larrygator
And yes, it's not cool to like Voyage. If you like Voyage you're automatically an 800 pound guy cruising around the midway in a fat chariot complaining that the last time you saw your penis was during the Carter Administration. Hey that's not fair: I saw my penis today. Unfortunately, no one else has seen it since the Carter Administration Yay - Mitch is posting my fixed ballot so I don't look like an idiot, at least not to those who don't know me. yankees15
I just did my ballot a few minutes ago. I added 5 new wooden coasters to my list this year. This is what my top 10 looks like. 1. El Toro 2. Fav Steel 3. Phoenix 4. Lightning Racer L 5. Lightning Racer T 6. Hurler 7. Wildcat 8. Twister 9. Comet 10. Thunderhawk
spaceace12
After looking at the cast ballots, looks like Voyage is showing up strong still. But there is still 28 days left.
niiicolaaah
Yeah THANK YOU TED!!! It took me so much less time to do this year than last! I had 44 total wood coasters (45 including "my favorite steel") Top 6: 1. Balder (Liseberg) 2. My favorite steel (Nemesis) 3. Phoenix (Knoebel's) 4. El Toro (SFGAd) 5. Wild Mouse (Blackpool) 6. PKIDelirium
I'm like 277 or something like that. I submitted like right when it went up, but the email failed and I didn't know it. Re-sent the next day.

downunder
I just checked the processed ballots, 417 already looking like the biggest year, all credit to Mitch for a great poll. All Sydney Aussies don't forget to vote, let's make it known that the now defunct Bush Beast is the most mediocre woodie on earth.
yankees15
I had absolutely nothing to do today so I decided to take a look and see how the top 3 wooden coaster from last year were doing. This is what I came up with out of the 440 total processed ballots. Out of 15 votes, Voyage is beating Balder 8-7. Out of 13 votes, El Toro is beating Balder 7-6. Out of 76 votes, Voyage and El Toro are tied 37-37 with 2 ties. I'm sure I missed a few of them since I just looked through them for about 10-15 minutes. Also, I didn't count a few of the ballots that appeared to be biased. An example of this was Voyage was this person's number 1 and El Toro was there number 58 out of 60. downunder
If El Toro can't make your top fifty you either haven't ridden it, or you are rigging the poll, but you never know some people might hate smooth, crazy ejector airtime.
yankees15
^That is exactly why I didn't count that ballot. Also, this person ranked abrupt airtime as their number 1.
rgb60
It doesn't matter if that person ranked El Toro 58, 10,000 or 2. The only thing that counts as far as Mitch's poll goes is that they ranked Voyage higher head to head. When comparing two coasters head to head, the number of coasters in between doesn't matter, it's just a matter of which one was ranked higher. But maybe that person had a reason to rank El Toro that low. Maybe they looked at the overal experience not just the ride itself. Maybe they had a ridiculously long wait, the coaster was down, the loading and dispatch sucked. They could have based their ranking on things like that, and it's entirely their right to do that. SharkTums
^No, they most likely want to try to screw over El Toro cause it's a 'steel coaster' or maybe they are too fat to fit onto Intamin Coasters. I didn't look who it was, but if I saw who, I could probably tell you which is the case!
Guy T. Koepp
Just finished and sent mine in. El Taco was still my #1. However, Wildcat @ HP took my new #2 spot away from Boulder Dash @ LC. Also the other woodies at HP moved my top 10 around a little bit from last year. Woo Hoo! I have two new last place finishers. Texas Giant and the Rattler took the new last place slots right after last years big loser Rolling Thunder. Woo Hoo! Er... ...I mean ouch! Oh God, my nut sac! Oh $h!t! My ribs! F**k I've got a head ache!

ParkTrips
Maybe they looked at the overal experience not just the ride itself. I don't think so personally. This isn't the "ride and park experience poll" its the wood coaster poll. No matter how much I hate waiting in line for a ride, or how much I hate the park its in, I'm gonna rate the ride independently and objectively. I don't care if its at a Six Flags or Knoebels or crappy ass Visionland, I'll give the rides I really liked good marks and the ones I don't low ones. Personally I hate the people who won't give El Toro its credit just "because its at Great Adventure"
ginzo
Personally I hate the people who won't give El Toro its credit just "because its at Great Adventure" Which is a pretty lame reason anymore, because the place is ran pretty well as of late. ParkTrips
^ I agree. Its actually one of my favorite parks! Out of 76 votes, Voyage and El Toro are tied 37-37 with 2 ties. wow! just last year that margin was more like 2-1, glad to see people coming to their senses!! I sent in my ballot this afternoon. This will be the last year that Psyclone resides at the bottom of my list

Voyage is solidly at #1 for me, but I haven't been on El Toro yet. However, I'm not sure that it would beat out Voyage, since I rode the well-regarded Colossus at Heide Park (another prefab woodie) and was seriously underwhelmed. My biggest beef with it was that it felt like a steelie. From all accounts, so does El Toro. Voyage, Boardwalk Bullet, and MegaZeph are my 1, 2, 3 woodies. I like a good rough ride! downunder
El Toro does feel like a steelie but the steelie it feels like is Superman Ride of Steel at New England, I call it Superman Ride of Wood. It's at 483 ballots now, looks like it will be the biggest year ever, I'm so glad I now have a decent wood coaster count to vote on thanks to the fantastic TPR midwest trip. larrygator
I love wood coasters but still do not understand about people using "it feels like a steel coaster" as a sole excuse to rank El Toro or Balder lower. Just rate the coaster you like better in a higher spot. However, realize you are a hypocrite if you rate "airtime" is your favorite attribute and then don't recognize air time machines in your rankings. This is not directed at any individual, becasue quite frankly I don't have the time to review every ballot and compare preference to the actual rankings. ginzo
I love wood coasters but still do not understand about people using "it feels like a steel coaster" as a sole excuse to rank El Toro or Balder lower. It is a pretty darn weak reason, and it's not even really true. I've never been on a steel coaster that has El Toro's absurdly forceful airtime and drops. It's OK though. Voyage's days in the top 10 are numbered. I wonder if we'll see more trims in the next year or two, which would be sad.
spaceace12
I think the trims were a temp. measure to save the track. The trims weren't even on the last couple times I went. Hopefully a couple reprofiles and trackwork will fix the need for trims.
ParkTrips
^ you mean a couple more offseason's spent replacing 20% of the track? Just think, by 2011, you'll basically have a new ride!
yankees15
I just added in the new ballots and this is what I saw. Out of 17 votes, Balder is beating Voyage 9-8. Out of 14 votes, Balder and El Toro are Tied 7-7. Out of 83 votes, El Toro and Voyage are tied 40-40 with 3 ties. This really is going to be decided at the end of the voting. Also, from just glancing through I noticed that Troy is doing rather well.
CoasterFanatic
Is it just me, or does all this over-analyzing only encourage people to manipulate the ballots? // Be patient. No need to keep ballot-by-ballot tallies.
