SharkTums Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 I know back in 2000 they were advertising a lot in Gainesville, that's how I heard about the park and visited while I was in college. It was totally dead, and we were basically 'assigned' a rideop to follow us around and let us ride what we wanted to. I also remember no real 'pathways' on my first visit, but I agree, the park is slowly building up and getting bigger and better. Not impressed with Cheetah, but hopefully the park has learned from that mistake!
CoasterDude211 Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 I have been through Valdosta many times, but have yet to stop and actually visit this park. I always assumed it was a dump and was holding off until I could do it with a fun group of people. However, this park looks a lot nicer than I previously thought. They just need a better coaster selection. I might actually try to stop here on my next trip to Orlando and finally get these credits!
atem122 Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 I just realized that this park has longer operating hours than sfmm
Electerik Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I also have only been to this park once, shortly after Cheetah opened. My most vivid memory of it was being told by a ride op that I had to leave my glasses in the station because if they came off on the ride they could land on the track and derail the ride. Understand, I wasn't arguing with him. Those were his first words to me. Either the place has improved a bit, or Erik's photos are simply better than my own memories.
larrygator Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Valdosta has great onions! Oh wait that's Vidalia. Good photos Erik, I added quite a few to the park index.
Shellemonster Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I drive pass the billboards and exits for this park every time I come home from school, and it calls out to the coaster enthusiast in me. I think the only way I could visit this park is to sleep overnight in a rest area... oh the adventures of college.
Erik Johnson Posted June 1, 2009 Author Posted June 1, 2009 Valdosta has great onions! Oh wait that's Vidalia. Good photos Erik, I added quite a few to the park index. Yay! I have to admit, that was the real purpose of this trip report.
Hockeydad Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 WA is a really nice looking park, (with great theming to boot!). We were just through Valdosta on our way to WDW, and now I wish I would've planned better. Looks like there will be plenty of whoring for me, and lots of good credits for my five year old too. Well, next time we drive down for USO/IOA we'll try and hit it. Thanks for the great TR Erik!
borisdag Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Wow! Always wanted to see what the park was like. Thanks for the report.
WillianBrazil Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 I do not see this as the best SLC. It is well discussed, but the FireWhip have an enviable standard of thematization, maintenance, painting, thematization. No joke! Look at the photos
Erik Johnson Posted June 19, 2009 Author Posted June 19, 2009 The Zombieland movie trailer came out today in which Wild Adventure stands in for the amusement park. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExoIyEl5Vj8
Snicket Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I'm glad to finally see the trailer. It looks...interesting. A friend of mine's grandmother worked on the film. She was also made into a zombie for the film! It seems like the film is supposed to take place in California... It's funny. They've been filming all over Georgia for months. Wild Adventures looks nice in the film...then again...it's a pretty nice park anyway. I need to get an annual pass again (After all, it's my home park), but I never get around over there. I may go in a few weeks, so I'll get some pictures.
SharkTums Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Just bumping this as the Zombieland movie comes out Friday. I just saw a commercial for it, and I gotta say, something about fighting Zombies while on an S&S Double Shot...GENIUS!!!
Six Flags Enthuseast Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 ^That would be the coolest thing ever, I must agree! (Especially since I'm an S&S fan who wouldn't mind saving mankind)
downunder Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Zombieland is on the must see list, hopefully it will make it to Australia this decade. I really like good zombie movies, actually some of the bad ones are fun too. Interesting trivia: another zombie film, Land of the Dead, had a scene where zombies emerge out of a river - that was filmed in the wave pool at Canada's Wonderland.
Emiroo Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 I've been wondering which park they were at. Thanks! I am very excited to see it, but I don't think it will be able to dethrone Shaun of the Dead as my favorite Zombie film. We'll see soon enough though.
DBru Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 ^That would be the coolest thing ever, I must agree! ...until the cycle stops...
SharkTums Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 ^Isn't an Alabama Haunt just going to a local Wal Mart on a Saturday morning?
Erik Johnson Posted October 3, 2009 Author Posted October 3, 2009 Zombieland was alot of fun! For one distant shot of the park, since it is supposed to be in California, they used SFMM's skyline and placed a few extra rides from Wild Adventures in it. Bug Out, Double Shot, Aviator, and Rattler were all represented.
Calicoasters Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 ^I can't wait to see it! I'm thinking about going tomorrow afternoon
Looty Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I saw this movie last night and loved it! It's worth the price alone to see Woody Harrelson kill zombies on the Wild Mouse!
Six Flags Enthuseast Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 I'm hopefully going to see it either later on next week or maybe next weekend.
