EmBy Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Ouch!! The trains look great but those retraints are going to hurt, wonder if there are going to put padding on eventually as they are going to sqeeze into the stomach area. Some of those riders look like they are in pain.
ECZenith Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 If they put these on SFNE's Flashback maybe I would actually ride it again.
Adrenaline_Rush Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 They need to add some padding on the area that will come in contact with your ribs, and on the sides they need paddings on the insides of those metal bars so you dont hit your shoulders on them. Looks like a major improvement though.
asr Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 I just saw the rest of the pictures. They look like a massive improvement over Vekoma's trains. If they just put on some padding, I would say that these trains should be put on every Arrow/Vekoma looper. If some of the large ones like SFGAdv's Great American Scream Machine got these, I bet they would be excellent rides
supermanrosfan0810 Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 They probably wouldn't work on gasm as well as several other rides with loops that bring supports awfully close to the track. peoples hands would get smacked.
asr Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 I really don't think that GASM brings riders any closer to the supports on the loops than Boomerangs do. And SOMETHING needs to be done about that ride, or just tear it down and put some nice family rides there or something
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Niiiiiccccceeeee My only thing would be, pad the lap dar, get rid of the side bars and extend the seat sides forward a bit. Then it can *comfortably* take corks. Edit: w00t!!!! 1400!!!!!!!
Nel Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 They look rather nice. I'm not too big on the whole dragster type car but whatever. Although it would improve the head-banging issues.
Airtime&Gravity Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Awesome, and this should be a big improvement over the over-the-shoulder restraints. Although, since there is no padding, it looks like it is going to hurt if you hit it during the ride. It is a big improvement, and if this works, maybe more will be replaced with these.
krouvi Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 For a Vekoma Boomerang it will be horrible m with no support to the upper body. I can see major neck probelms ....
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 ^Just asking, how do Vekoma/Arow trains provide more neck/back support? Though I do find that it would be quite difficult to sit back going up the first spike. Its hard WITH the OTSRs!
krouvi Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 You can use your hands holding the bars and by this support your upper body.
Loco Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 The trains look alright, it just needs padding on the seats and the restraints. But I can't really imagine myself riding a boomerang with trains like that, it's weird.
Axman Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Telling from , this particular Boomerang looks very rough. It should be interesting to see how this all plays out.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 That doesn't mean its rough. It just means that the guy doesn't have a very steady hand.
socalMAN123 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I personally think the trains look awesome. However, until I hear the results of someone trying them out, they look rather uncomfortable. But, any new train on the Boomerang we have at KBF would be nice. ---Brent
Little Coaster Girl Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 They look nice, but without padding, there just trading one pain ( your headache) for another ( your stomach ache).
Canobie Fan Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 As someone whos rode it... Its not that bad of a boomerang.. And the "sonic boom" part in the tunnel almost made me crap myself! As I didnt know about it
benzo41190 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 By this picture, it looks like the people are just fine with the first spike. And it looks like the lap bars are a good 5 inches away from your stomach. Plus since there is no airtime on boomerangs, your low body doesn't shake as much as your head. And maybe the wheels wont be an inch away from the track...because that alone will make the ride smoother.
mudvayneimn Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 More than likely the lighting is just adding the effect to the restraints, but to me it looks as if there might be a layer of clear gummy plastic-like padding (that's the best way I can describe it ) around the restraint. You have to look really hard, which probably means it isn't there but I thought I'd throw it out there lol.
Axman Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I really have to credit Vekoma for providing a new train option for all of their clients. This could drasticaly improve all of their coasters.
Marcus Sheen Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 It isn't a Vekoma train, it was supplied by SAT-rides. Looks like it is OK, hard to imagine what it will be like without padding though.
raptor6 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 After riding a fair number of boomerangs, anything would be an improvement. The trains look like that they could be great, but I'll need more information to be convinced.
Axman Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 It isn't a Vekoma train, it was supplied by SAT-rides. Looks like it is OK, hard to imagine what it will be like without padding though. Oh, I didn't know that. Does Vekoma know about this?
PKI Jizzman Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Now that I think about it, those restraints look like the GCI lap bars without the orange padding! LOL!
