Niagaras Fury

(2/15/08) Niagara’s Fury is coming… in the form of a new attraction to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. Right now the entire thing is a big secret it seems and the official website says more will be revealed in two weeks, but according to the Niagara Parks Commission:

“The biggest thrill, 10,000 years in the making, will take Niagara Falls by storm. This summer, the Fury will hit. The new multi-million dollar attraction, staged at the brink of the Horseshoe Falls, is the only one of its kind in the world and this summer The Niagara Parks Commission (NPC) will be unleashing the Fury at the new Table Rock Center.

While the details of the experience and attraction are still under wraps, Niagara Parks has started to slowly unveil the Fury by releasing the name and website. Utilizing technology and science never before conceived NPC assembled experts from across the globe to produce and create Niagara’s Fury. Go to Niagarasfury.com now to register and be among the first to receive more exciting information as it is released to the public.

“Niagara’s Fury is an extreme experience like no other. It will change you in a way you never imagined. The real question is, Will you Survive?” asked Jim Williams, NPC Chairman.”

Of course the real question from me is… does anyone else know more?

I don't know, call me crazy, but I would almost bet that this has something to do with going down the falls, similar to how many people have gone over in a barrel. I don't think it'd be barrel-sized, but I won't be surprised if they've come up with some compartment for sending people over the edge. Or am I just thinking out of my pooper?

It has to be the world's tallest, fastest, most natural log flume. They wouldn't even have to theme it any more than it already is. Just redirect a small portion of the river water to the side and set up a 167-ft tall log flume.

Case Closed.

I was thinking something along those lines, combined with the whole "barrel down the falls" deal. I think it would be cool if it had a really steep drop down the falls. Maybe like a combo of a log flume with one of those Intamin water rides that drop at like 80* or something? Like the one at KBF and the place in England, I think.

Something like X-Scream or Insanity wouldn't blend in well with the falls at all and would diminish the image that creates so much tourism for Niagara Falls. Besides, the effect wouldn't be as impressive since you would be "only" 170 feet or so in the air (as opposed to 900).

A log flume or something similar themed to going down the falls in a barrel, on the other hand, might actually work.

The only thing I could even think of would be similar to that Grand Canyon Skywalk?!!?

Anyone know more?

I think I remember hearing plans for something like that for the Table Rock area a few years ago. I think something like that would be a great compliment to the Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds.

They're saying that whatever it is it'll be a 'worlds first' - now I know that places twist things for marketing so who knows if it really will be the first of its kind.

"World's first" is meaningless marketingspeak. An attraction where a midget punches you in the crotch would be a first. Would it be good? No. Funny to watch yes, but not good.

I just hope it's not really lame and they created all the excitement for nothing!

And you don't have to go far to get other examples.

Dragon Mountain at Marineland is a few miles from the falls, and still is advertised as the worlds largest steel roller coaster.

And the entire Clifton Hill area is your usual tacky over hyped tourist trap.

I doubt whatever this thing is, is going to be anything mind blowing.
