I thought Dinosaur was good when I first rode it but then I came back to ride it and it was a bit tame. Still was a good ride, but from all the hype people say about the indy ones at CA an Japan, why can't Disney upgrade Dinosaur to be more thrilling (not necessarily intense)? Why did they downgrade the ride?

I rode all 3, within the same year, so my memories are pretty fresh...

Dinosaur.. blah. Just stupid. What a waste of great technology!

Between the 2 temples, my favorite is the Temple of the Crystal Skull. The waiting line is very impressive with that river of death (complete with skeletons) and the various rooms after. Good points for not being held in a room for a preshow! The ride itself just feel more complete... Like it was previously said, areas that are just dark in California got stuff to look at here.

You know what's amazing? Universal bases and name an attraction after a tornado effect while TDS just plants it in an attraction without hyping it... and the effect works so much better in Tokyo!

Having been on all three, I would give the nod to TDS "Crystal Skull". The queue was much more interesting and detailed. The effects throughout the ride were all top notch, and I never felt bored or waiting for something to happen.

PLUS: Paco>Eyeore!!!

When you get to "Forbidden Eye", it's just a "hit or miss" on what effects will be working that day (or even time of day).

Like someone else said: Dinosaur is just wasted warehouse space.

BUT, I would have to give a second place vote to Pharaoh's Fury at Lotte World. It is such a good and perfect rip-off of the Disney Indiana Jones rides, and it has TON's of fire effects, the smoke ring, SNAKES, etc.. It was a pretty cool ride, with an enormously long (but interesting) queue line.

Agreed. It's not quite on the level of the biggest E-ticket dark rides (Indy's, Spiderman, etc.), but it's definitely right behind them! Definitely better than all the Sally rides and "fantasyland" style dark rides. The only other one I can think of in the same category is the one at Walibi Belgium.

^I think I still have a bruise from the Korean lady that smacked into me and pushed me into the side of the vehicle!

I seriously think I would have liked the Lotte World version better if it only had a good music soundtrack like the Indy's do!

Comparing classic dark rides to these behemoths that cost 100x as much is hardly fair. And some plain old dark rides, like the one at Knoebels, put on an excellent show.

Voted Tokyo.

...and for the record I have been on all 3, but Tokyo's was my first (my cherry breaker if you will), and it probably contributed to me making the effort to go see the other 2.

Maybe I'm the only one that thinks this, but I actually hated the Haunted House at Knoebels. It just felt cheap and rushed, and the gags, I thought, were mediocre at best.

I much preferred ones like Phantasmagoria at Bell's, and the ones at Lake Winnie or even Conneaut Lake.

Personal preference I guess.

It is rushed, but it's the only dark ride that has put me on edge. The gags are corny, but that kinda goes with the genre. Is it "OMG Best Dark Ride Ever" like DAFE claims by having it be #1 in their survey every year? Hell no.

I really like cheesy old dark rides. I wish there were more and that the few remaining ones were better maintained. It seems like a lost art almost.

Tokyo DisneySea is absolutely the best version.

The effects are very 'clean' and the details are simply amazing. The tornado is also dazzling, like a special effect on Fantasmic.

Hi,

I was at Disneyland yesterday and saw some GREAT Indy Temple of the Forbidden Eye Concept Art work. It was a color drawing of the outside of the temple / line area with the jungle cruise in the back. It was on display at Main Street at

Does anyone know the artist who did this work or have an good digital photos of it? I would be very grateful!

Totally agree with this.

Not diverting from the thread but, this is exactly the same thing that occured, only in reverse, when the new "reversing flume ride" was built and featured by several parks. Showing the turntables, and oohs and ahs...

Yet Disney had already "done that," with their flume in the Norway pavillion at EPCOT World Showcase....

Disney just figures out the technology, and applies it to an attraction without spending so much money and time on advertising what "new technology" they've come up with.

It's figured out, eventually by everybody, but it's so cool to just enjoy it as a total experience, even after finding out "how it's done", lol.

IMhO. And now, back to our original thread focus....
