I was just wondering what everybody thought about "intense airtime" (the feeling you would get on a coaster with a steep drop). Is it a sensation, or is it torture for you?

For me, I think of "intense airtime" as "this is awesome, but is it going to end soon?”

The first one or two times on the drop, it's torture. Then, it's great. Take Raging Bull for example. The first time I rode it, I hated the drop. The second time, I liked it a little bit. Now, I am obsessed with the ride.

I absolutely love airtime. However, I think that it can become too intense, or even painful if taken to the extreme. For example, Dodonpa or Hypersonic look like they would hurt when you go over the hill. But rides like Millennium Force, any of the Superman: ROS or B&M hypers are awesome for airtime.

Oh my gosh it is the best feeling ever!

Like on drop towers, just falling like that and going out of your seat, losing your stomach....I can't get enough of that!

Ejector airtime is definately a great "sensation"!

Depends on the company. For example I find Arrow's version of airtime as painful (although fun), while El Toro and S:RoS have far more sustained airtime, stronger yet much more comfy and exhilerating.

My vote goes to yes, I love it.

I love it as well. It's like having to go to the bathroom really badly and making it at the last moment! Atleast, to me. I think Ghostrider may be the only coaster I've been on that has alot of airtime, the two Giovanola hypers I've been on unfortunately had no airtime, so I don't know what "super extreme" or "sustained" airtime is like.

The first time on an airtime-loaded coaster always feels uncomfortable, but afterwards it just feels great. You should lift your arms and legs on a B&M hyper=>feels great

I definitely prefer airtime to positive G force, and I wish more looping coasters had it.

Airtime can be torture sometimes, but it's fun.

I say the exact opposite about rough coasters with tons of positive force poulling down on you. It can be torture ALWAYS, and is never fun.

So yeah that is what I think about airtime.

I think the Mummy (Florida) has the best airtime of any coaster I have been on.

I LOVE the first drops on mostly all arrows. They give you so much airtime. Anyways, B&M hypers always give great airtime. (Too bad Raging Bull has fin brakes on the third hill or it would have CRAZY airtime!!!)

I love "Airtime". Especially on drop towers. You are just sitting there, waiting for it to drop, and then it drops and you fly out of your seat. Agh, it is so fun.

That was deep.

Aah yes. B&M's are the greatest.

Airtime is a great feeling, but it can be torture sometimes. It's like your first coaster of the season. Intense.

I can't get enough airtime. About the first coaster of the year thing...That's very very true. It's the best ever. I was deprived of airtime for 7 months so when I went down the drop on the Georgia Scorcher in the front row I thought it had airtime. Then I went on Goliath, the GASM, and the Cyclone and I had gotten my daily dosage of airtime.

Cyclops, back car. I rest my case As far as intensity goes, combining some forceful ejector air with a quick turn essentially defines pleasure imo. Cyclops does it TWICE, and every other hill is filled with nice twisted airtime aswell..

Also, Hades is an example of different types of airtime.

-Ejector air

-Floater Air

-Ejector with Lateral (outward banked turn)

-Powerful Pops of air (pre lift double down)

Personally, airtime is airtime....it really depends on the ride. Sometimes, quick forceful pops are fun, yet it can be painful.

There are so many factors to think about

Positive Gs torture? No way! I think BTR is one of the best coasters because of the tour de force it is. Golaith's centerfuge is amazing. El Toro's twister section is amazing. El Toro's airtime is definitely more amazing though, and very comfortable.

Restraints do make a big difference though. Runaway Mine Train @ Gadv used to be a pain, mostly cause I couldn't fit in the train with those restraints. Plus they were bare metal on top of that. With the new restraints, not only can I fit now (barely), but the padding makes it (dare I say it) fun!
