Shockwave Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Sorry to sound stupid, but what is extra ride time? Extra/Exclusive ride time is where you can hire out a ride exclusively for a while. General public aren't allowed on, just you and the people you specify.
rollerdude Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I never knew you could do that. Thanks for the info.
Hattuchili Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 OMG, I havn´t seen some pictures from this coaster since last year! It looks really cool and I am so sad, that I have no chance to ride it this year! --Sören
ncf Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 ^Didn't you see my link? Here are my night time photos from Monday (bottom of the page) SpeedMonster Night time pics
goodbizkit Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Testing has started. 20 new pictures here. http://www.themeparkdenmark.dk/gallery/Dshowthumb.php?mainroot=norway&middleroot=tusenfryd&lowroot=speedmonster%20april%206th%202006
ECZenith Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I was wondering what was going on with this coaster. The trains are SO short! That pretzel twist looks ridiculous. I can only hope an Intamin this twisted ends up in the US in the future. Thanks for the update!
socalMAN123 Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 ^ The trains probably aren't gonna be that short. Remember what they did on Superman at WBMV? They only tested part of the train, and later, started testing the full train. They probably just want to see how it works. Thanks for the update anyways! Very nice pictures, my compliments. --Brent
ECZenith Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 RCDB lists Speed Monster as having two - three car trains. When a coaster is using only a couple of cars it is during the pull-through: the testing phase before actual circuit testing to make sure the track is secure and clearances are met. Using only a couple of cars on a coaster that would actually run more once opened would make the coaster run the course at the wrong speed.
sfne2005 Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 awww, how cute - it has little dragster wheels...hope they stay bolted on!
haux Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 The brake fins don't run the entire length of the launch track. They look like they only go about three-fifths of the way. And the final brake run looks really short. There's a picture looking in the station, and it looks like the last turn practically goes into the station. I guess the brakes don't have to be so long because the trains are short.
ncf Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 The trains are not going to be longer, its says on Tusenfryd's site that it'll have 3 cars.
Swimace Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 The ride looks so weird with those trains, although it hardly makes it look any less amazing
CoasterCrazy Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 The testing pictures look awesome; I can't wait to ride it!!! I'm wondering if only having three cars on the trains will cause long lines! Does anyone know how many trains Speed Monster is going to have?
okinawaboy11 Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Wow, thats a first, testing a new coaster in the snow. Wouldn't they be afraid of it valleying in the pretzel loop? Oh well.
socalMAN123 Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 The trains are not going to be longer, its says on Tusenfryd's site that it'll have 3 cars. Dude, they better have like four or more trains running because if not, the line is gonna take forever. ---Brent
ncf Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Tusenfryd doesn't really have a problem with long lines... The longest I've ever waited was 40 minutes for Thundercoaster, and that was a weekend in July!
socalMAN123 Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 ^ Well, you never know how long a line will be, especially for this type of coaster. But, the capacity still might be really low on this ride. ---Brent
ECZenith Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Only two trains... I was thinking about capacity myself, but like others have said, it seems the park doesn't get very crowded, and like all other rocket coasters, it probably gets through its circuit pretty quickly.
viking86 Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Justin Gavarnovic (hope I spelled that correctly), chairman of the European Coaster Club, has ridden Speedmonster and he said this about the ride: "FANTASTIC. Very smooth. First element works perfectly. Loads of airtime and g's " Only 9 days until I get to ride it...
alpengeist04 Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Have fun. I'm sure it'll be a very good ride. I just hope the US parks will start adding these kind of coaster, instead of TTD and KK.
viking86 Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 You get 'these kind of coasters' overthere. Have you totally forgotten about Storm Runner?? And Rita and Stealth isnt any more original than TTD, KK and Xcellerator.
ncf Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Not that SpeedMonster looks any bad (which is certainly does not!!) but I really envy you for having TTD and KK over there! I'm going to ride SM tomorrow and I think it's going in my top 5-10
