p. 433: AlpenFury launched coaster announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

Question to those who have ridden more B&M's with trims...I didn't feel the trims kicking in too much, except a bit on the hill right after the hammerhead, anyone know if the trims were heavy or light compared to the rest out there?

From my experience on the Hyper style coasters built by B&M. Most likely the trim brake is regulated by the speed of the train and applies enough force to slow the train into its designed speed for that particular section of the ride.

The Hypers are designed for the part that you stated you loved and that is the air time from just before the top of hill all the way to the bottom. Goliath at Six Flags Georgia is that way also.

The rides are set up so that you get a nice float of air time and not a slam into the restraints and slam into the seat like on other manufactures rides. While some complain that it ruins the rides, it is so that the ride runs as it was designed to run and give a certain ride. An enjoyable ride experience. Most of the B&Ms are designed with a specific ride pattern in mind and they use trims in different spots to keep the ride in that pattern.

I sometimes wish they would just let the trains fly but while that is fun it would ruin the over all effects of the hills and what B&M had in mind when they designed a particular ride.

If you get to ride Behemouth on many different days and at different times you will start to see that any day the trims will hit a little differently or not at all. Even the difference from the train being full to and empty train will cause a different effect of the trim brakes.

Looks like a typical coaster shirt.

Tacky. I wouldn't wear that outside. Though it's not dueling dragons shirt.

On my way out on Friday I stopped in at the front gift shop. They seemed to have some Behemoth shirts which weren't nearly as "busy".

^Yeah I don't understand why coaster shirts are always so horrible, i almost never buy them, much less wear them outside the house. I'd feel like everyone was laughing at me behind my back.

From what it sounds like the new trains are doing this ride justice, plenty of open air freedom, and comfortable restaints. Where's everybody that said they were going to stink?

I'm liking the mixed measurements they use on the shirt. Feet for height and length but kilometers/hour for speed.

But eh, a little too busy for me still. Maybe take out two of those snapshots, the brown poop monster eating the track, and make the "TM" in the corner a little smaller...

If you want to see how long Behemoth's line was yesterday, check out this vid: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=QvYhvUyOhf8&fmt=18

Oh, and that's certainly not all! Watch this video, up to the 3 minute mark: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Jyj9eGUPvN4&fmt=18

All I can say is, WOW!

Wow also, I was going to arrive for 5:00pm for the opening but got stuck in traffic. I am soooo glad that I got there the time that I did. Instead of all the chaos of the running of the peeps I was able to have a leisurely stroll to the line.

I'm actually in the line in the first video near the front before the actual queue starts. LOL.

The line at the end of the night was estimated to be 3hr30min - 4hrs...we got in the line just before they closed the line off...we ended up getting on in 2hr 10min...they ran all 3 trains very well and I think that helped as well...we got on so quick in fact that were were off the ride by 9:40 and the line was still open still open so we ran back in for a thrid ride, which ended up being the last train of the night.

It was a great way to end the night, pulling back into the station our train tried the "One More Time" chant...didn't work but it was a good effort.

That's really funny, we were on the last train and my wife actually started that chant. It actually works at CP on Maverick.

The 3 hour line thing was a joke, and I felt bad for everyone who was turned away, they have just authorized the overtime and kept the ride open as long as it took, a lot of people went home upset.

Andrew (Coaster_dude2002) and I hit up Wonderland for opening day this morning. So of course we checked out Behemoth and were sure to make it the first credit for the day.

We ran into some weird operations to start the day off though, including what I believe to be a bold face lie from a security guard. As we were gathering with the masses at the rope drop an annoucement was made by someone from security that Behemoth wouldn't be opening up with the rest of the park. Their excuse? The "manufacturer" will not allow them to operate the ride in cold temperatures, so we will have to wait until it warms up enough so the ride can operate.

I called BS immediately. They were testing the ride when there was still SNOW ON THE GROUND during the early spring, and it was only already about 9 degrees (that's celsius...so 48 for you Yankees) outside. Considering I've ridden Beemers at Cedar Point in colder weather than that I'm even less inclined to believe that story. The only reason that I can come up with for them to be not running it in the cold is because of the apparent valley that happened in the last days of testing. I hope that they get it figured out though, because there will be ALOT of dissappointed people if Behemoth isn't running during Haunt in October when the temperature can drop to freezing.

