Kings Island and Knotts definitely are going to be the next in line for a giga coaster, after that I really don't see them going into any other park since they are just to big and much too expensive for those other parks you mentioned. If Dorney didn't have any height restrictions then maybe I could see one there, but that park needs to focus on getting a GCI woodie. Worlds of fun is a nice sized park and has great potential, but again Giga's are just to expensive to go to these parks. Cedar Fair is just being reasonable and spending a lot of money on there big parks with coasters that are very expensive like banshee, Fury325, leviathan, and gatekeeper and spending a little money on there smaller park with cheaper coaster ( GCI woodies) like Renegade, Prowler, Goldstriker, and a future woodie to Dorney.

I am not really sure how "growth park" translates into a small SLC. I think this park has lots of potential and a few good rides could turn it around. A small B&M next year, a full circuit launch, RMC if possible, I can't wait to see what VF will be like in 15 years. In other thoughts, do you all think a giga is possible like 20 years down the line? Kings Island and maybe Knotts are probably going to get them in the next 5 years, and after that do you all think they will add Gigas to parks like Dorney, WoF, and VF? Or do you think they will be done with gigas. We got a hyper 7 years after CP. It is different times, but is it still possible?

I guess it might not be impossible to get a giga coaster sometime down the line, but I really don't think we should speculate about 20 years in the future right now because who knows what Valleyfair will be like by then?

Imagine 20 years ago, (1995) Would we have expected Wild Thing Renegade Steel Venom Power Tower and Xtreme Swing? Maybe some, but certainly not all of those rides. The park had the potential for those rides back then and now it is there now. I bet the next 20 years will be great for Valley Fair as well. It is definitely so unpredictable to even speculate this far out though so sorry guys I will stop. WOOOO 100 posts!

Just a thought, it has been suggested on here that VF could possibly get a floorless coaster in the near future, but to be honest, I'd actually prefer a B&M sitdown over a floorless coaster. This is because I generally hear better things about sitdown coasters than most floorless coasters (ex. Kumba/Hulk/Dragon Khan better than Kraken/Bizarro/Superman: Krypton). Maybe not the most likey scenario since it has been a while since the last sitdown coaster was built, but not impossible either.

I find it highly unlikely, as the floorlesss coasters seem to have basically replaced the sit-downs. And even if it was a sitdown, it would probably ride like the floorless B&M's do. Its not so much of the sit-down models being more intense, as it is the time they were built. The B&M sit-downs were built much earlier, back when B&M consistently built more intense coasters, and although Banshee may have been a step back towards that style, their newer coasters tend to have smoother transitions and less sustained high g's. In relation to this I see a new sit-down, if they ever actually built one again, to ride/feel like more modern floorless coasters from them (Hydra, Dark Knight, and Hair Raiser).

And let's not forget that floorless coasters put you that much closer to the track! At least it feels that way, okay! And then, there's Silver Dollar City's Wildfire. Look how much higher WF's trains ride. It's not sure whether to be a floorless or sitdown.

There are more options today then there was 5 years ago. Something like YOLO at Magic Mountain would do awesome at Valleyfair, and it has a less hefty price tag than the big B&M's.

Exactly. The park is going to have to do things outside the box in order to accommodate the growth they are capable of, especially with the restrictions of limited land, height, flooding tunnels, harsh winters, and a determination to not lose any current coasters. Nontraditional high-thrill coasters with strategically tight footprints are what we will get. Which makes a YOLO type a great option, I'm right there with you on that 100%.

I don't believe Cedar Fair has bought any coasters from Premier Rides (all of their Premier coasters were acquired in the Paramount buyout), but if they did, I could see them putting in something similar to Full Throttle, though I doubt it would be anything record-breaking.

All of the slide landings seem to be in place now. I also noticed that they ripped out the pavement from part of the Mad Mouse queue, so they must be repaving that too.

It's going to be interesting to see how they handle additional waterpark expansion especially. By 2020 that whole part of the park will probably be dramatically different!

Don't forget that IOE is also redoing the PLC system for Mad Mouse! Can you guys explain to me exactly how this Mad Mouse differed than the other ones? From what I've heard, Valleyfair was using a custom system versus the ArrowVison system that the other Mad Mouse coasters have, which is why IOE is coming in and completely redoing it with their IOE touch system. Whatever they have in mind, I really hope it'll drastically improve the way these coasters are ran and maybe will be ordering for the other 2 if it brings the capacity back up to where it should normally be at.

I think this thread is going off the rails a little bit..but anyways, heres a picture I took today of the bulldozer and the obviously disturbed land near the dorms. Speculate away!

Possible new parking lot?

I'm sorry, but where exactly is this (In relation to a ride, preferably to give me an idea).

Yep, it is. I enjoy discussing the park as much as everyone else here, but let's keep our speculations within reality.

Hmm... sounds like you're talking about the land in this general vicinity? If I'm right, then they're digging awfully close to the river. It's a little too early to guess exactly what's going on.

No. He's talking about the field that's to your right side when first pulling in to the parking lot. On Ripcord, people swing out straight towards it.

Never knew that those buildings near the grassy area were the employee dorms. I always thought they were behind High Roller, but I guess not. Anyway, the digging in that area could mean that they're looking to expand the parking lot. I'll keep an eye on that area whenver I go to the park this season.

I accept the speculation challenge and would guess if the parking lot gets expanded toward the dorms that they are looking at losing some parking lot space adjacent to the park itself. Possibly that coned area that was seen however many months ago.....Possible new coaster site identified!

But back to how it connects to the current paths...I'd almost suspect a new amphitheater along the lines of the Palladium at Carowinds, as it is accessible without entering the park itself, and Valleyfair is certainly holding onto its defunct amphitheater with iron claws. It's like they're waiting for a new one before bringing down the old one.

And that would put the next coaster where a lot of people here have suspected, right on the old amphitheater site.

The new B&M invert, Centurion, would zero G roll over the entrance plaza and be accompanied by midway improvements, possible removal of the underperforming games, and a couple smaller flats will go in as well. Larson flyers maybe on the old scrambler pad, and the carousel gets its time to shine with a gorgeous redo and new housing to rival Great America. Followed the next year by the next waterpark expansion and then finally a Windseeker.

Speculation achieved.

It appears that the 8 inches of snow from last night is not stopping the construction . Hard to believe there are only 53 days until the season begins.

Valleyfair needs a real steel coaster that is at least 3000' long. It definitely does not need a short one trick pony ride like Full Throttle.

I don't know where you got the "...where a lot of people here have suspected..." part from these forums. A few maybe but not a lot. Now, I have seen a lot of people speculate that a flat ride or two could go there but not a coaster which makes much more sense.
