Eric_Smith Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Just a simple Question. I was just wondering. Figured you guys would know.
robbalvey Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Well, what do you consider "Family Oriented?" My guess would be Disney parks since they build most of their rides without height restrictions, or the ones that do are ususally between 36" - 42" There are VERY few Disney attractions with height restrictions over 42" --Robb

SharkTums Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 What does your sister like? A lot of nine year olds are tall enough and brave enough for the big rides, some are not.
coastrfreak2000 Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 King's Island. LOL....Kings Island....Yeah, they have a nice kids area but everything else will give you brain tumors. I'd say Disney, no doubt about it.
coasterlover04 Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Disney is definitely a family park. To be honest, SFGAm is a decent family park. It was an excellent collection of large thrill rides, small kid rides, and an assortment of family style rides. Not to mention, we are getting Wiggle's World, our 3rd kids section. That is one of the reasons why SFGAm is considered to the best park in the chain.
disneygurlz2s Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 If you take Disney out of the equation, I would have to say Holiday World. Next to Disney, as Robb mentioned, Holiday World has the most rides that accomodate riders between 36" and 48" and all three of their awesome wooden coasters have only a 48" height limit. PKI is family friendly too, as is Cedar Point. But when I factor in "family friendliness", I (as a mom of a nearly nine-year-old) have to look at $$. My daughter loves to play games, shop, etc, and that can get very unfriendly in a lot of the parks. Shari
Shavethewhales Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I would suggest Silver Dollar City. It has 3 great coasters for you, loads of kids rides and attractions for your sister, and a massive array of shops and shows for your parents. Heck, you could even bring along your grandparents, there's plenty of stuff for everyone.
spaceace12 Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I would say holiday world. quite a few little kid rides, descent flat ride selection for teens and of course 2 great first coasters and if they finally are brave enough, there is the voyage.
the sound Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Outside of America, Parc Asterix is and Europa Park looks very good for families. So is WBMW here in Australia. From the looks of it, Dollywood looks pretty family friendly as well. It has mostly thrilling Roller-coasters, good for you, some Good looking water rides, good for all, and some nice smaller flat rides, good for her. But you have to say how extreme your sister is. I rode Goudrix when i was 9!
Eric_Smith Posted April 9, 2007 Author Posted April 9, 2007 What does your sister like? A lot of nine year olds are tall enough and brave enough for the big rides, some are not. My sister is not one of the brave ones. She did not even go on cobra at SFDK. She is into animals and games. I on the other hand will go on anything(not vekoma though ). I prefer B&M and Intamins. EDIT:you also have to take into account were I live because the trip to California and the fact the my hockey is 2500$, we are not going across country any time soon.
verticalzero Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Paulton's Park nr Southampton is one of the best family parks in South England
Théo the little french Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 You could come in France Walibi Rhone Alpes is perfect for kids!
IceDragon Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I'd have to go with Adventure Island... no height restrictions above 120cm, its cheap, every ride is pretty much a walk on and they still have intense rides as well as smaller ones... || || \/ um... forgot about that...
PKI Jizzman Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Well, Kings Island is a family park.....The kids area, then they have every ride to help you work your way up. Fairly Odd Coaster -> Runaway Raptar -> Adventure Express -> Racer -> IJST and so on! Also a great waterpark!
sixflagsguy5 Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 If she doesn't like roller coasters, then no. You'll just be tempted to ride all of the coasters and she'll wanna do other stuff. We went to CP in 2002 and there wasn't much for my little sister to do besides the circular kiddie rides. My mom had to wake up one of the ride ops so that my sister could ride one of the rides. I'd say Busch Gardens Africa if she likes animals. They have a few coasters that you could ride and then they have a ton of animals everywhere. Your best bet would be to get her into coasters somehow...
Eric_Smith Posted April 16, 2007 Author Posted April 16, 2007 I love coasters . She is like this to a 15 ft coaster ........
xascher Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Id say Lagoon, in Utah. Very nice well maintained park with friendly ride ops, a bumped up kiddie area, awesome flat rides, and coasters, (yay for wicked), and they have nice little zoo area.
RCoasterny Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 What does your sister like? A lot of nine year olds are tall enough and brave enough for the big rides, some are not. EDIT:you also have to take into account were I live because the trip to California and the fact the my hockey is 2500$, we are not going across country any time soon. check out Hersheypark- the park has an B&M inverter, and a Intamin Rocket coaster, and a single-loop lap bar only Schwartzkopf, not to mention 2 GCI coasters, and a Mack Wild Mouse. Your sister might want to try the Trailblazer, an Arrow mine coaster. The only drop is a dip about 15 feet high before entering a 720 degree helix. There are plenty of smaller rides for your sisters and they are placed throughout the park. There is a zoo next door, which I beleive last time I checked, is included in your park admission. You can also drive 1.5 hour north to Knoebels, which is another great family park. They have many classic rides that the whole family can ride. It's worth checking out.
Carnage Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Id say Lagoon, in Utah. He's said a few times that he's in Michigain, and can't travel cross country. Eric how far is your family willing to drive? The parks that you're somewhat close to just don't have that much to do for someone who doesn't go on rides. Parks like CP and KI have plenty for thrill seekers, and plenty for really young kids, but nearly as much for kids too old for the kiddy stuff, and not brave enough for the thrill rides. Parks like Disney,Busch,Silver Dollar City, Dollywood, etc would probably suit you, but are they too far away?
