For those who are unfamiliar with Bible Park heres their official link: http://www.bibleparkusa.com/ After being turned down by the previous county they came to our county. I live in Lebanon, TN and the land behind my job (Roxy Theater) is the land that developers wants. To my surprise, this past friday my theater held a town meeting to announce the approval of the Bible Park. It doesn't seem like it will make an efficient amount of money that they think it will. I've already noticed from talk around the town that most of our residents think this is going to be a theme park with a lot of biblically themed rides, when it's really going to be a more interactive learning experience tageted for church and field trips. I think the turn out will be similar to Hard Rock Park, meaning people are going to come with a different thought and be disappointed when its not what they thought. Not to mention there is another developer who is looking for land in my county, and a couple other surrounding counties, to build Ole South USA which sounds so much better and is reminiscent of Opryland USA. That is what they go to church for, and they go to amusement parks to have fun. However, I think they're going to have a hard time marketing a "bible" park without coming off as a Christian-only. If you lived in the Middle East as a christian, would you go to "Qur'an Park"? If you read the site, it says they are trying to recreate the Holy Land (Jerusalem) for those who probably will never visit the real one. BTW, the only good ride that could come fromt his park would be an awsome hell themed ride lol j/k but there wont be many thrills coming from this park. For example there are many Southern Baptist who don't approve of Mormons so chances are if such a park does get built, some group is bound to be excluded. I think if done well the same could be pulled off for a theme park and actually could be quite interesting. Just playing devil's advocate here. I never been there myself but its seems to be doing fairly alright. I remember it having trouble financially when it first opened but I haven't heard much about it since. For example, "The Ten Commandments" and "The Passion of Christ." Regardless of weather you think those were good, they are popular. A lot of churches are full of hypocrites and judgmental 'righteous people'. I don't like to take part in any churches like that... Bingo CTU Agent! Well said my friend. I can understand some of the feelings being mentioned here, but there are plenty of other Biblically based churches that don't practice a stereotypical type of Christianity. Honestly, I don't get the feeling this park will be anything like anyone's preconceived notions of church. Ok...enough devil's advocating from me. While the people were not rich, the churches had a ton of cash. They also tend to go to the same places every year or two around the country. For them, this theme park would be perfect. Look at Fred & Shirley Phelps..the media loves those people when they do their pickets and often calls Fred Phelps a "Baptist preacher". Or that woman from Virginia who won tickets to the Indy 500 from an auto parts stores ( Autozone ??? ) only to tear up her tickets and claim to the press that going to Indianapolis would go against her faith since "it is very well known that Indianapolis supports the gay BEAR lifestyle and everyone in that city will go to hell...." what some people don't do to get on TV !!!!! Ya'll know good and well if they came out with a coaster called the Holy Roller, you would beating down the gates to get in! "Move, I need this credit!" Doesn't sound exciting to me. They should make it a museum and call it a day. Disney it won't be. I did have a good idea for a Christian Horror Dark ride with goes into a Gay Bar playing La Bouche. Oh the Horror! Then it goes into a catholic church and you catch a glimpse of a priest snatching an altar boy into the confessional! Hey let's make it a Sally ride so we can have a shooting gallery where you point crosses at targets. "Oh no, save the guy trying to serve us the koolaid! Save the teens trying to have sex!"
