I did a search to see if this was posted, but couldn't find anything on it.

Anyway, Cedar Point has this AWESOME mobile site for the iPhone and other smart phones. Basically, it tells you everything you want to know about the park and more.

This will be really useful during a day at the park since it lists show times, where certain food is located, weather, web cams, etc. It would be great if they could keep it updated with ride times.

Anyway, here is a pic of the main page from my iPhone

Any other parks have this sort of useful site?

Cool and easy to use!

That's pretty awesome! I would that "ride wait times" is the #1 most important thing that needs to be part of an app like this. For me it's really the only thing I would use it for so when I'm on the otherside of the park by Maverick I can see what the wait times for Raptor is like, etc....

^ Yup! Was it Hersheypark or somewhere on the east coast had a similar service? It certainly helped us plan our day. I'm honestly surprised more park don't do this as I can't imagine it'd be that hard to create/maintain...

You can also access this on any cell phone with internet access and m.cedarpoint.com. I have heard about the possibility of this system being used for wait times.

I was very impressed with the Disneyland Paris version. You would text a number and it would text you back the current wait times for all major attractions at the studios as well as show times. I'm pretty sure it was just under testing, but I REALLY hope to see that expanded at the US Disney Parks, as well as other parks around the country.

Looks like CP is off to a good start, but there are apps like this for many parks, until they become active and time sensitive I don't see them being very helpful for the enthusiasts, but a good help for the GP!

Imagine being able to make Priority Seating reservations from your phone, or getting a fastpass ticket that you just show the operator on your phone, there are so many things I hope to see developed in the near future for all of our smart phones at the parks!

During Halloween Horror nights at Universal Orlando they use a text mesasge system to update guests on wait times for the haunted houses. You would text in a message to a number and it would send wait time updates backto your phone like every 30 minutes or so. It worked pretty well and was really useful. They also had a choose your own adventure type thing to tell the backstory for the hosues that you could get via text message while waiting in line which was a very cool feature I thought, a lot of fun to play along while waiting in line

I wonder if a community wait time mobile website/iphone app would work out. For parks that don't have a similar service to that you could let users submit their experienced wait time and show other users the last reported time.

Would anybody be interested in this? I would be willing to do a project like this if I thought it would get used.

^Love the thought, but there's no way it could get updated enough to work. This would have to be an individual park sponsored initiative.

Your idea would work well for like a one day event or something, but not long term for just someone visiting the park on a day.

For example, when we're on TPR Trips we try to get everyone's mobile number, then when something breaks down, or a special opportunity presents itself, Robb texts it out to everyone!

Not to steal your thunder, but there are already some arenas and stadiums using this kind of technology, but it's actually more advanced. You can order baseball tickets over your phone and then scan the barcode directly from your phone into the entry kiosk for entry into the stadium, you never ever have a paper ticket. But also, a few places have it advanced even more where if you log in and a transmitter recognizes your phone and tickets while in the entry plaza, it can prompt you to upgrade to better seats right then. It's kind of scary/cool "big-brotherish."

What's the exact name of the app? I searched "Cedar Point" and "Cedar Fair", but got no results in the app store. I know I can get to it through the mobile site, but I'd still like to have the app.

They had a mobile website set up last year at m.cedarpoint.com for us non IPhone users.

I agree that the most useful thing would be wait times. Show times and food locations...meh, I can find that myself.

This would be so useful. The boards they have at Alton Towers are useful but too far out the way for quick reference.

My housemate at Uni did a similar project for his thesis creating a program for a bar which when you connected to the bars blue tooth it sent you the drink prices. very useful.

I don't think their is a app at this time. I just put m.cedarpoint.com and got the same screen as on the first post.

Yeah, but the topic is called Cedar Point App, so now I'm confused. Is there a site and an app, or just the site?

Just the site, apparently. I edited the original topic title and text to be a little more clear. It's not a downloadable app.
