  1. On May 2nd the Carousel that used to operate at Nunley's, in Baldwin, Long Island, NY resumed operation for the first time in 14 years after the park closed in 1995. The carousel is a 1912 Stein & Goldstein of Brooklyn NY originally operated at Golden City park in Canarsie, Brooklyn, NY before being brought out to Long Island in 1939 when Golden City closed to make room for the Belt Parkway. Nunleys was a giant enclosed building with the carousel inside and lot of collectible arcade games, and a restaurant. Outside was a small ferris wheel, Schiff Kidde Roller Coaster, auto cars ride, handcrank railway, boat ride, and minigolf. For the last 3 years the ride under went restoration and is now in its new home on Museum Row, in Westbury, Long Island, NY. Price is $2.00 a ride and the ride operates with the original ring machine in which the brass ring gets a free ride. Ultra Rare Goostave Denzel Lion Lead Horse The new $1,000,000 pavilion
  2. Actually since I am only tall not fat I have never had a problem with OTSR they close all most all the way down on me and I am still comfortable. Where if I was heavier i would probably be right at the point of buckling the belt.
  3. I don't understand why everyone feels they are going to have problems with this ride i'm 6'5" 280lbs with a 38" waist and I never had a problem with el toro, plus I have never been stapled either. I feel that the restraints should be tight on a ride like this though, it is very wild. Weight aside, the only way not to fit is not to be in proportion, such as huge thighs. Don't get me wrong when people hear i'm 280lbs they think i'm huge when i'm just the opposite i'm skinny with muscle. I could easily see someone weigh 220lbs not fitting because of size, each body holds weight differently.
  4. Just to let you guys in on a secret I found an "Easter Egg' for amusement park lovers. Not only Coney Island, but if you go all the way to the top northwest corner of Alderney (Jersey) you will find the Asbury Park Casino all abandoned and falling apart, and you can even go inside. To do this before playing it through the game, go to multiplayer "free roam" and take a helicopter there ( fastest way) and enjoy.
  5. It hurt me to see this. The Jackrabbit was my first roller coaster credit back in 1989, I was 2.
  6. Actually from what I have heard from my dad, and older people is the the Parachute Jump at Coney Island was the scariest ride ever. He said it was a real parachute and when the chute hit the top and opened it took about 30 feet to catch the wind and people would pee themselves all the time. Plus the fact that there was very minimal restraints, just a strap across your legs. Although I believe that Pair-O-Chutes at Riverview may hay given the same feeling since it was the only other "real" parachute ride *cough* intamin *cough*
  7. When I was 3 in 1990 I rode the Jack Rabbit at Clementon Lake, my parents said when the ride came back to the station I started to cry because the operator told me I have to get off before I can ride again.
  8. Call me crazy but I would just reopen people mover and sit back and enjoy the s***load of money I would be making.
  9. I know Knotts Xcelerator has a small seat, but im 6'5" and 280. The difference is your body dimensions because im thin being of my height and had no problem getting on the ride. One intamin that did dissapoint was V2 a SFDK because I was turned away for being to tall, so I will never ride an impulse being that would have been my first.
  10. Hurricane was my 200th coaster And AdvLands Ex-TopScan was AMAZING! BEST Topscan EVER! Thats because we ran it manually not preset so the rides were wicked, whats sad is that it really made our park unique because Topscans are scarce and the only other one that ran manually was the one in the fair circuit
  11. Adventureland in Farmingdale on Long Island S.D.C Hurricane thats smooth and pretty intense We used to have a Mondial Topscan but becuase of an accident last year we had to let it go But we did get a Huss Frisbee this year, and it runs pretty intense
  12. It has to go to Nitro because it gives an equal feeling in every row and you get more of the "ITS GOING TO CURVE UNDER" feeling then that of on a dive machine such as SheiKra. Besides im am by far not the only one to say this other coaster designs commend B&M for what might be the perfect first drop.
