Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

P. 177: 2025 park enhancements announced!

Recommended Posts

At the park today. Took some pics of ravine markers near prowler, Zulu. Doesn't seem much to it. Plumbing going down the hill. Immediate drop off the side of the hill where the markers are at. I don't expect them to fill a 30 foot ravine with dirt for a ride. I could be wrong though , or looking at wrong area.

Let's hope it means something. Hope for the best not the worst

Going to be doing a wof and sdc next week and wanted to ask some of you wof vets how long I should plan on being in the park on Tuesday. Also, if anyone wants to meet up and show a rookie the ins and outs of wof feel free to pm me.

Next Tuesday should be fairly empty. At this point in the year how long you spend at the park depends mostly on what you want to do. Definitely hit the four custom coasters: Patriot, Prowler, Mamba, Timber Wolf. If you want to go on Spinning Dragons, do that first, preferably at rope drop. The line grows throughout the day and never gets shorter. If you want to go on Boomerang, between Mamba and Prowler is as good a time as any, as you'll be walking right past it. The line for it is never very long, unless the park is insanely busy.

Notable flats are Cyclone Sam's, Steelhawk (a Windseeker), and Detonator (the first S&S space shot). They also have a lot of classic flats, including a Chance Sea Dragon, a scrambler, a Round Up, an Enterprise, a Flying Dutchman, a Rotor, and a Swing Around. If you're into water rides, Fury of the Nile is one of the best Intamin rapids rides around, and Viking Voyager is a small but fun log flume. The park's third water ride, Monsoon, won't be open on your visit (it opens for the year 5/27).

If you want to do everything I listed, and are there at opening, 3-4 hours should do it, plus any time for re-rides. Keep in mind, though, that Silver Dollar City closes at 6 PM that day, so it won't be possible to do both parks in one day (it's around 3.5 hours from Kansas City to Branson). Given that, it's definitely possible to stay all day at Worlds of Fun; you can leave at closing time (8 PM) and still get into Branson before midnight. If you're having fun, and it is a really great park, why leave early? All up to you.

Have fun!

Good quote from Matt Ouimet on dark rides (from CoasterRadio's latest podcast)

"We are looking at different sizes of attractions so that even a park that's smaller like Valleyfair can get it. So Worlds of Fun can get it. I think this week we solved it mechanically. Now we gotta solve creatively."

Take what you will from that.

Sounds to me like he's calling Valleyfair a small park.

Indeed! Maybe he's forgetting about the KI twitter post saying "People will come, people will most defiantly come". Kings Island's been hinting at stuff ever since the 2016 announcement for 2017. I doubt they would be doing this if they wasn't getting something for next year.

People will definitely come to see the nice new White Water Canyon facade.

Hey, I'm from Los Angeles and am hoping to visit WOF on Thursday, June 16. Would it be crowded enough to warrant getting a Fast Lane? And is the weekday saver admission price the best bargain to get a ticket? I was there about 2 years ago at this same time, and most things were a walk on at the time, but not sure if anything's changed since then.

And if there's any advice from the locals (I do know to his Spinning Dragons first because the line is so slow), that'd be appreciated. Thanks in advance! And we are NOT interested in the water park, just the theme park.

Since its Thursday, the crowds shouldn't be TOO bad. If you want to catch the Mamba, the lines might ether be in or just outside the station. You probably won't need a Fast Lane unless I'm wrong about the crowds. I'm going to let someone else answer the weekday saver price question. In other words, you should be able to catch most rides with a walk on.

Have fun

Yes, weekday saver is the best one-day ticket price available. I don't think you'll need Fast Lane. The only major addition since '14 is Steelhawk, but being from L.A., you've probably ridden it already.

So, assuming you want to ride the 4 unique coasters (I can't imagine anyone really wanting to ride Boomerang or Spinning Dragons more than once), then you'll be fine. You can get Fast Lane if you want to marathon Prowler, but you should be able to do it a few times regardless.

To be honest - by June 14th, most of the crowd (if there is one) will be over at Oceans of Fun most of the day
