Six Flags New England (SFNE) Discussion Thread

p. 337: Quantum Accelerator family coaster announced for 2025!

Plus you have Santa's Village in upper NH that has done well despite arguably worse weather than Agawam. Santa's Village attracts an entirely different demographoc though but Six Flags could market that they have cell service and they'd have something new to offer.

I would love to see Holiday in the Park someday.

Actually, no, the demographics have a lot of overlap, most of the Santa's Village patrons are townies out on a weekend trip.

I was referring to how Santa's Village's crowds are made up of almost 100% families while Six Flags is split with families, teenagers, adults, etc. I can see how Santa's Village caters to out of towners especially since the area the park is located in has a low population density.

It would be interesting to see if Six Flags markets it as a family style attraction or the same thrill park. If they can operate every major coaster minus Goliath, I could see that as something the other Xmas attractions in the area can't.

Lol what? That's a ridiculous statement on multiple levels.

Only enthusiasts, a ludicrously small percentage of guests, would care enough about Goliath being closed for it to play into their decision to visit. And with the way people talk about the ride here, I don't think many enthusiasts would care either.

Kingda Ka and El Toro are arguably two of the most popular coasters on the planet and Great Advs HITP is doing just fine without them.

Bottom line is SFNE is likely the last of the SF parks (save for La Ronde) to get HITP so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

There's basically a zero percent chance that Superman, GCGEFAA (how did I do? lol) and Goliath would operate. The first 2 because of location, the last one because it's the only coaster I've ever seen a Six Flags park routinely close when it's below 40 degrees.

Every seasonal park that does a holiday event (except the HFE parks) closes some coasters and rides, usually major ones. It doesn't stop people from going. Focus on what you do have, not what you don't. For families, coasters aren't necessarily the main draw. For coaster fans, be happy to be riding anything in December in January in a cold climate regional park (especially because one of those things is almost guaranteed to be Wicked Cyclone).

With the recent announcement of the Energylandia mega/hyper, I propose a pipe dream if there ever was one:

Superman gets taken down within ten years to be replaced by a modern Intamin mega with a similar layout, but with newer thrills, track, trains, and elements!

What do you think that might look like if that was ever to happen? Also, would there even be a possibility of that happening?

I think I can see why Superman/Goliath would be closed, but GCG? It's a Wild Mouse coaster. Why does it have to be closed because of location? I mean, Mind Eraser/Batman would still be open according to your logic, and they're in the same general location and are taller than GCG.

That was just a question to start a discussion, didn't mean for it to be taken so pessimistically. Carry on

Relax. Its just ridiculous to even consider. Superman is just fine. Brand new paint job and all this year. Six Flags will milk their coasters until they are literally falling apart. Supes is considered one of the worlds best - why would they replace it in ten years?

Unless of course its falling apart.

GCG is literally right across from Superman. It's not near the entrance of Mind Eraser and Batman at all. The ride could run but why open it? It's sort of like Bizarro at Great Adventure. I'm sure it could run but it's not worth opening all of the paths necessary to open it and paying to decorate and staff all of those areas.

Look, so far every regional Holiday event closes off sections of the park. The obvious thing to close here would be the DC area. There are a ton of stairs and ramps to salt if it snows which is probably a bit of a liability anyway and it's super easy to close off by cutting just 2 paths. Look at what Six Flags America did. I guarantee you that if SFNE did a Holiday event, the DC area would be closed.

Obviously that can't happen, but if it did, I would be so pissed. New track and trains wouldn't be bad or anything, but I would be completely opposed to new elements. It's one of my favorite steel coasters the way it is now.

Okay, now I understand. At any rate, SFNE isn't even doing HITP. They're closed until April.

If you go back a few pages to the start of this conversation you would see that this is all within the context of the fact that it's a hypothetical (though not totally unreasonable) scenario. We're fully aware of the fact that there are no announced plans for a Holiday event.

If there is a HITP, I will literally beg my parents on my knees to take me there for a birthday present. I know it will be in the 30s (Hello Massachusetts in the winter), but hey, I can ride Wicked Cyclone!

Wow this thread came alive! I'd love to see some version of HITP for SFNE but totally agree the DC area would be out. Way to dangerous to worry about with ice. Even if they started with the smallest map you showed it would still give a great variety of rides along with the extra holiday stuff, fire pits, waffle cart etc.

It would draw people. A big concern that I see is just the parking lot. Good weather there's no problem but any snow / ice and it's definitely not a great setup. I doubt they would use the trams either. They've had some issues even on a summer day.

Hello there,

I was wondering if any other New Englanders have been by the park recently. I'm curious to see if pieces for the Joker have arrived, mostly to see if it will have the awesome alternating color combo like the one going up in Texas. I'm very excited to have a free fly coming to my home park!
