Abandoned Amusement Parks Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

When I attempted to go to page 5 of this tread, the following warning popped up:

I got that too- I reported it to Robb who said he performed a whole scan and check and found nothing.

We think we tracked it down to someone's signature. Let me know if you're still getting that warning. I deleted the sig, so it should be ok now.

theres always this giant disney blunder

http://www.i-mockery.com/minimocks/disney-blunder/

I have saw this site before, and it's sooooo inaccurate that it isn't funny. Disney did not build this facility- it was built by Premier Cruise Lines while they were the "Official Cruise Line of Walt Disney World" before DCL was even a thought to corporate management. Just because Premier was the official line of WDW doesn't mean Disney had anything to do with their private island.

Worlds of Fun is full of history.

The former entrance to the Zambezi Zinger was used for the entrance to Boomerang up until a couple years ago, when it was converted into a haunted house.

The former station for the Orient Express now houses a haunted house and Club Blood. The coaster's tunnel is also used for the attraction.

Yellow/Brown building, upper left.

Timberwolf occupies the old station for Screamroller/Extremeroller (Arrow Corkscrew).

As an added bonus, some of the footers for the corkscrew supports can still be found in this pond.

Here is one of the old sky heis (chair lift) stations in a new life.

My dad said it use to be some kind of small park. They recently made the two castles into a billboard after years of it being just an entrance. I looked it up, and found out it use to have like a trail with castles and things for kids in the 60's, but I'm not sure anything else.

On a random forum, someone asked if it use to have a mouse coaster.

But I would like to find out if it is true and to see what it use to look like.

Upon looking at an old park map on display at Six Flags Over Texas, I did some searching and discovered that the Texas Giant on ride photo booth sits precisely where the sky ride station used to be. I don't know if it's still the same building or not. Can anyone confirm this?

I live near Chippewa Lake & last summer I had the chance to explore the grounds. Some friends somehow got in contact with the owner of the property and we were given his permission to spend the entire day on the land, checking out all of the structures. It was an amazing experience & it was definitely worth the small price we were charged. I took a ton of photos, but I'll just post some of my favorites here. I hope you enjoy!

These photos are probably ten years old now (taken in 2000), but they were taken two years after Parc de Montjuic in Barcelona closed. According to RCDB, there were four coasters here, including a twin shuttle (moved to Zaragoza and now operates as Ramses), a Boomerang (which now rusts away at SFNO), a Galaxi (which still operates in Spain), and a small kiddie coaster. None of them were remaining during this visit. I never got to walk around in the remains of the park, but I took these from the skyride that connected the war museum at the top of the hill to a funicular railway that was in turn connected to the Metro.

Remains of a fountain and a open building. I'm guessing it was for food service.

I just saw this and thought some of you folks might find some interest in this weird ass Christian park I've never heard of that is (or was) apparently just down the road from Carowinds. For all I know it was talked about in this thread, but there's lots of fresh eyes on this board that may not have seen anything here. Instead of starting a new thread, I'm bumping one that hasn't been posted in in six years. Thanks search button!

Jim Bakker's Christian amusement park is now a post-apocalyptic ghost town

http://io9.gizmodo.com/5882369/jim-bakkers-christian-amusement-park-is-now-a-post-apocalyptic-ghost-town

In 1986, Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker's Heritage USA was the third most-visited amusement park in the US, behind only Disney World and Disneyland. Now the park that once entertained millions of guests is falling to pieces, and looks more like the scene from a post-apocalyptic movie than a place for family fun.

I'm 99% sure it's the same building based on the sources I've been able to find. Sadly no pictures though...

I don't know anything about the park but that's pretty cool. It's sad that they replaced the old Von Roll. Would you happen to know if it was scrapped or relocated? I can't find any useful info on it anywhere.

Here are some recent photos (taken within the past year or so) of abandoned amusement parks in Canada which still stand (in some form) to this day.

I love seeing photos of abandoned amusement parks! I would love to visit one someday. Awesome photos of Chippewa, even though they're 6 years old. That's one of the places I've always wanted to see. Does anyone know what is still standing?

I never knew about Heritage USA, that was really interesting.
