montezooma Posted December 12, 2008 Author Posted December 12, 2008 Roller Coaster Addict  Well it is time once again to pull something out of the Retro VCR. We've already seen the Roller Coaster Singer & Roller Coaster Expert...How about the Roller Coaster Addict?  This guy, Carl, is the original credit whore...only thing is back in the 80's there weren't enough credits to be had so he decided to ride the same coaster over and over and over....... You get the picture.  PS - his closing remarks are epic    I am still trying to figure out the TPRTV so until then we will have to make due with Youtube.  [tprtv]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=RollerCoasterFanatic[/tprtv]  -Shane
restoca Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 If I've learned one thing over the years, it's that one should avoid entering into a committed relationship with a wooden coaster. Sure, they can be all nice in the beginning, then in only a couple of years they're an entirely different personality, and it's usually a change for the worse. And physically, they can really let themselves go. Downhill. Â Seriously though...
cycamps Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 I imagine that it'd be hard to keep track of all of the times he's rode it. It's pretty neat that he loves The Beast so much...
montezooma Posted December 12, 2008 Author Posted December 12, 2008 ^ He and his "big chunk of wood" lived happily ever after...they now have a "son".
nowaymang Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Just ummm wow...umm...yeah... I know, it must have been a slow news day then. Â Thanks for sharing another gem of a video dude
DenDen Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 I will refrain from making endless jokes about hunks and wood.
gisco Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 ^ He and his "big chunk of wood" lived happily ever after...they now have a "son". Â lol I guess there will be no grand kids because they neutered the "son" a couple of years ago!
kamikazewatermelon Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 He looks exactly like Will Ferrell
Xizor_Racer Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Reminds me of the line from "The Truth About Cats and Dogs"....... Â "It's ok to love your pets, just don't L..O..V..E.. your pets"
montezooma Posted December 13, 2008 Author Posted December 13, 2008 It sure is fun to poke fun at this guy...But I hate to say it, In about 10-20 years all this TPR video of us will be made fun of. It's the circle of life! Â PS- He does look like Will Ferrell

montezooma Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 EUROPA PARK  **WARNING: this post contains boobs **  With all the excitement of "Blue Fire", Mack's new coaster at Europa Park, I thought I would post this old souvenir book from the park.  Europa Park was the highlight for me of the TPR Europe trip. It is themed beautifully, the rides were GREAT, and all around it was just top notch. Yes I hear the complaints about Silver Star just being mediocre, but we were treated to a couple of rides with the brakes off and it was a completely different ride.  Europa Park is a "not to miss" park so all you Americans start saving your money...you won't be dissapointed. (well I am sure someone will, it always seems like there is a party pooper in every group)  Merry Christmas -Shane  PS - I can't believe I stooped to the level of Big Mike...but these boobs are for artistic reasons not to get big ratings...lol Here it is...oh the shame
Xmeister Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 It looks like Europa Park has some amazing theming. Â A lot of the park actually reminds me of Disneyland. Especially their Adventureland.
Team Thriller Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 This being my favorite European Park, I love seeing how it developed. Look at Euromaus? Is that even a Mouse? And those old Alpenexpress trains, looks more like the ones from Bobbejaanlands Bobexpress. Â I love this updates. Â --James
verticalzero Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 The Florida Hurricane coaster at Boardwalk & Baseball - Circus World looks a very good layout with loads of on the hills.
thrillerman1 Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 ^ You can still ride Florida Hurricane at its "new" home, Magic Springs:  http://www.rcdb.com/id418.htm  Europa Park truly is AWESOME and Euro-Mir totally rocks!
DenDen Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Merry Christmas Shane! Can't wait to see what you post in the new year!
montezooma Posted December 23, 2008 Author Posted December 23, 2008 Cedar Point Wintertime  Since most of us are probablly covered in snow at this time I thought this news clip would be appropriate. This video goes back to the winter of 1986 the year before Iron Dragon opened. It shows all the activities that go on at Cedar Point in the off season to get ready for the summer.  I hope everyone enjoys their Holidays, I will be off to Dollywood with my family to enjoy a gold ol Smokey Mountain Christmas.  -Shane Â
Sean Menefee Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Another fun addition. Seriously, thanks again for all of the effort to get this stuff online. The nerd in me greatly appreciates everything about this epic thread. Â Happy Holidays, Â -Sean
Nrthwnd Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Thanks for putting this all together, and keeping it so up-to-date, Shane. Â And best wishes to you and yours for the season. Â I'll miss you on the Scandi tour.
montezooma Posted January 2, 2009 Author Posted January 2, 2009 Intamin 1st Generation Free Falls  Happy New Year Everyone. I guess when my thread drops to the second page it is time for an update. I took some time off because I spent the holidays back in the Smoky Mountains. I love Dollywood during Christmas time! I racked up some new credits while there...3 to be exact. I loved Tennessee Tornado and Mystery Mine. Thunderhead I felt was a little overrated, but when it comes to woodies I much prefer the up and down drops to the twisters.  So now for an update. I have gone through my stuff and have gathered what I have on Intamins 1st generation Free Falls. It includes some photos of the original model that was displayed at the IAAPA show as well as some press releases from parks that installed them.  When these rides first debuted, they were the absolute sh*t. I worked as a ride operator on the Magic Mountain version and I remember the line extending for over an hour and a half wait. the public loved them! Of course as technology improved these rides became dated rather quickly and as we have seen in the last couple of years, most of them have been replaced by the newer Intamin drop towers or the S&S version.  Here is some of my footage of two of the rides, first the original Texas Cliffhanger at Six Flags over Texas which I shot opening year with super 8 film and second is some stock footage from Cedar Points Demon Drop.  -Shane  [tprtv]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=TexasCliffhanger[/tprtv]  [tprtv]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=DemonDrop[/tprtv]  not sure why the TPV version will not show up here in my post so you can either click on the link to see or just view it from youtube.  Demon Drop. The only installation left in Northern America This photo is actually the Free Fall at Six Flags Magic Mountain Six Flags Great America's "The Edge" notice that Six Flags over Mid-America is listed as having a free fall. I am not sure what the story is with this installation, I always thought it strange that ALL Six Flags parks had one installed except the St. Louis park. This early rendering shows a different approach back to the station.
DenDen Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 As always, the best of the best! Happy New Year!!!!