Once it opened up (about 11:30 roughly) they were dispatching trains VERY quickly. The trains weren't even at the midcourse break by the time the next train was being dispatched from the station, I was quite impressed. There were some empty seats being left on trains though becuase the poor girl controlling the station flow couldn't get people into their rows fast enough. Something for them to work on, but this leaves me very hopeful for busy days in the summer. It should really be a capacity machine.

We rode in the last row and to say the least I was VERY impressed with my ride. The first drop was awesome, and my butt was litteraly off the seat on EVERY camel back. The trims weren't on at all, but who knows, that may change as the days get hotter. I would classify the air on it as forceful floater air. You're gradually lifted out of your seat, but you're strongly pushed off it and held there for quite some time.

I'm hesitant to give it a full review and give it a place in my top coasters list purely because I only rode it once (line looked to be a good 2 hours long after our ride) and it was my first ride since last October. It seems like it will easily crack my top 5 steel list though.

110 credits down...MANY more to go.

I went on twice today [third car, and last row], waited two hours, 20 minutes total [including a 20 minute delay while they tested and emptied the water dummies from the trains]. Lots of fun, good speed. Brakes weren't slowing down the train much at all. Lots of floater air in the third car, and the back seat had some ejector air on the first drop and some good floater air on the other drops.

Tons of fun!

The queue, when full, is only about 40 minutes long... they were running all three trains and the crews were FAST. Excellent service.

Also, the ride was running in the pouring rain yesterday, with heavy winds... so, uh, I don't think the Cedar Fair Sprinkle Policy is in effect. Not yet, at least!

See thecoasterkid, and you had doubts heheh, jk.

Glad you enjoyed your ride, but that exuse they gave sounds horrible. When we were there for SPPN it was colder and was slightly raining. I don't think it had to do with the valley but I am sure there were other reasons for not opening it. They should get things figured out over time, but when it comes down to it, if park management belives it is not safe to ride for whatever reason, I don't care what excuse they give as they are keeping the park guests safe right?

I am looking forward to my first ride in the back sea...haven't had that yet...Only rode in the front row all the time to enjoy the view.

Glad you liked it though...Cheers to CW for a great ride.

^ You're right. I was quick to jump on you, and other people. I honestly thought of that post when I got off. Behemoth is filled with strong floater air, and in the back that first drop is amazing. It's an excellent addition for the park, and it will definitely make me visit the park a bit more frequently this summer.

I'm REALLY looking forward to Behemoth Bash now. It will be nice to be able to beat the crowds and get alot of rides in during a short time with the ERT.

I rode Behemoth 5 times yesterday. Once in the very front row, once in the middle, and 3 times in the very back. I can easily say that the back seat is AMAZING. As thecoasterkid said, the first drop was AWESOME and your butt is off the seat going over all the airtime hills. I don't think the trims kicked in at all. I still can't get over that amazing first drop. Sitting at the back you just get whipped over the top of the lift and you are out of your seat the whole time. It is truly an amazing experience and I'm so glad that Canada's Wonderland has got a ride like this. I took a few pictures with my cell phone, not too much though: http://www.flickr.com/photos/clewis4u91/sets/72157604896732438/detail/

I'm sure they CF just hasn't had the chance to get around to it yet. Silver bullet at Knott's closes in the rain. Why you say? Park maintainece says that the trains hydroplane and causes damage to the wheels. I know for a fact B&M's are designed to run in rain, because they're all desingned with a "RAIN MODE". They will also have a ball tring to put seatbelts on this thing.

We all make mistakes jk

Glad you enjoyed it though...it's a great ride, and I cannot wait for Behemoth Bash as well...CWmania just release their info for their event but I won't be able to make it...so now I am just waiting on more information to be released from here so I can book myself into this event...cannot wait..TPR events look great and it's nice to finally be able to attend one..

But there are no seat belts on this ride.

So I don't get what your point is.

There is a policy that all Cedar Fair roller Coasters have seatbelts. Though this ride may not have them, I promise that within 5 seasons it will. Adding seatbelts do not necessarily add to safety, but they do add to dispatch intervals. That is my point.
