Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

P. 2038: Top Thrill 2 reopens on May 3rd!

^^

But it is an Aquatrax. No guessing about it.

It hasn't been announced yet, so you can't be 100 percent certain. Everything so far seems to be pointing to an Aquatrax, but it still may be something different.

i just heard about the footers that were laid for the new ride - they are sunk 30-40 feet deep.. aquatrax's footers rarely go 10'. the turning radius of the turns is huge, so the footers are obviously supporting some serious shit..

i do not think it is an aquatrax, the only facts that people are basing the opinion of it being an aquatrax are:

it is at the location of an old water ride

it has triangular track

the track looks like atlantis

they dont need another water ride - they have thunder canyon AND snake river.

lots of rides have triangular track (MF, rita, colossus, etc)

again - atlantis has intamin track.. (just like MF, colossus, rita etc)

there are no real solid facts that this could be an aquatrax. it seems like there is only a little bit of the coaster over any actual water - and that part looks like it could be a double helix or something of the likes.

i do not think there are any solid facts to support the possibility of this being an aquatrax

WTF!! that is so weird! I hope it is just the way the light is shinning on it or that will be VERY painful!

That definatley fits the "sidewindin" sign that is right next to those track peices. It looks as if CP might have put the teaser signs up right next to the part of the coaster that they describe. I can't wait to see "back up bronco" and "were goin in a whole new direction."

and whats with the 'hold on to your feet' sign? does that mean its a floorless??

What?!? I think that you mean the "hold on to your spurs" sign.

and I believe that means that it will go fast, just like saying "hold on to your hats."

^ too much thought.

people compare holding onto something with, you'll lose it from the ride going fast; not holding onto it so as to keep it from suffering from a form of oxidation

see? theyre appeasing to the common people, not the intellectuals

tracks being put in as we speak anyways, so we'll just see what it looks like when the rides done

In reply to absoluterace's comment about footer depth:

The footers aren't 30-40 ft. deep. I watched them pour a few, and they are 10, maybe 15 ft. at the deepest that I have seen. The bases (the large block foundations beneath the circular columns) are very spread out, though that is because of the high water table and the soil strength at Cedar Point.

Watching on the CP web cam right now.

So far the track makes a giant backwards S. Sharp transitions too.

Take this into consideration. The supports are quite skinny, and small. Compare these sizes to Colossus at Thorpe Park and Atlantis Adventure. AquaTrax has much thicker supports.

BTW,i just got off the phone with cps guest relations, talked to a very nice lady, and i asked her this " i was on your website looking at the webcams and i noticed construction of what looked like a new coaster, and i was just wondering when you are going to be announcing the new coaster, and she said sometime in September. if you dont beleive me call up and ask,

the number is 14196272350 (a recordinng will come up and say "please press 1 if you have a touch tone phone" do not press anything, so there for they will connect directly to you guest relations.)

i think they know everything, so call up and ask the your questions!

^^ They don't know everything. So do them a favour and don't call pestering them with dumb fanboy questions.

They don't need kids calling every 10 minutes asking when the new coaster is going to be announced.

why should you care, they are getting paid to answer our questions?
