relocated, so why not one more? With some Six Flags parks "trading" coasters, it's made me wonder which ride at SFMM will be traded for another? Is it possible that Scream! was put in the parking lot with no theming to make it convenient for dismantling and relocating...? Eric
Speeddeamon128 Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Now I have to ride another SLC since I'm going to La Ronde next year

Eric Perhaps they're facing noise concerns as a reason to remove the ride? There's no marketing value in installing an SLC at a park that has a B&M invert as they're both the same basic type of ride experience. That ranks right up there in stupidity with the whole removing chang to send of to SFGRAM rumor when they already have a standup coaster there.
larrygator Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 The inside LaRonde sits upon is sinking into the river!

Just about all B&M's (other than Iron Wolf) are better than a SLC.
monsterfan99 Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 ^ I'd take Iron Wolf over T2 any day and I want Iron Wolf torn down. This move makes no seance at all. Then again, this is Six Flags we are talking about. So nothing should come as a shock at all with this company.
THE ONE Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 ^ I just rode Iron Wolf 2 weeks ago, this is the first time in 3 years I have been on it and I have to say I don't think it is that much rougher than it was 3 years ago. Course you just have to know what position to ride it.
xVicesAndVirtues Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 My home park is Great Escape...where this SLC has been sitting since 2005. To this, I can only say one thing... THANK YOU LA RONDE! But seriously, if you want to give us your BTR since we shared first and gave you our SLC, pleaaaase feel free
Calicoasters Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 ^ Yeah right, Vampire is going to SFMM receiving a new paint job and installed right behind our existing Batman The Ride to make Batman The Rides
coasterfan21 Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Unless Vampire is being sent elsewhere..... RIDE TRADE IS BACK!!!! SFNE's t-shirts confirm it lol (Sorry its so big)
almightyfire Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 I have questioned sf decisions since the new head man got there. I didn't see any sense in a few things like putting the same ride in 2 parks that are 200 miles apart. I hated that ride when it first came to Astroworld. Not really hated just thought it was a waste of money. Then I started seeing it in half of the parks. six flags has become boring when it comes to ride selections. most of their rides seem generic.
Homer Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 All I can say is, this better have an interesting gimmick like backwards trains, lasers, two whole minutes underwater.
Skyscraper Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 Well I heard that it will be the most themed ride we ever had. Well it's easy to beat since there's not much theming anywhere...
chemical_echo Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Perhaps they're facing noise concerns as a reason to remove the ride? The park is on an island, and the ride is pretty close to one of the shores, so there is nowhere that would have any noise pollution from the ride. Plus, if I remember correctly, Cobra made just as much noise as Vampire did.
