GwaziBSRider1
^ I didn't think Steel Hawg was terribly uncomfortable, but the harnesses on it would dig into your shoulders in a few places. With the lapbars, this one should be fairly comfortable.
Rollercoaster Rider
I hated Steel Hawg though that could be because the operators pushed the OTSR's down on me after I was locked. I'm a tall dude and the ride hurt.
Mr Stratosphere
The park is now closed today through Thursday and reopening Friday. I will be sure to shoot an update first thing Friday morning! I saw this morning another car all wrapped up on the loading dock for the park.

Philrad71
There is a possibility that we might be going to Vegas in February so we will definitely have to make a trip to Circus Circus to ride this coaster. Wait...did I just type that we would definitely have to make a trip to Circus Circus? That just doesn't seem right for some reason!

bert425
^ Don't forget one of the best Steakhouses around is at Circus Circus! 100% agreed. but if you do eat there, go by front desk and ask for a property book first. (the concierge just might give you one if you inquire about it). it includes a coupon for a free bottle of wine at the steakhouse!
Philrad71
Great steak and free wine? We're there! Seriously though, thanks for the tips, guys...we'll certainly remember that if we go!
bert425
Great steak and free wine? We're there! Seriously though, thanks for the tips, guys...we'll certainly remember that if we go! the property book also includes buy one get one free rides in Adventure Dome you usually only get it if you stay on property, but I've found that asking at front desk, the worst thing they can say is "no" Trust me, it's NOT worth staying there just for the property book (we stayed there 4 days in March for NASCAR races). . .but it was a nice little bonus we discovered. Philrad71
^ I wonder if you stayed at another one of their properties like Monte Carlo or Mirage if you could get one of those books if you asked, or would it have to be specifically at Circus Circus? mmkaycomputer
Other details from today's announcement: —Final piece of track will be laid this week. —Ride will be 72 seconds. —They are still touting a greater-tan-straight-down first drop. (Someone here doubted it would be more than 90 degrees.) —Ride will have to undergo more than 2,000 safety test rides before anyone can ride. I don't work in the amusement business, so I don't know if that's more than normal. Sucks it won't be ready this month, but excited nonetheless! Mr Stratosphere
From http://www.vegas24seven.com/?p=28528 El Loco Gets Ready to Roll in Las Vegas January 2014 First Roller Coaster Car Rides into The Adventuredome at Circus Circus El Loco is coming! Las Vegas’ newest roller coaster, only the second of its kind in the U.S., will offer screams and thrills at The Adventuredome at Circus Circus Las Vegas beginning in late January 2014. As construction continues, the coaster cars that will soon speed around 1,300 feet of electric yellow track have started to arrive. The final piece of the track will be laid this week and one coaster car is now on display at the indoor theme park, providing a sneak peek to those anxiously awaiting their turn to experience the coaster’s negative G drops, gravity-defying turns and over-the-edge twists. The open-carriage cars, each accommodating only four passengers, are smaller than average, allowing the vehicle to make tighter, faster turns. The coaster’s unusual turns that tilt outward combined with the open cars create an exhilarating sensation. Accompanied by a customized soundtrack, El Loco’s unique elements will provide guests with a 72-second, adrenaline-pumping adventure, including: 90-foot ascent followed by a greater-than-straight-down diving drop producing a negative 1.5 “vertical G” 45-degree outwardly banked curve 180-degree turn that races over the edge into a barrel roll With its heart-racing drops, turns and twists, El Loco must undergo more than 2,000 safety test rides before any rider can board. “As with all our rides, safety is our number one concern,” said Tom Nolan, vice president of operations for The Adventuredome. “El Loco has a number of unique elements that make it a thrill-a-second ride, and this extensive testing process will ensure that every rider has a safe and fun experience.” Designed by S&S Worldwide, Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of vertical and family thrill rides, El Loco pushes the limits, allowing riders to enjoy movements never before experienced. Circus Circus Hotel, Casino and Theme Park – Las Vegas Circus Circus provides a fun-filled Las Vegas experience for all ages at an affordable price. The resort’s hallmark lies under their legendary Big Top, where celebrated circus acts perform as part of the world’s largest permanent circus. Circus Circus features The Adventuredome, America’s largest indoor theme park, a variety of restaurants including THE Steak House, rated the best steakhouse by Zagat and recognized a record 20 times in Las Vegas Review-Journal’s “Best of Las Vegas” awards and Vince Neil’s Tatuado Eat-Drink-Party!, where the rock ‘n’ roll vibe of the Sunset Strip comes to Las Vegas, a wedding chapel, shopping and an RV park. I learned that from my mother who used to do the same thing. She could always get the deals by just being very polite and cordial to people versus being whiny, impatient and impolite like some people seem to be these days. Thanks again for the tips! Ryan P.
Is this going to be a typical El Loco or is it going to be custom? It appears to be a typical one from what I have seen, but I'm not completely sure.
DougMJr
^It's custom but borrows a lot of elements from the traditional El Loco model. Look back in the thread to see photos.

It appears to be a typical one from what I have seen, but I'm not completely sure. It's custom, but it utilizes a lot of elements from the stock model. The end is probably the largest departure from the stock model (trick track, twist, dive into brakes on this vs the barrel roll and turn into the brakes on stock).
