P. 2038: Top Thrill 2 reopens on May 3rd!

Recommended Posts

I must say maverick is my second favorite ride in the park. I think it's #1 in the front row. I went opening weekend and rode it first thing in the morning. I ran there and some people were already riding. I waited about 25 minutes which is about 3/4 of the of the queue line in the house. During the day it was an hour and 45 minute wait with people waiting outside the queue line. Overall the ride is amazing. Very wild but the flips are smooth and calm. The heartline roll would have been awesome if they kept it. I recemend if you go anytime this year, go first ride.

Yes, FILL ALL THE EMPTY SEATS!

I still regret that night, I have no voice because of it.

You have to admit, it was pretty fun and crazy though...

Also, I prefer a back-seat ride on Maverick better than front. It is WAY more forcefull, and the launch really didn't seem that forceful to me, and I got to expirience the one from 15+ mph and the one from 5+ mph. The restraints really didn't bother me much. Also, on the night of ERT, I got to see the train in front of me on Maverick roll back! It made a short delay, but was pretty cool! I only have one thing bad to say: Probably a little to much mist in the tunnel, because I always came out of the tunnel SOAKED! Other than that, Maverick (In my opinion) is better than MF, and the heartline roll would've made the ride have one of the craziest finales ever! Maverick's S curve actually has some air, though. Ah, well, Maverick is my favorite ride and any of you people who haven't ridden it yet GO DO IT RIGHT NOW! Seriously, book a ticket to Cedar Point. GO RIDE IT RIGHT NOW! And say "Hi" to Jon (Reality15) while you're at it!

Rode Maverick for the first time on the 19th, and all i can say is WOW! i rode it 3 times, and it rained for three hours that day! The first time i waited about 3 1/2 hours with about 45 mins of breakdown, and 30 mins of rain. The second and third time i waited about 45 mins each, and the third time there was 15 mins of breakdown. I have to say that the front seat is the best, the back is a little to forceful for me, i had more head banging in the back, still nothing compared to corkscrew, but some. The crew is amazing, they really keep the line moving GREAT! when the ride was running i never stood still for more than 30 seconds! John i looked for you but couldn't find you, LOL! But GREAT JOB! KEEP IT UP!

3) The restraints aren't the greatest. Can't Intamin figure out a better lap bar that will be safe with inversions? Seriously, OTSRs just suck. The wife whined about this. I didn't have much problem with head banging, but I'm a lot taller than she is and I moved correctly with the ride.

Yeah, same thing here. Being a bit taller than my wife, the restraints only hit my neck if I leaned slightly forward, and it didn't hurt after the ride. But seriously, for a ride with such quick transitions, didn't anybody think about the effects of the OTSRs?

I can genuinely say that I really enjoyed the ride, in spite of the restraint choice. It was a fun and intense ride. It's not going to knock MF out of my #1 spot, though. It's not the greatest ride ever at the Point, but I think it's good in how different it is. I was amazed at just how intense it was.

On Thursday, I finally rode with the smoke effects in the tunnel. It really enhances the lights in the tunnel. But that was the only time I'd ever been on it with it on. I rode yesterday, and the smoke was not on.

I rode Maverick last Wednesday. The park seemed more crowded that day than when we went back on Friday (must have been the girl scouts).

Anyway, it was my first trip to CP and Maverick was my favorite coaster there. We had to wait in line about 2 hours because of unexplained "mechanical problems," but very few people left the queue at all. We rode towards the back of the train and had a great ride. Water cannons were working because I had water in my eyes and couldn't see the track for a few seconds. I don't remember any mist effects being on in the launch tunnel.

Maverick had a good mix of everything--launch, inversion elements, speed, air time, laterals, etc. That's why it was my favorite coaster there. I was a bit underwhelmed by Millennium Force. I guess I was expecting a little bit more from a 300 foot coaster, given all the hype I've heard since it opened. The weather on our trip was excellent and we had a wonderful time!

That video doesn't even come close to describing the ride. The transitions feel so, so, so much faster than that, especially the Stengels. You really can't see the launch in the video, but it plasters you to your seat perfectly.

I love this ride. I love, love, love this ride. It never gets old and it never lets up. It would be my number one coaster if not for the OTSRs. As is, I place it right behind Millennium Force as number two.

Those unofficial POVs actually seem like they do the ride more justice then the official one. CP's POV makes it look average and actually kinda boring, these POVs make it look wild and intense like everyone is saying it is.

They still don't do the ride justice, though. Both of them make the Stengels look a little weak.

BTW, I flagged the second one as inappropriate for "Other Terms of Use Violation" because the guy is bragging that he did this without getting caught. That really gets me mad. I would love you all if you followed my lead here. He doesn't deserve to have videos on YouTube if he feels like he needs to brag about breaking park rules and putting other people in danger (can you imagine getting hit by a camera anywhere on Maverick? That's almost as bad as TTD).

You have to consider that CP's POV is an empty train in the morning, so it's going slower than if it were loaded and warmed up. Also, yelling on the ride helps.

I watched the video with the sound off And really, because the unofficial POVs where taken during public operation, they would be more accurate to the actual expierence then a POV taken before the ride warms up in an empty train.

Sorry if that didn't make sense, it was the best way I could think of to explain it.

Ok, I did also.

I'm going to out to Ohio to visit my family late July and the first few days in August, and was wondering what day Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, would have the fewest people ther?. What kind of wait times should I anticipate if I go on the least crowded day?

Also, I was thinking of going the night before and doing the after 4 PM deal, and then doing the next full day as planned similar to what you did.... is it a better deal to just buy a season pass or pay for two days? I'm also from Orange County, so I'm thinking of getting a MAXX PASS in order to do both days, and then also be able to visit Knotts. Does anyone know if MAXX PASSES are for a full year (like a Disneyland Pass) or is it just for 2007? Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

^As to what day, from my experience at most parks Wednesday and Thursday should be less busy then Friday. As for the Maxx pass I'm pretty sure its all year, but I'm not completely sure about that. I would check with Knotts before buying it.

$65 for a twilight and a full day? Aren't full days like $60 alone? We were also considering staying on the resort for the night.... Would you guys recommend doing that vs. staying off site and saving $$$? I'm thinking that staying on the property will save us money in parking as well for those two days.

Full days are about $40.

You can get tickets for $34 if you feel like stopping at any local Meijer on the way. That way you also get to avoid the lines at the ticket booths. Also I've seen Burger Kings with $8 off coupons.

Depends on if you need that "extra hour of ride" in the morning or not. If you do, then by all means stay on sight, if not then save some money and join in the running of the bulls in the morning, it is quite the sporting event.

In all honesty a lot of the motels on the "strip" (Milan Road) feature park shuttle to Cedar Point. That might be the WAY TO GO if you catch my drift. I recommend Kalahari, but that is just me, I loved that resort a lot.

I'd recommend staying at Breakers Express. About the same price as local hotels but with the added benefit of 1hr early admission to the park as a resort guest. Also check the site for any packages they might be running. They sometimes have some good deals on there.
