anonymouscactus
I got some name ideas for Darien Lake's new water slide complex * Rainbow Mountain (because of the concept art for the slide complex has rainbow colors) Rainbow mountain would also be a blast from the past. I believe the slides that 'Cuda Falls replaced was rainbow mountain.
SbSteveZ
From the looks of it we don't know the color of the train yet do we? I'm wondering if they're gonna keep that red/blue theme or if they're gonna go a different direction - that could show whether or not they intend to paint the ride a different color in the long run if you really think about it. I personally think a silver color would be cool, since that is the color of steel, and for the time being the ride is still referred to as "Ride of Steel" and silver would match a LOT of different color combinations for the track and the supports! Yes, Rainbow Mountain was Darien Lake original water slides and don't forget that Cascade Canyon would also be another blast from the past. Cascade Canyon was the slide complex that was next to Rainbow Mountain and later 'Cuda Falls that got replaced with the Shipwreck Falls boat flume ride for the "dry" park. Sk610
I have to say I like the rainbow mountain name for the new slide. It pays homage to an old attraction, plus looks to have rainbow colors, which should be pretty cool.
SbSteveZ
While we wait for anything new from Darien lake, I figured a little MFI news would be nice to see. It appears as if they have repainted the Silver Comet trains to a very fancy shmancy attractive Blue color! Also, I know they had the Ferris wheel up for sale but when i drove past it about a week or so ago, it was still standing in its usual home. coasterkid124
As for Silver Comet, why would they repaint the cars again? They were just repainted a few years ago and looked great with all the different colors. Not that I hate the blue, but Predator already has blue trains. The old color scheme made it much more unique. Philrad71
^ I was wondering that myself. The line for SC has always been painfully slow with one train operations, it would be great if this really was a 2nd train. I know that the park is small and all, but the wait times for it when the park is even moderately busy is slow as molasses. To see both SC and Ride of Steel get two trains would be a big improvement. coasterkid124
While I do agree that SC could use a second train, the wait times would already be cut in half if Fantasy Island didn't have that horrible loading system in place. The ironic thing about the ops pushing down lap bars is that most of the time they leave it 2-3 clicks too loose.
Geauga Dog
Nice shade of blue on that Silver Comet train. I sort of liked the old gradual changing colors on the train, making it seem like a fiery comet flying around the track. Any hints of anything new coming to MFI this year? They've really been adding a lot of new attractions the past few years that maybe this will be an off year for the park.

coasterkid124
^^ I haven't seen anything for MFI yet, but usually they have earlier announcements. Last year's announcement was near the end of February. So they may be taking a year off after adding two things last year. This would be the first year that I can remember that something new wasn't added if that's the case. They could have also been planning something for where the ferris wheel is, but it hasn't been removed yet so they might keep it yet. Honestly, for a park as small as MFI, if they don't bring something new every year no matter how small, you would have to imagine that they would lose some business to Darien Lake. Families that might make a visit or two to both parks annually could just see better value in buying DL passes.
Mr.Peabody
The Silver Comet really isn't set up for two train operation. I don't think a second train would speed up operations there anyway, not with the current lap bar/stapling policy. Marty's reply when asked about a second train was, "They don't build churches for Easter." I don't think he'd invest the time or the money, IMHO. In regards to a retheme however I still stand by my hopes for a switch to pepsi products in the park and Ride Of Steel being rethemed to Mountain Dew - Ride Of Caffiene with green track and red supports. Not like that would happen though (one can dream).

coasterkid124
^It's not a legitimate concern if that poster has been known to derail threads before with crazy comments that are based on no facts whatsoever. Why in the world would DL sell Predator's second train if two train operations have been confirmed to be EXPANDED this season? Plus, why would Fantasy Island buy a second train for a coaster that has been operating one train for almost 20 years now, and the coaster does not have a PLC or safety sensors to support it. This is the same poster that claimed that Cedar Fair will buy the park to close it and run it as a water park only.

coasterkid124
Oh gotcha. I'm glad that someone agrees with me. The posts aren't even annoying anymore, it's aggravating. I get it if it an outsider just popped in and doesn't really follow the thread, but that's someone who views and responds to the thread on a normal basis. Just to throw those crazy ideas out there when things have been confirmed many times already is just getting old. Who makes a comment hoping that their home park will close for the heck of it? Now Darien Lake isn't a five star park, but it isn't terrible. I would never want that, ever. I still get passes every year and have fun every time I visit.
