Six Flags New England (SFNE) Discussion Thread

p. 337: Quantum Accelerator family coaster announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

My only gripe with SFNE (I know Bill will sympathize with me) is the removal of the log flume.

Yeah, that's definitely up there as one of my biggest gripes. Splashwater Falls was an ugly and generally terrible attraction. Their log flume was a very weak log flume, but it was a much better ride than Splashwater Falls and I definitely miss it. That's right up there with the removal of the Skyway for absolutely no reason while leaving the ugly towers.

I'll go off on a bit of a tangent now but since this thread is pretty dead right now, I guess what's the harm? Since we're talking about gripes I think aside from the flume / skyway I think my biggest gripes with this park over the last decade or so have been aesthetic ones...

The biggest is the addition of Wiggles World / Kizopolis which replaced Tiny Timber Town, a shaded, aesthetically pleasing kids area

with an area featuring no trees that looks like someone pretty much just vomited bright colors everywhere

The second one that comes to mind is replacing Shipwreck Falls

... with this abomination

The ride was an upgrade before the new train, but I honestly still wish they hadn't added it because of how unbelievably ugly it is.

Overall though my list of gripes with this park has been steadily shrinking since they're finally filling in the empty flat ride pads so I guess I should give them credit where credit is due in that area.

Goliath was most definitely an upgrade to Shipwreck Falls opening year. The new train destroyed any chance of me liking that ride ever again. I'm also pissed they removed the skyride for a locker building and still have not removed the old towers.

^Oh yeah, ride-wise Goliath might still be better than Shipwreck Falls and it definitely was at opening. My issue though is that Shipwreck Falls looked so nice and fit in so well and Goliath looks so unbelievably terrible. I understand why they did it, but god damn that thing is hideous.

A lot of people I went to the park with missed Shipwreck Falls because of how well shaded the ride was and how the entrance was semi-hidden. I agree the ride looked great in its spot, but Goliath is definitely a more popular ride. While not aesthetically pleasing, I do have to give the ride credit that it looks imposing.

I remember that kids area being awesome when I was younger. It's a shame they replaced it with Asphalt Land.

I actually like Goliath's location. It is a very intimidating presence and being directly in the center of the midway gives you great vantage points both on and off the ride. The kiddie area revamp is absolutely hideous, though.

Overall, SFNE is actually pretty charming for a SF park. I really love the location, cobblestone walkways, and the entire stretch from the entrance gate to NESS. Hopefully they do more with the Joker and its surrounding area than GAdv did with ours. It will definitely be a welcomed change to that end of the park.

I like the Joker's location at SFOT much better than at SFNE. I also like the Gotham City section at SFOT much better as well. Once the planned expansion over the next several years is complete, the Gotham City section at SFOT will be the best at any SF park. That being said, I think Joker will fit in well here at SFNE next to Batman. And, well, at least we're getting new coasters.

SFNE doesn't really have a "Gotham City section", we just have a "Put Batman sh*t everywhere" policy. Poison Ivy and Gotham City Gauntlet are hanging out by Superman and Batman, Joker and Crime Wave are off doing their own thing near Mind Eraser and the Teacups and nowhere near the other Batman rides.

Well, they were planning on making a Gotham City section in 2008, when they moved Crime Wave. You can see they started with the design of Works and the restrooms there. With the Jokers Entrance being located near Batman, I could see that being a new Gotham Section. But yeah, they just throw Gotham stuff everywhere.

Wow...I forgot how pretty Shipwreck Falls was. I rode it at least a few times, but somehow I remembered it just being a plain structure without much in the line of trees or anything around it; I guess my mind has a hard time assuming much else from Six Flags. Seeing those pictures makes me feel a lot worse about it having been replaced.

Also The Dark Knights queue line is freakin disgusting. Its almost as bad as Nitro's.

It really isn't bad. What do you think is bad about it?

Perhaps the cracked tv monitors, not only that they are covered in bird sh*t more often than not. It isn't that hard to take a hose and spray it. It just looks run down in general.

I also loved until the Superman conversion that every ride in DC Superhero Land was themed to a supervillain instead of a hero.

What ride replaced the log flume?

I personally think Goliath looks nice, but it is sporting my two favorite colors, so I'm biased lol!

Oh my, that kiddie area transformation! Ew! Is it still Wiggles World, or has it been changed to something else?

I would love to see Mind Eraser removed (blown up, torched, crushed, however you prefer the terminology) and replaced with a nice airtime filled, compact GCI.

Splashwater Falls replaced the Log Flume which was obviously an unbelievable downgrade. I think Wiggles World is Kidzopolis now which is basically the same thing but more generic.
