Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread

P. 410: Discovery Meadow details revealed!

A mat racer of some form would be a great addition to Kentucky Kingdom. It felt strange that the waterpark didn't have one, as they are somewhat of a staple of modern waterparks. Given how popular the waterpark is compared to the ride park, I'd be a little surprised if not one of the seven attractions was for it.

If they got a mat racer it WOULD be a Kraken Racer. They're gonna try to differentiate between the slides at KI and especially HW and try to make theirs different and better. KI has an Octopus Racer, HW has a Pro Racer, so it only makes since for KK to have a Kraken Racer (or a new form?)

Kentucky Kraken would be a cool name.

Course I thought Penguin's should've been renamed Ice Cube Creek instead of Raging Rapids so they could have kept the theming.

I was just mentioning the fact that it looks like the base of a type of water slide, but hoping for the kraken racer since that is what I wanted lol

Dang it I was so exited there for a minute, that looked exactly like red RMC track.

Its the RMC track for Twisted Twins. There Starting to prep it early for next year

wait so KK is giving twisted twins the RMC treatment?

Basically

Well, we don't know for sure yet, but it's a pretty good guess. GG could also do something like they did with Hades. I think twisted twins will stay wood because both sides could be connected and become the longest wooden coaster. This could be RMC s first wood makeover.

Actually, TT's is only 3,000ft each so it couldn't be the longest wood coaster but maybe the longest racing wood coaster? Plus I think that they will make it steel because unlike alot of places they've done Hybrids, EX. SFFT & SFM. They have a good wood coaster (TR) to support losing one.

Sometimes I look at TT s layout and wonder, can RMC create a ride that will be as exiting and intense as their other hybrid conversions, TT is only 80feet tall. It seems like it wouldn't be able to maintain high speeds through its layout.

Never doubt what a small coaster is capable of, especially considering the hundred-foot tall coaster located at the front of the same park. It doesn't need high speeds. I'm sure whoever would be brought in to redo/retrack it would have plenty of turns and dips to work with to make it an enjoyable ride.

From what I've been hearing, the popular guess is that Twisted Twins will receive a conversion similar to Twisted Colossus. The ride will be converted into a RMC steel coaster and will have both tracks combined into one longer ride that may be marketed as the world's longest hybrid coaster (though if I'm not mistaken Twisted Twins has a steel support structure and technically wouldn't be a hybrid). The ride may also break one or two other records as well. Of course, it's far too early to tell but if this does come true I might have to make another trip to Kentucky Kingdom in 2016.

Twisted Twins isn't much smaller than Medusa, and from what I've heard Medusa Steel Coaster is just as good as the other conversions so far (some even say it's better). Granted, I've only seen a couple reviews, but based on that and Wicked Cyclone this year I'm sure Twisted Twins would be a top tier coaster if it was converted even if it's not quite as fast as other RMC rides.

I've heard from a ride operator @ KK that, RMC surveyed Twisted Twins when they were working on thunder run and already knows what they are going to do with.

Patrick, where did you find that photo?
Well I originally thought it was posted by KK themselves on their Facebook page but after looking at it again it was just posted on there by some guy named Justin :/

They probably have a good idea but will wait to see how everything works out with current installations and make possible tweaks.

I've found myself wondering the same thing. If you look at the old POVs, Twisted Twins just isn't all that fast or exciting. It's going to take a lot of modification to get a real thrill machine.

I have full faith in RMC. They have created some of the best steel and wood coasters in the world from some really far-gone rides.

Look at the Six Flags hybrids this year- Colossus had one of the least imaginative layouts for a racing coaster with a terribly slow pace, and Cyclone topped out around 40 mph with all the modifications that had been made through the years. There's not a doubt in my mind that if Alan Schilke does get a hold of this layout, he could make something spectacular out of it.

And you can always add on to the lift, you do know that, right? 80 feet now could become 100 when it's all said and done.

It was actually a pretty intense little coaster back in the day.
