deguy123
I went to Hersheypark yesterday and it was closed. While inline for a ride I got talking to a girl behind me and she said she worked in that area and that it has been closed alot in the past 2 months. I read a few trip reports and it was closed in a few of the reports also.
HCOSurfer90
Really? When I went a week ago it was open and running fine my 2 visits.
deguy123
Well I'm not saying I believe her but it's just wierd it was closed on Tuesday plus the day before (saw a trip report on Gadv.com from Monday saying it was closed). Hopefully nothing is wrong with it.
Electerik
Screamscape has a little blurb on it being closed, as well.  (8/22/06 We’ve heard from a couple of readers that SooperDooperLooper is currently closed for an unknown amount of time due to some kind of technical problem. Anyone know more?
CoasterPete
I was at the park on both 8/18 and 8/19. On both days it was closed all day. There was no sign of activity around the ride either. Â Pete
ddaver177
Wow!! Super Dooper Looper is a great ride. I always enjoy going on that 10 times in a row. I wonder if they might be taking it down for another roller coaster. I have heard of plans for a coaster coming in 07 or 08.
pkdcoaster
I sure hope not. that ride is a classic! Plus it is a lot of Kids first "Big" coaster in the PA. It is always fun seeing little kids think it is the greatest ride ever and they ride it all day. Â JEFF
ECZenith
It's not being removed... like Screamscape said it's most likely down for a tech problem.
CoasterEricHP
It's probably takes awhile for them to get a rarely needed spare part or something.. I really doubt they'd take it out.. Â But.. I would really like to see a Goliath'ish coaster run down the creek towards Chocolate World and back.. Hmmm.. would be better than the massive amounts of plastic/playskool looking water rides they are putting smack dab in the middle of the once nice looking Midway America. Â JEFF Â I hope not either, it's one of the only coasters around that goes upside down that my daughter can ride. I think it's like 42"(Hershey bar). It is a great coaster for someone who wants to try a coaster with a loop. Plus there is no OTSR...it's still lapbars.

I think the water rides actually make a bigger difference in the GP's perception. Having family near Michigan's Adventure, many locals buy season passes just to hang out in the waterpark. Add in tube rental, sunscreen sales, and others and a waterpark is a good addition to any park. It also can keep people in the park longer, because when people get too hot in the rides park, they can go to the waterpark to keep cool during the hotter part of the day. okinawaboy11
I went the day of Pirates of the Carribean opened (I dunno the exact date but I remember THAT day). Anywho, it was open.
yankees15
It was closed all day when I went on tuseday 8/15. I really hope it's not getting taken out cause it's a classic.

It makes a lot of sense to do it that way. I'm kinda sad to see the tinkertoy zone in Midway America but with the parks centenial next year they had to do something big, one ride would not be enough. fbk2711
I also hope they dont (and dont think they will) take it out. That was my first looping roller coaster and is deffinantly a classic. It would be a shame to see it go.
LiVeToThRiLl90
it's probally just a rumor, like what happened with flight of fear at PKD. Yes it is a classic, last time I went on it though was 4 or 5 years ago.
HCOSurfer90
There's no point in taking it out anyway. Ok it had a technical problem, but all coasters do. Plus what would fit in its place, practically nothing with Great Bear taking up space.
Golfie
That was my sister's first inverting coaster... I hope they don't take it down. Heck, I just want the credit! Â Andrew "I think I cried because I was too scared to go on..." C.
waterviper
Wow I never knew a closed coaster can get so much attention will all these rumors about it closing. Has any of you heard of the word refurbishment?
Darien Laker
Oh I love that coaster. It's the only looping Schwarzkopf i've been on, and when I went to Hershey in '97, that was actually probably the best coaster they had. Although I loved Comet too....and Wildcat. FlyinPhil
I visited HP last Fall for UPS day and it had problems in the morning, although in the afternoon it ran fine. Of course I was too TALL for this oldie and had to do the walk of shame down the exit ramp
