TheStig Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Hey everybody! This past weekend I was fortunate enough to be able to make it out to CA! I'll let the pictures do the talking, but I had a blast and I HIGHLY reccommend that anyone who hasn't done a WCB to do it next year! The Magic Mountain "team" was fantastic and completely blew me away AGAIN! Anyways, on to the pictures! ...all to make this kid happy! Part two coming soon. ...lots of vomiting on cars... ...lots of street crossing... Just like Lord of the Rings, we did a lot of walking... THE QUEST FOR THE EPIC PINK BAG! We went to go get coffee again or something, I dont remember! We also went on a quest... Sooooooo much food! Anyone want to hazard a guess as to what this is? Give you a hint, its effing amazing! I don't know why they call this garlic bread. Orgasm bread is more like it. Here we are, nasty Pepsi and all! And now Mike's face. We headed over to Popalinos (spelling?) with Elissa and her Parents. Careful, Jahan... My god this place is sooooooo pretty. Posting these photos is making me sad that I live in FL! The next day Mike and I went on another adventure to get coffee! Heading out to LA! It was stormy and stuff, which didn't help my 40 minute layover at all (it turned into 6 minutes) but the sky was pretty! I started my journey at the Sarasota-Bradenton airport where the "young folks" come out to people-watch for fun.
TheStig Posted March 11, 2008 Author Posted March 11, 2008 Today a bunch of us went to Disneyland for Kristen's birthday. It was a bit crowded, but I had an awesome time (although I was pooped by 5pm!) West Coast Bash coming soon! The floating head says "You too can own a box of sparkplug wires, plastic discs and a few lightbulbs for $279.99!" I was getting pretty tired, so Joe, Ryan and I all left for the day. Overall I had a great time! Granted I like the World a lot better, but still I had a ton of fun! No love for daddy Everest today... This ride is froggalicous. And now a flattering photo of Janice. .....man date.... Next up was the most hagred combination thing in all of DCA. Maliboomer was pretty bad too. FLIGHT COMMANDER!!!!!!! Next up was "Goldent Zephyer" or something. These car-whatevers are awesome! ROCK. ROBOT ROCK. robotrockinscreamin.wmv There was no music on our train, so here is 60 seconds of the ride synched to "Robot Rock". Time for Screamin'! I have to say, this is probably my favorite ride on property. "Theampakrreview.com" Time to head over to DCA for a few hours. And now a horses ass. I loooooove turning right! Behold. Tomorrow. Splash was next....thats it. We had lunch here for KT's B-Day! It was amazing, but they served me the beef instead of the Prime Rib which sucked. Regardless, it was the best meal I've had in a LONG time! A wild Snorlax has appeared. "They made a movie about this ride. Nobody really saw it though." - Wes Mmmmm Dream Suite... Sorry Jeff, I don't see it! "But...but...it was layed brick by brick! And its the only one Walt walked under!" Wow, its certainly been a looooong year! We were stuck in LA traffic for about 20 minutes, but seeing this made it all worth it!
pixelated Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Very cool update! Poor Disneyland castle... it tries so hard... (And I guess happy birthday KidTums!)
Wes Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 "Excuse me waiter, I believe I ordered the prime rib." And thank you for Robot Rockin' Screamin'. BA BA BA DOO DOO
TheStig Posted March 11, 2008 Author Posted March 11, 2008 "...and where is my sour-kraut?" Robot Rock makes everything better.
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 "The sail is made of sugar...but it tastes like plastic" Great TR Colin! That lunch had to have been the best lunch I have ever had!
SharkTums Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 ^^Sugar Sail that tastes like plastic in a bread bowl!!!! Miss you already Colin! You've always got a place out here!
Wes Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I refuse the believe that was sugar or had any sugar in it.
TheStig Posted March 12, 2008 Author Posted March 12, 2008 ^I agree, it was harder than the wood that Chris tried to also eat! ^^I miss you too! You need to let me know if you need help with anything over the summer, I'd be there in a heartbeat! Now I had 90% of the WCB photos up, but TPR froze so I have to start all over again. UGH!
