robbalvey
Hey everyone! The #1 request we get is "Can we go on a trip with you guys?" Recently, Elissa and I have discussed "What if we organized a trip for readers of Theme Park Review?" and from that discussion we have put together a little questionnaire to see if something like this would even be possible. If you are at all seriously interested about us organizing one of our trips so that a larger group would be able to attend, please click on the following link and fill out the questionnaire: http://www.themeparkreview.com/question.htm Thank you very much, and who knows, maybe the next time we go to Japan, we'll be able to take you with us!!! --Robb
Token Yankee Guy
I filled out my questionnaire and submitted it for ya guys. When I first looked at the thread on WC, it sounded like a contest.
robbalvey
Nope! Not a contest! Just an idea we've been kicking around about doing organized group trips. We think it would be a LOT of fun to put something like this together, but we need to collect a bit of information from everyone first. Please fill out the questionnaire if you can, and feel free to post here any questions or comments about the idea of us doing organized trips. --Robb
socalMAN123
Hey guys! I'm saving my money carefully so I can go with you on one of your trips. I'll probably have enough money to travel across this country by next year. I was just wondering, how much is your average price for an international trip? ---Brent 8)
CoasterCrazy
^When I filled out the questionnaire, I guessed that an international trip would cost about $4500. I had to guess because I have never been on an international trip.
Scaparri
I really think this is a great idea you guys are playing with. I'm lookin' forward to what develops. I'm not really sure how realistic my international figure is. It might be a bit low though it said not to include airfare or food or anything of that nature. I travel as cheap as possible so that's why my figures might be a little off.
Hattuchili
Hey Robb, I also filled out my questionnaire and submitted it to you. However, I think for such trips there has to be a minimum age. Or what did you think? I know it sounds hard for our young members, but otherwise a large responsibility lies in your hands! --Soeren
robbalvey
^ Yes, we would most likely have to say "Under a certain age must be accompanied by an adult..." Just like on most rides! --Robb
crispy
I have never really been on a long coaster trip, so the hardest thing for me was guessing how much money, also the summer months are generally better, but with my type of work, it doen't matter, as long as I have notice Also, would we all meet at a central location, and would this be a car trip, or a plane trip? I'm all for a road trip, with as much carpooling as possible
robbalvey
^ There are still a lot of details to work out, but the thought would be that we would all meet in one central location for the start of a trip. How you got there is to be determined on how far away you live from that central location. From there the mode of transportation would depend on how many people we had taking the trip. --Robb "Still in the VERY early phases to see if something like this even makes sense." crispy
Well regardless of the early planning, I am very excited, and think it is a great Idea. I think we should all meet at Cliffs
Prendies
Are these trips only for people in the USA?
robbalvey
^ No, they don't have to be. The questionnaire was written assuming you lived in the US, but even if you live outside the US it is still very valid for submitting one if, for no other reason, gives us an idea of how many people would be intrested in us organizing a trip. There are so many details to work out and questions we'd need to answer if we did decide to organize a trip, but we have to take the first step which is simply finding out if people would be interested in such a thing. --Robb "Thanks for all the feedback so far!" BiCoastal Kid
hahahaha, I just went and filled it out, and stupid me forgot to estimate lodging stays into my costs.... IDIOTH! M_Force_4_ever
Filled mine out, as soon as I get a job (hopefully soon) I will be saving my money for diffrent trips. as I put in the Comments section of the questionaire I assume anyone under 18 would have to be accompanied by a legal adult, correct?
SharkTums
^That's correct...parent/guardian...or if you have someone over 18 your parents can always sign a power of attorney which basically signs you over to them for the trip! socalMAN123
Yeah, I doubt my dad would want to go all over the U.S. I have another friend that would probably want to. Cool. ---Brent 8)

djrappa
I would put in a submition to join you guys on a coaster trip to Australia but I will be the first to admit coming here simply for coasters is a total waste of time, there are only really 3 parks worth going to and they are all in the same place. Should you guys ever come down to see the country with a big of parkin' on the site let us all know

kenshinmac
I've never really done a trip like that so I really have no idea what the sort of costs would be involved are. Would it be your typical ideal of a couple parks a day or a typical persons 1 park a day? I guess if I am interested should I just submit the survey without the cash amounts? I would love to do that sort of trip as I really want to try some of the crazier coasters even around the US and really have little skill in planning myself.
robbalvey
^ Yeah, submit the survey without the costs. Finding out how many people would simply be interested in a trip is #1 on our list. For domestic, as a rule of thumb, you should assume about $100 - $120 per day if you are sharing a hotel room with someone. And that number includes: Hotel stay (double occupancy splitting the cost between two people), Park Admission, Food, Transportation, Parking, and Misc (if you buy a T-shirt or something, etc) That number can go up or down depending on several factors: If you have a season pass to a park, if it's a smaller park that doesn't cost as much (i.e. William's Grove), staying in cheaper hotels, etc. International is a whole other ballgame. Not only are hotels, transportation, and parks more expensive, but you also have to deal with things like tolls that are MUCH more expensive than in the U.S. For example in Switzerland, we are going to have to pay a $60 toll just to use the "interstates" in the country to get from Germany to Italy. That one day going from Europa Park to Gardaland is going to cost us nearly $100 in tolls! We're also splitting that between 6 people, but still, that adds at least $20 per person per day on top of all the other expenses. And then on top of all that, you have the exchange rates to deal with, which, unless you are going to Canada, is NOT in our favor. Anyway, I hope that gives you a little insight about the costs! --Robb
Shadowforce
Suddenly I feel disgusted by myself for being glad that the dollar fell in price, which meant that everything from America costed alot less... In any case, I might just as well warn you now that prices in Denmark is E-X-P-E-N-S-I-V-E. Example: Standard ½ litre plastic bottle with Coca Cola: $5, price from 7/11. And it gets worse.
