^ You're right. Terminator is about as long from north to south as Psyclone, but it does look much wider.

One thing I think will be interesting is going down the first drop and diving into the structure under the lift. At least that's what it appears to do...

I'll look at it again tomorrow, but it definitely does look like it dives into the structure. In fact, it looks like it might even be a nice headchopper.

I was at the park today and I'd say that the lift is about three-quarters done so that leaves only the station and the flythrough to be built before the ride will begin testing.

As I said, I'm going back tomorrow and I'll try to bring my camera and snap some pictures.

Sincerely,

R.C.

They were working more on the hill. As well as I noticed that they were pouring some concrete and had laid down some rebar for the bridge/portal. Not much changed about the lift since saturday. But here are some more photos. Since who doesn't love seeing photos!

"Wow they ARE working quickly on the lift hill." (coasterking2981)

Just trying to "lift" our spirits!

This has gotta be the fastest construction for any ride, seems like just yesterday when the main page said "Terminator has gone vertical"

^Ryan120420 edited the video including just the POV parts, that's as good as your going to find

"Is there a layout released yet?" (Thelegendarymatthew)

I have yet to see an "official" layout, and that's something I've been looking for myself. However, if you look carefully at the most recent aerial photos taken from the Sky Tower, you can pretty much make it out.

At this point I can't tell if the trains go right onto the lift from the station or if they curve around to it, but once off the lift, the track curves to the left and dives under the lift structure itself. Next, it goes up into the so-called "deadman turn," taking the little hop, then turning left toward the turn leading into the first drop, right after the lift.

From there, it appears that it go around that turn, straighten out and do the station fly-through, then head out toward the north end of the ride and do the big right-hand circle, followed by the tight left-hand one onto the final brake.

Did that help visualize things a bit?

Ryan120420 posted several animated videos and you have pause them at the right moments to get a good look of the general layout.

It turns left into the lift hill. I wondered the same thing until I paused the video at 0:19 where you can see the track make a left turn from the station to the lift hill (look under the fly-through). 1:17 and 1:24 show the same thing.

"Is there a layout released yet? I've been looking for one for a while, and just a POV." (Thelegendarymatthew)

1:48-1:51 pretty much shows the entire layout in a few seconds, minus the hill that leads into the fly-through

As for an overview animated picture of the layout, like for Diamondback and Prowler, I dont think one is available either because Six Flags doesnt want to spend any more money than it has to, that they feel just an animated video should be enough, or they just simply dont want to spoil whatever surprises this ride might have any more than they have revealed already.

Or maybe all of the above, I dont know

ACE News will have something in a future issue, most likely a drawing from GCII. That should arrive about Spring 2010.

^ But thanks for the clarification about the approach to the lift. It certainly makes sense.

I'm sure the last thing SFMM management wants is another X / Deja Vu type fiasco where the ADVERTISED attraction doesnt open on time, or even worse, til the following year (cough cough X)! Thy're gonna do everything possible to get this thing open near Memorial day.

^Or even an old prototype, for that matter. I think comparing the construction of a new woodie to something like Superman: The Escape is an apples-and-oranges comparison.

The only thing "different" about Terminator in terms of wooden coasters is the fact that this one is the first woodie with an onboard sound system. My only concern is that over time, will the generally rougher nature of a wooden coaster cause problems in the system, for instance, components coming loose? No doubt GCII has already taken such things into consideration.

The show buildings are most like pre-fabbed in some way, which will shave some time off of their construction and placement in the ride's queue area.

^Those are my thoughts exactly. The only thing I could see affecting Terminator's opening would be problems with the sound system. Other than that, I can't see too many delays at all.

You know everything's going to work on media day for sure. So far, the system on X2 has worked well (in my observation), so I don't foresee trouble here except for what I mentioned above. As for the preshow, I'd guess that will be fine as well.

I am not sure if anyone has posted this yet but has anyone realized that every coaster that has been in the spot of Terminator has been taken down? It is kind of like a cursed area every ride that has been there has been brought down. It probably will not happen with Terminator because it is going to be a kick butt GCI.

^Shockwae was part of the ride trade program so that doesn't really count as defunting the ride, and Psyclone, well I know you're only 12, but apparently you haven't been on my Dinn woodies. None of them are worth keeping after opening year.
