Fallen Heretic
Yeah, I was one of those odd peole that sometimes liked to just cruise around, driving normaly, or just walking up a pavement. Not sure why I did it though. Then all it would take was for someone to insult my hair or something, Id give them abuse (this is in SA) and a fight would start, a cop would spot it, and it would all escalate from there. For some reason I liked just cruising around in driver. The night time screenshots do look quite cool. I imagine crusing quietly along a waterfront , with lights of the skyscrapers on the otherside of the river reflecting in the water, will be rather cool and tranquil. Until that git in the banshee cuts me up....I'll show him...and so on.
Zen Coaster
I didn't do that for the GTA3 Liberty City as the map was quite small as well as being urban but without the detail and varied activities of this version. Vice City I cruised a bit but mainly did missions. In San Andreas, I loved driving around for ages through the countryside - don't know why people consider those areas dead space. It was nice being able to go for a 'road trip'.
mike541x
One of my best friend's has PS3 and he is getting it when it comes out (Hopefully). One thing that makes this game really cool is Havok.
Gnome
almost all games have havok. Its nothing special at all. Don't you mean Euphoria?
Zen Coaster
Just one week to go now! Woo! Those of you looking for new stuff on the game should check out the gallery beginning at http://www.gtagaming.com/gtaiv/screenshots.php?page=1 as there are at least two shots per page that I haven't seen anywhere else... Manny In England
^^ I think he meant Euphoria, seeing as how GTA 4 doesn't use the havok engine it uses RAGE (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine).
Fallen Heretic
I dont think the GTA games have ever used Havok. Im sure it was Renderware they used for the PS2 games. I happily have a day off on Tuesday. Guess I know what I will be doing.
thecoasterkid
Scott, Mike, and Tony, PLEASE tell me you're getting this for PS3 so that we can have some crazy online fun. The multiplayer sounds great, and I'm thinking a knife fight on the "Screamer" would be amazing. I've also been known to just cruise around like a nice law abiding citizen, and I'm sure I'll do alot of that in IV because of how amazing detailed the whole game is. But then it's also just as much fun to work up a 6 star wanted level and let the cops have it. My at home productivity is going to tank once I get this game on Tuesday. I've got the Special Edition on order, so I'm hoping I can get it on release day!

But then it's also just as much fun to work up a 6 star wanted level and let the cops have it. I just don't have the patience to do that. I'll get maybe a block, before hitting the gas and veering into a crowded side walk. Or someone will cut me off, and I feel the need to hit them with an RPG. What I love about GTA is that it's a spectator game. It's so much fun to just sit around with buddies and try to out do each other. It's all about style points. Map locations Enter "www.whattheydonotwantyoutoknow.com" into the in-game computers to view maps that reveal all weapon, health, armor, vehicle, pigeon, ramp/stunt, and entertainment locations. Easy money Go to an ATM, then cause a traffic jam to the area. Wait for someone to take money from the ATM, then kill him or her. Make sure to block any nearby roads so the ambulance cannot get to the murdered victim. Take the money they dropped on the ground. Then, run a short distance away, and go back. The money should have respawned on the ground. You can repeat this as many times as desired. You can also kill more people taking their money from the ATM to increase the amount of money that respawns. -From: Khairol161 Repairing engine If the vehicle you are driving breaks down and the engine will not start, call 911, and your engine should start again. Fast travel To avoid wasting time driving all the way across the city, call a taxi. They will take you to your destination for your mission, stores, safehouses, or even a waypoint marker. You can skip through the taxi ride, allowing you to travel across the entire city in about ten seconds. This can also be done during missions. Easy headshots It is sometimes difficult to get headshots, which do count. With some practice, doing the following is an easy way to get headshots. Press [Auto-Aim], then use the Right Analog-stick to move the auto-aim target around your victim's body. Barely move the Right Analog-stick as you are shooting. This puts bullets in the chest and head, and results in an easy instant kill. Getting away from police When running away from the cops, you will have a circular area in which they look for you. However, if you get out and another cop sees you, it changes. To use this to your advantage, barely get out of that circle, which you will see on your radar. Then, just sit there for about five seconds instead of flooring past it. Regaining health during missions You can leave the mission area and go to a Cluckin' Bell, hotdog stand, etc. and eat food to replenish your health if you are low and cannot find a health pack. This is especially useful on missions where there are no health packs in sight. Note: You can also take a taxi to those locations during missions. Avoiding toll booths Drive through any toll booth with any emergency vehicle with the sirens on. The booth attendant will open the gate, and you will save $5. $100 for all ringtones and themes After getting the phone from Playboy X, go to the nearest Internet cafe. Buy all of the ringtones and themes from the ringtones site. Log out of the computer, and you will notice that you only paid $100 for all ringtones and themes. FeelTheFORCE
Wow there are massive freezing and framerate issues reported for both consoles. Sounds like they haven't tested the game thoroughly on every version of both consoles. I guess that's what you get when you release so many SKUs, it's tough to keep track of them all and develop perfectly for them all.
ChrisCrowder
Wow, I don't know if anybody else has seen this, but GTA4 has got MASSIVE scores on Metacritic. 99 out of 100 for XBOX360 and 100 out of 100 for PS3. Now this beats Half life 2 which had 96 out of 100. I'm looking forward to this game coming out on PC Xbox360: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/grandtheftauto4 PS3: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/grandtheftauto4
onewheeled999
^ I can't believe it. This game got 10/10 at Gamespot.com, a feat that has only been done by The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

J-ELLO
Just to let you guys in on a secret I found an "Easter Egg' for amusement park lovers. Not only Coney Island, but if you go all the way to the top northwest corner of Alderney (Jersey) you will find the Asbury Park Casino all abandoned and falling apart, and you can even go inside. To do this before playing it through the game, go to multiplayer "free roam" and take a helicopter there ( fastest way) and enjoy.

I played it all evening without a single freeze. They are far from being isolated. Go the Official Playstation forums, Official Xbox 360 forums, Gamespot forums, and NeoGAF forums and you'll see what I am talking about. The problems are more prevalent in the Playstation 3 version of the game, but problems are still occurring on Xbox 360. From what I understand (on the PS3 version), it has something to do with the install required before you can play. The console is having trouble retrieving information and rendering from the previously installed data. This reminds me of the Assassin's Creed freezing problems when it was released...very similar. A simple patch fixed them, though. Link to an article on Gamespot. Link to an article on Kotaku. Link to article on CNET. Link to article on Joystiq. Link to article on Yahoo. Fallen Heretic
Im on PS3 with this, and I havent had any freezing issues yet. (Ive got the 40GB model). I havent played that much of it, but I do like how the Euphoria engine works. The first time I shunted a cab, the driver got out, and attempted to open my door just as I hit the gas. The little git held on with one hand, body bouncing along the ground, until I sideswiped a cab and knocked him off. Hilarious. And my first headshot, the guy was on a balcony type thing, and had a spectacular dead mans fall down two stories, bouncing off things on the way. Much better that the ragdoll system, I reckon. Has anyone noticed the nice splatter of blood that apprears on the hood when you knock into someone and their head hits it?
