Jojo19799
I never learned how to read. Neither can I. Maybe we should go to the Derek Zoolander Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too. I can't believe I just quoted Zoolander. Coasterdude, have fun at the park. I thought you were going next week? Oh wait, I can't read either, so nevermind. Griffin, are you going next week by chance?
coasterdude5
^ Thanks I did! Here's a trip report from the park: http://www.coaster101.com/2009/07/29/trip-report-six-flags-great-america/ I'll have one up on TPR soon.
VivaLaVibora
I don't care for King Chaos or Revolution that much. I usually end up in a great deal of pain and discomfort. Now Fiddler's Fling, that's where it's at. That thing flies! I think both King Chaos, and Revolution are run really, really tame. If those rides were up to par in the way they should be run, they might be great rides. Instead to me, they are wimpy. I've always said that Fiddler's Fling is the most intense ride in the park. It's a good ride, but nothing special in my opinion though. You were talking about Iron Wolf before, and the problem I see with the ride is that yes it will bang your head if you don't do nothing to avoid it, but that there is nothing really to it. It's a looping coaster, and it only goes upside down twice. It's a small layout, and it's much more painful (if you don't do nothing) than it was before with the old not as hard restraints. Chang, and Riddler's Revenge have more stuff going for them. Iron Wolf is a fun ride, but it's just kind of small. Before you were talking about rides crunching, while the ride that I get crunched on is Superman Ultimate Flight towards the end there, but I don't really care. If it hurts, big whoop. Iron Wolf line is usually pretty short, but if the line is long, it's because of really, really slow loading on that ride. For Buccaneer Battle, I think it's a failure. I think at Dollywood it was a failure too, and that's why they couldn't afford anything for this year except a Zipline. SFGAm has it's squirting at people like on Roaring Rapids already, and those hand cranks are just not fun to turn in my opinion. The people that get their jollys off of squirting people for money have been doing this for many years now. You put BB in, and those same people are scared for their lifes because now they might get wet from the people on the boat. They will just go back to Roaring Rapids than. monsterfan99
Some advice to those that use the Flash Pass. Last night, the line for Demon's Flash Pass was a good 15 minutes and 60-70 people deep. Be sure to check out the Flash Pass before reserving. Also they are now showing the Dark Knight movie near closing. Earlier this year, they had been turning it off to get people through the ride. I think that this is a good balance; no point on having it on during the day if it's busy, but if it's not at night, why let it go to waste? GriffyTiffy
Griffin, are you going next week by chance? On the 4th? I just learned that I'm going then, so, yes, indeed I will be in attendance (that sounded weird).

They just used to have it off only near closing. One other thing, the family of skunks struck again tonight. Their victims were the Demon station and que, Orbit area and Whizzer station. It's better with it off during the nighttime because if the line is minimal, why are you waiting an actual 5 minutes for no reason. There have been times when they had that movie on, and when you would get to the station, the cars were empty because we couldn't get to them. Airtime&Gravity
8/2 Update Visit #11 of 2009 Since it was a really nice day outside, the park was really crowded. Saturday had pretty miserable weather, so many who would have gone then probably went on Sunday. -Whizzer's queue, switchbacks and all, was spilling into the midway 15 minutes after opening -Dark Knight's queue was in the area outside the old theater -S:UF's queue varied between 90 minutes to 3 hours -The other major coasters, with the exception of Eagle, had waits of about an hour. Raging Bull had a bad case of the B&M rattle from the Stengal dive until the final set of brakes Viper was bipolar. The first ride was great with lots of airtime, but my second ride had no airtime. On Yankee Clipper, the kid who I was riding with and I were talking about how he would get soaked. I then made the comment that "with my luck, I will get soaked and you'll be dry". Guess what happened... Ride totals over the 5-6 hours I was there: Bull - 2 Viper - 2 Yankee Clipper - 1 Eagle - 2 Dark Knight - 2 Dark Knight's long queue, and yes, all switchbacks were full Grrrr, I'm evil alligator statue, gimmie some candy King Chaos is a great ride to capture rider's facial expressions Yankee Clipper Twisty Intamin goodness Nerd Shot V2 Nerd Shot Lunch Eagle's helix structure is amazing, especially from the Tri-State From here to the end, the ride had a bad case of the B&M rattle Some nice floater airtime here Bull's awesome first drop Viper Viper You may not be gold, but you were free which is all that matters to a poor college student like me

Feel free to say hi, being that I've never actually seen/met anyone from TPR at the park, other than an op at Superman once...
nay
I didn't know that this thread existed but I thought I would pop in and say hey since I'll be seeing some of you tomorrow. I don't know what I'm going to wear yet, but I know it won't be as hot as Matt's outfit. Cameron and Matt - Thanks again for an awesome day at IB!! VivaLaVibora
If you don't have to go now, I wouldn't go. This is the worst (most packed time) of the season. The other time is getting close to October 31st especially on Saturdays. At Fright Fest, it might really not be as packed as now, but because there are attractions that are down because of weather (No waterpark, basically no water rides), and last year they had no train, it's going to feel more crowded. KevinM
I went today, showed up RIGHT at the chain drop. It was really crowded, so on a whim I decided to spring for a Q-Bot (which I've never done). Unfortunately, they had unexplained "problems" with the system so they didn't let us in right away. I elected to wait in line for it to get fixed. At one point, I saw someone bring in a bundle of blue Q-Bots (the operator units). It took a whole hour, but they finally fixed it. After listening to some other people in line, I was swayed into buying the Gold Q-Bot (and we were issued $5 off coupons-- an apology for the wait?). What an amazing device! I don't think I would drop $50+ dollars for it every time, but it made for a hell of a day. Between 11-4, I got on 20 rides, only waiting in two full queues (and short ones-- King Chaos and Giant Drop). Anyone else have similar experiences with the Q-Bots not being available at open? cycamps
^I can't say I've ever had that problem. Today really was packed. This was actually the first time I willingly waited in the second que house for Bull, and I was a tad miserable (big crowds make me uncomfortable). Dark Knight had a 30 minute wait, and the person at the front told us it'd be 90 minutes, so that was a pleasant surprise. For the most part however, it was a day full of flats, which also had fairly long lines. I'm going Thursday as well, and I'm assuming it's gonna be like today, so I'll probably be making a trip to Gurnee Mills or Woodfield...
KevinM
Lines were so long today, even my Gold Q-Bot had 30 minute+ virtual waits for a few rides. Demon had the longest waits!

Ah! I HATE the second queue house on Bull. Only been in it one time, but it just sucks.
