Mr Stratosphere
Since the Adventuredome is closed 1/14 to 1/17 I will be sure to stop by this weekend to see if anything has changed. If so I will be sure to post photos!

DougMJr
I'm kinda hoping for a custom layout el loco that utilizes the mountain in some way. I do like the mountain theming and I think they can improve on this theming. Agreed, rim runner did make the park too humid. It was like a greenhouse in there last time I went. Mr Stratosphere
Today is the first day that the park opened after a 4 day shut down for park maintenance. I was first greeted with a sign stating that the Rim Runner was closed, but the park was a bit humid, so I knew the water was flowing for the ride. I first decided to take a spin on the Canyon Blaster, one of the trains was set off to rehab and all that was on the transfer table was the nose of one of the trains. I noticed that Canyon Blaster now sports a new logo, the old logo had the mountains and the new logo is of the rides corkscrew, foreshadowing the demise of the mountain range in the dome? Also some painting and TLC is being done to Canyon Blaster. For those of you who have ridden Canyon Blaster know that the last portion of the ride ends inside the mountain and is usually pitch black in there. Well today it was completely lit and I have never been on the ride while this was lit. I am quite surprised how tight the clearance is inside there! Upon riding a few times, you can tell there is some work going on inside the mountain near the Rim Runner's Support Structure. I had noticed that Rim Runner opened and had a group of riders cycle through, then the ride closed for technical difficulties. They began cycling empty boats for a bit and then the ride opened. I got permission to snap some photos and they are posted below. Hearing mumbles and grumbles on a timeline, but nothing is confirmed. But multiple employees are stating that the ride will be leaving very very soon. So I will keep up on that and I will be sure to snap photos and post updates about the Adventuredome! I am looking forward to following the upcoming changes here. Well enough words, enjoy the photos! Sorry if the quality is low on some of the photos. These are all iPhone 4s photos. Canyon Blaster's old logo, it is the largest one I could find. Canyon Blaster's new logo, notice the mountains are missing? An old worn brake for the Canyon Blaster A new shiny brake! New hotness! Upon entering the park, I was greeted with this sign. Borrowed Time? The ride had just opened and had quite a bit of people in line. The dome was very quiet today The splashdown Shortly after the ride opened, it closed for technical difficulties Empty empty empty Shortly after the ride reopened There were running both boats, Yellow and Red, the third boat was scrapped a couple of years ago I remember when both the front and back rows were open and staying dry was not an option Getting ready to depart on one of, if not my last ride on Rim Runner The ride starts with a nice peaceful ride through the dome As you meander through the dome, you see Chaos to your left, long ago, dinosaurs were here and spit water at riders. The final turn before the lift is the deepest part of the water as this is the main reservoir for the attraction To the left before the lift is a crane where they add or remove boats from the circuit, there is no normal transfer table on the ride The conveyor before attaching to the chain lift Long ago, the eyes used to blink and they would play sounds on the journey up Nearing the top of the lift The small dip after the lift, this area used to be filled with very dense fog The rock above used to rock back and forth, there used to be so much detail on this ride with an amazing theme. At the top you get very close to Canyon Blaster Nearing the one and only drop, the ride is very slow at this point creeping ever slowly towards the conveyor This view is very deceptive Heading down the drop, you get a nice bit of floater air here And I will finish off this update with my favorite photo of the night, thanks for reading! Jew
Nice update! I never knew the ride used to have so much more themeing.
screaminkid2005
I remember when I was 11 or 12 going to the adventure dome and seeing this ride and beggin my father to go on it. Saddly, the park was closing for the night and I didn't get to ride anything. It looks like I will never get my chance to ride it. Rip rim runner. DougMJr
Totally forgot about the front/back rows being closed. What's up with that? Anybody know the reason?
Mr Stratosphere
Totally forgot about the front/back rows being closed. What's up with that? Anybody know the reason? Guests used to complain that the ride was just too wet and some riders complained about knee injuries in the font row due to the impact at the bottom. The splashdown isn't too long and boats to this day still come around the final corner with some speed. For a while they had one boat called the "Soak Boat" but that didn't last too long. Xmeister
I really hope they don't take out the mountain. I think the Adventuredome would be pretty bland without it.

WFChris
My 2 cents on the mountain is that I hope they keep it. I'm a big fan of the nature theme (Rapids Camp Crossing, Grizzly River Run, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Camp Snoopy). 1) Canyon Blaster will be considerably less interesting without the rock work. 2) The whole park will look more like a ghetto carnival without the rock work. 3) The mountain is the only thing in this place that makes it 'feel' like a theme park. Without it I doubt I would have any interest in spending time here other than a credit run.

Mr Stratosphere
Adventuredome will be closed until Friday. I will visit the park Friday and snap a photo update of any work that occurs on the demolition of the Rim Runner in the upcoming week.
Kyle Coleman
At least it won't be so humid in there now and they should have plenty of room for the new coastere that has been strongly rumored.
Double0Kevin
Never did ride Rim Runner, though I don't like water rides so I'm not bummed about it. I would be kinda bummed if they took the mountain out, it makes the inside of the dome more interesting. But I can understand the desire to take it out and be able to utilize the small footprint of the park a bit more. Now if only we could fix up the crap hole the dome is attached to. Mr Stratosphere
From everyone I have talked to. The rocks are out, since most of the mountains surround Rim Runner. They will be removing most if not all the rock work.
XYZ
From everyone I have talked to. The rocks are out, since most of the mountains surround Rim Runner. They will be removing most if not all the rock work. That will really be too bad as those rocks gave the park so much atmosphere. I'm still hoping that only the rock feature on Rim Runner's lift will be removed...
Wes
Good luck to the company who has to tear it out. It's going to be one hell of a rim job.