ebl Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 ^ Nice seeing you at SFMM, Colin. Maybe next time I'll actually have a conversation with you! Eric
TheStig Posted March 12, 2008 Author Posted March 12, 2008 Okay, lets try uploading these again! West Coast Bash!!! The day started early for me, like REALLY early! I was at the park to help set up and check people in at about 6:45am! If your last name was M-Z then I probably was the one who handed you your packet! I just want to say THANK YOU to both TPR and SFMM for everything that day! It was fantastic, and I really really had a good time! On to the pictures! I destroyed Joe in Trivia (twice) and thats pretty much it! Thanks for reading everyone! The event was AMAZING AND A HALF! I was overly impressed!!! Sadly, I had to return home the next day... Ill leave you with this last shot of a Viper anti-rollback (I think). To see the rest check out the museum when it opens! How did it know that?!? This whole Sky Tower museum was REALLY well done, and it wasn't even finished yet! I was extremely impressed with how much stuff was up there! Its the truth. You can almost make out Viper and X2 in this picture. Still, I love this park at night! THIS IS NOT GASM!!!! Who wants to tell me why? Actually, I didn't even know until Dave and Cameron pointed it out to me. I was able to live my dream and press the E-Stop button. Nobody left Sky Tower for the rest of the night, oops! More museum stuff. It was really cool to see the park all light up a night. It also puts it into perspective of how MASSIVE Magic Mountain really is! And Freefall! There were a few old ride sign's like this one from Flashback. This Ninja model was awesome! After the tours were over it was time to head in to the Magic Moments Theater for the presentations by Jay, Neil and Tim. No photos!!! Afterwords, Sky Tower opened! While not very forceful, I still really enjoy this hill. I still dont even come close to Hanno! Like previously stated, Yellow group rules. Lots of dirt and LOTS of Goliath! Next up was Thomas Town! Jahan gave us a little talk before we entered the construction site. I was too lazy to wait for a train, but I liked this shot a lot. Only from the X2 transfer! You will never see this ever again! Anyways, X2 looks a ton better, but honestly it would have been awesome if it was left half painted like it was 6 weeks ago! Rollin' on my 15's like WHUT?! This AWESOME Toyota Corolla! We were lead over to the transfer area to take pictures while X2 tested. I have to admit, I was more interested in something else at the time... My god these things are awesome! Old and New. These trains are going to be saved just in case X2 fails. If that is the case, a washer and dryer are going to be bolted to where the seats currently are. The track will be painted blue and orange and sponsored by Tide. So far, the name "X3 = Spin Cycle" has been rumored. Just kidding. Tim explained to us a lot about X2. It should be testing with riders by the end of the week, but he did not gaurantee it to be any smoother. However, he did say it would be more reliable, which is a GREAT thing in this case. Some people got shots from the other side of X2 (who cares), but all of us got shots from the INSIDE of X2! Oh baby, we certainly have come along in the last 6 weeks! But first, a message sponsored by Puma. X2 should so be sponsored by Puma, it could be called "X2=Puma Coaster". That is one example why I don't have valued ideas. And now what all of you have been waiting for.... X1! Here is what was on display in the Sky Tower elevator. If you think thats cool, you should all see what is upstairs! Oh, and I now eat off of a set of those blue plates, they are awesome. Tatsu was Tatsu-ing while we were wandering around Sky Tower. Becuase it was closed, out tour had a little break and I was able to hop on Ninja in that time. Due to high winds, we would have to wait until later before we were allowed up into the Sky Tower Museum. Still, there was a little sample of what was up there in the elevator for us to look at. Next up was Sky Tower! Who's that sexy man holding that sexy sign? DJV was down for major rehab, and Jay even said they tried really hard to get it open for us at WCB! Its the thought that counts! I took this dorky shot for Cameron, but I cought Dan vogue-ing or something so it turned out okay! ...and a car that is actually faster than a DeLorean even though it doesn't have an engine (well, to be fair, Ryan's doesn't either!) ...a cover for the front coach of Colossus... ...a car from Astroworld's XLR-8... ...the front coach cover of Flashback... The things on this part of the tour included a Granny Gran Prix car... I honestly do not think I missed anything by not riding freefall! Hey Joey. Aww poor Shockwave! If there is one defunct ride that I really wish I had ridden, Shockwave HAS to be it. Soooooooo many boats! Jahan gave a great presentation for us. It was really informative and everyone enjoyed it! Our first stop was the old Psycole ride area where we would find a bunch of old ride vehicles from all over the SF chain. DJV was not operating today, but it already trumps the other two for being the last one standing! After lunch our tours started. Yellow group was obviously the best out of all of them, but everyone had a good time from what I heard. And mad props to whoever made those signs =] SFMM was so awesome today that they welcomed us to lunch TWICE! After ERT we headed over to pay respect to Jahan's baby of the past. Ryan, Wes, Jahan and I were in charge of holding down the Fortress of Solitude this morning. No Chevy's made it past us! "What happened?! Where am I? How did I end up here?!"
ParkTrips Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 lol, I played 3 times... was that the last game? near the end of the flight? everyone on the plane sucked!
TheStig Posted March 12, 2008 Author Posted March 12, 2008 ^Probably! All I know is that I won one round, which does prove that everyone on the plane was a total moron!
Mr Stratosphere Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 I believe its actually a chain lift dog, what the train actually uses to attach to the lift chain. Please correct me if I'm wrong. John
Ryan King Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Dude... I friggin laughed so hard at your "Snorlax" reference. Really. Colin, youre amazing! I look forward to the day when we can hang out again! -Ryan
arrowfanman Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 COLIN!!! Again, more great PTR! I love it! Thank you for the nice words. You've been out here twice in three months and I still want to hang out more. Come again and again and again (like on S&S rides!)!!! -Jahan
ebl Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 There was more than one Snorlax in that front seat. But I liked the term. Very Dr. Seuss. Eric
robbalvey Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 ^ I beleive it's actually Pokemon, but yeah, it's very Suessian! --Robb
Homer Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 A very informative and funny trip review Colin. I'll admit the Pokemon joke might be the best thing I've read from a TR in a while.
Cameron Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Nice photos Colin - and yes, it was good to see you again.
socalMAN123 Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Awesome TR Colin, glad you could make it out for this event! It was cool seeing you again. ---Brent
TheStig Posted March 12, 2008 Author Posted March 12, 2008 Thanks for all the comments guys, I'm glad you liked it! And yes Jahan, I am happy enough with SFMM to come again and again!