  13. I shall be working at Adventureland in Farmingdale, NY Sat (rainout?) Sun and pull a nice 14 hour day on Mon.
  14. ok 1. I did go in there but it was not the cheapest it was rather expensive 2. I have enough at home to probably satisify a small African Country
  15. My vaction was originally planned to be a trip to South of the Border, Myrtle Beach ( Pavilion and other parks), and Disney while in Florida. We drive down, and was planning to leave Tuesday July, 18th but me being in an extremely serious car accident the Sunday before. We had to hold off leaving 2 weeks while I could barely move. When we did leave the only thing we stopped at was South of the Border on the way down. After awhile I began to feel better and on Sun. 8/13 I took a ride to Orlando from where we were staying at family in Bradenton, with my cousin to IOA which is by far my favorite park of all, I cant give it less than a 10/10 becuase everything was perfect except for the closing from Lighting from time to time but even then employees were really friendly and seemed to enjoy the rides they were working on, even hade conversations with the customers while the rides were down, being that I was not with my family I did not bring the camera, but im sure most people know what IOA looks like. So we went to some other attractions in the area, and one in Bradenton and that wraps up the TR, if you got this far you deserve a treat so go get yourself one. They lied it wasnt the cheapest prices so I went to the arcade shop Arcade machine store or Porno shop, choices, choices for reasons I dont know the bumper boats seemed to be closed the water helps to throw the spitball the lady said that they would reopen tommorow nice fence to protect the ball from flying away You first need to use the bat to beat away the trees The Green Nile is water supposed to be green? the mini golf has seen better days they even left the gate open so you can wander onto the track a little plain though the go-karts look harmless the outside is a different story even the food place looks good....but while the arcade looks nice the entrance can be decieving On to Pirates Cove in Bradenton, FL Track over the building, slingshot and fruity Palm Trees Wooden Go-kart tracks More of the place for all you mechanical junkies notice the go-kart track below the platform This is an awsome ride for $7 With nighttime mode on Two. (the reason we came) StarFlyer One. The Worlds Largest Slingshot S&S tower which doesnt make to much money because of two reasons Nice entrance to the go-karts All the Towers and light really gave the place good personality On to Magical Midway Dishes from park restaurants Statues from gift shops Arcade games Stuff like props and hotel room fixtures Planet Hollywood sign, and a tank Front to Buzz Lightyear vehicle Snow White Cars Space Mountian Car IDK but it looks cool 68' Charger used in Blade THE front monorail car Sign for the front monorail car On to the Mousesurplus.com Warehouse, first off Walt Disney Wax Figure Moser corner 300' Skycoaster their slingshot The new ride "Drop Tower" an old town setting If you had not had fun like this before Email DAN The bull was put to sleep As you can see not much else The "big" attraction there is the Windstorm. Of course this place is known for the ferris wheel through the sign. First Stop was Old Town
  16. This was actually Disneys second try at getting into the market up North. What there were foaming at the mouth for originally was Coney Island, they were planning to knock down everything except the Cyclone (which would have been modified to current saftey and mechanical systems), the Wonder Wheel ( modified also), and the Parachute ( which would have been reopened). The rest would be turned into one of the multi-billion dollar theme parks, with attractions concerning the evolution of entertainment and ages like the roaring 20s and Teens when amusements took a leap. Being that they did not get there way CI is the same as always, but if you do notice that Disney built the Boardwalk resort section at WDW after they realized that the real project in CI was not going to work. They even have models of rides of CIs past in the lobby of one of the hotels in the section. My father is a historian of Coney Island and in my home is the worlds largest and finest museum of memorabila from the very beginning of CI to the present and Disney actually called my home offering us a decently large sum of money for the collection so they can place it in the ( then planning)boardwalk section but we kept it becuase it took my father 41 years of collecting to get where we are.
  17. Awsome TR Derek. Its nice to see the Fantasty Island is trying to remember the park that wasnt too far, the entrance looks exactly like what the Crystal Beach Comets used to. I never rode it but I was at Crystal Beach when I was 2 and kinda fell a lil short for the ride. Even the name was probably inspired by the old coaster. What is interesting is that the CB Comet was originally sold and sat at Fantasy Island, but its ressurection there never occured, so I guess they tried to make up for it with their own version. Crystal Beach Comet Silver Comet
  18. Im going with a 800' intamin wooden GamaCoaster with a 250 mph rocket launch............................AND IS REALIABLE. As for the water park, a slide where you go down an elephants trunk.
  19. Yeah but how many TR of lets say SFMM can you find so it really doesnt matter because a trip is special to each and every person
  20. you know your addicted when you call yourself a credit whore for riding the dragon wagon.
  21. Every Year being that most of my famliy is located in Florida, it is a tradition that my family drives down from Huntington, NY to Sarasota, Fl along I-95. Any person fortune enough to drive instead of fly of course knows of SotB. Warning: This report contains Sarcaism. If Sarcasim is not a second language to you, you may end up staring at your computer screen dumbfounded. As we are leaving the sun begins to set over SotB creating a glow off the tacky neon colors! Before leaving I decided to grab a bottle of water for the road being that the display was so tempting. After the amazing gift shop it was time to get ready to leave so I visited the great bathrooms in which Pedro greeted me sporting his best of orange wears. I was trying to create a pinata game with the two other people in the store, but sadly the employee said that there was no candy inside to save us the trouble. SotB is probably the only place that has gift shops that carry EVERYTHING else except things that would interest you.142 Before going back down the elevator I attempted to snap a pic of the water tower which read S.O.B. This image gives a great view on the Convention Center and Pedroland. ( Notice the lines are insane) Atop the sombrero tower the views are amazing, notice the ancient alien markings in the concrete roads. Inside the building at the base of the tower your eye burning elevator of doom awaits you. Being that I was running out of places to explore for a $1 I decided to take a ride up the tower. Another gift shop with a different facade, same stuff inside as the other gift shops. Im pretty sure that this ape will forever scar my dreams because I didnt stop in and buy a shirt. If you were to stay at SotB these would be your luxurious rooms. The front of the motel looks somewhat inviting but........ The Sombrero ride seemed to be pretty safe to ride on, except it happened to be closed "that day" Pedroland has some of the most beautiful sprawling asphalt gardens ever. Themeing at Pedroland was important so they decided to do it right the first time. Finally Pedroland (minus the SBNO roller coaster which is "under rehab" and will reopen.........in the future.), I bet you all envy me right now huh. SotB is saying that they too will soon have an El Toro of there own, just when they can raise enough of money to pay intamin. The Convention Center is home to the East Atlantic Porno Show.........Whenever its created. WTF!?! is a concrete bazaar. Pedro seems to enjoy our company. The Peddler Steakhouse offers fine dining in excellent atmosphere. (All of there food is glazed with pure surgar icing for Dan) Being that the place was totally busy we set out to find some fine cuisne. Look at the extreme traffic jam to get in. Any place that greets me with a politically incorrect sterotype is alright in my book. Here we are at the "World Famous" South of the Border
  22. " well umm.. enjoy your ride on Son of Beast?" *chuckling at riders*
